What a bloody scandal
Not only did the police beat this man up so violently that he died in their van, but when he died, they were taking him to the PAOLA HEALTH CENTRE and not to emergency admissions at Mater Dei Hospital.
Joseph and Jeffrey, you should be so proud. This is the culture you are helping to foster with your irresponsibly racist remarks about immigrants and how they should be towed out to sea or left to drown.
And Joseph Muscat has the ruddy nerve to give a speech today, or was it yesterday, talking about how Maltese society should ‘accept all couples’ and how he wants to live in a society that ’embraces everyone’ – to mark gay pride day.
If they’re gay, fine, because there are gay Maltese people with votes. But if they’re black and from Mali, forget it. Not only will Muscat not gain votes by speaking out against this kind of horrendous thing, but he will actually lose votes from his racist, far right supporters, who almost certainly include the detention officers in question.

OFFICERS ARRESTED AFTER MIGRANT DIES IN DETENTION SERVICE VAN
Five Detention Service and AFM personnel are under arrest for questioning after a migrant from Mali died in a Detention Service van last night while being taken to a health centre.
The Detention Service said the man, a 32-year-old, had earlier been aggressive to other migrants and had assaulted and injured Detention Service officers who then restrained him.
The migrant died as he was being taken to Paola Health Centre.
Police sources said that the migrant did not die a natural death and possibly died after being violently beaten.
In a statement, the Detention Service said the migrant had escaped from a Detention centre three years ago.
Yesterday afternoon he called at Floriana health centre seeking assistance. The police established that he was an escaped migrant. He was taken to Safi Detention Centre, where he was aggressive against other migrants.
He was taken to Floriana health centre once more and an appointment was made for him to be seen by a psychiatrist this morning.
On being taken back to Safi he was aggressive once more and the other migrants were about to assault him. He was therefore taken to the guard room. He escaped, but was recaptured at Safi.
He then assaulted the Detention Service officers. One of them suffered a bite and others suffered injuries.
According to procedure for escaped migrants, he was taken to Paola health centre for a check-up, under strict escort. He was found dead on arrival.
The police in a separate statement said that when they arrived near the health centre, the escorting officials noticed that the migrant was unconscious and they immediately called a doctor to assist. However the migrant was found to be dead.
Magistrate Miriam Hayman LLD is holding an inquiry. The police are investigating all the circumstances of the case, including the conduct of the officers who came in contact with the migrant.

…. we wait for the cover-up with bated breath!
(Last night I spoke to a guy from Ghana who was working on the beach – menial work that no Maltese man in his early 20’s would dream of doing of course – there was music playing and “Le Freak” came on and his face lit up. He said it reminded him of home and the fun he would have with his large family and friends before the trouble started. His brother is the only surviving family member he has left. And off he went to carry another 5 deck-chairs in the sweltering heat).
Way back in the 90s, in my Sixth Form days, I used to hang around a bar whose owner was quite notorious for being a thug. The cleaner there was a black man, who one day probably having reached the end of his tether from the humiliating treatment the bar owner used to dish out, stopped me to explain that he had a PhD. I felt so sad for him.
Fast forward a decade and I emigrated myself. Although I found decently-paid jobs, I did contract work for five years to avoid doing work that was lesser paying or ‘beneath’ me.
At the end of those five years I tired of my adventure and came back home, convinced the grass isn’t greener. Some professions like IT and medicine are international, whilst some others are territorial and require local knowledge.
The point is, I had the option of coming back home. My dignity would not allow me to keep on living a life of unstability just for the cool factor of living in London. I was reluctant to come back at first as I did not want to end up in some lame, underpaid civil service job.
Luckily, I found a changed Malta and am now working for a British firm.
I had the right to emigrate legally and came back to an improved country. The illegals landing here do not have either the luxury of emigrating legally or returning home to totalitarian states. They have no choice but to accept menial work.
Whilst I did not have to deal with racism, they do. Living away from your country is fraught with difficulties and not for the faint-hearted.
Unfortunately for the migrants the average Maltese counry bumpkin will treat them as slaves, having no rights and dignity. Of all the countries to end up in, I wouldn’t choose Malta if I were black.
Eventually I do foresee Malta becoming multicultural. However, the current crop of migrants are the pioneers who have to bear the brunt of Maltese prejudice and ignorance.
Wanna bet they all get off? The Labour thugs in blue have been emboldened.
Shocking comments underneath the story.

.
This case raises once again an issue about the human rights of migrants.
I am not expecting the Partit Laburista to say anything now – individual human rights are not important for the Partit Laburista – but probably they will use the results of any enquiry to criticise the government.
A proper investigation is necessary, and whoever is found responsible should face justice.
