And Malta Today is working – though we shouldn’t be shocked – in tandem with them, too

Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando Smith

The interests of Malta Today, the Labour Party and Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando Smith dovetail neatly,so it is to be expected that they will work on their common project.

Also, none of them have any integrity whatsoever, so they do not have the usual moral objections to perpetrating evil for their own advantage.

Malta Today wants to bring down Lawrence Gonzi. It seeks the defeat of the Nationalist Party not as an end in itself, but as the means by which Lawrence Gonzi will have to step down and a new leader – John Dalli, they hope – be elected.

Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando has the same objective, and is working towards that end by his own admission. He is doing everything he can to have Labour elected, he is cooperating with Labour to this end, he has said he will not vote, and he has said that he will seek readmission to the party list when Lawrence Gonzi ‘and his click’ are gone. Whether he wants Dalli as the new leader, as Malta Today does, isn’t clear. But it must be so, because if that new leader is somebody like either Mario de Marco or Simon Busuttil, he hasn’t a hope in hell of returning.

The Labour Party and Muscat just want to be elected, whatever it takes and even if their passage to the top is built on lies, evil and criminal slander.

Malta Today is now running a story under the atrocious headline: “Pullicino Orlando substantiates accusations against Cachia Caruana”

They know very well that Pullicino Orlando did nothing of the sort, that Joe Mizzi went on Super One yesterday night and lied shockingly, talking about his impressions and what he thinks, and that this morning Pullicino Orlando presented those lies and thoughts as ‘evidence’.

Forget the politics of the situation and the personal vindictiveness of those involved. In purely journalistic terms, this is a disaster for Malta Today, which presumably wishes to be taken seriously as a newspaper rather than being considered as little more than a vehicle to secure the eradiction of Lawrence Gonzi and the elevation of John Dalli to the throne he believes is his.

How exactly did Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando substantiate his allegations by quoting the thoughts and feelings and hunches of a Labour MP on Super One?

[Daphne – Somebody told me recently not to use irony because it’s alien to Maltese culture. Now I know what he meant.]

Will Malta Today have us believe they can’t see how a Nationalist Party led by John Dalli would never win an election?

    Presumably Sargas need their timeframes.

It is no surprise that so many people would be working together in such a way. This is Malta, where everyone and everything is so close, not just geographically but also socially as well, which makes such allegiances seem acceptable and natural, even though they are neither.

Since we all know each other and want to be nice to each other any form of professionalism is seen as unfair.

In all this political fiasco, where is the President of the Republic?

Excellent analysis. The circle of conspirators is wide indeed. Not true politicians or journalists but more of a disillusioned drop-out.
