Grit your teeth for an extended and vicious Super One electoral campaign
timesofmalta.com reports today:
The PL, (Muscat) continued, was “seriously prepared” for an election campaign, regardless of how short or long it would be.
That is exactly what people are afraid of. The general experience of Labour Party electoral campaigns has within living memory always been terrible.
The party has never had any proper policies and so has fought its campaigns almost exclusively on savage, to the point of immoral, personal propaganda.
Its release last week of an illicitly recorded and very private conversation, in which its Public Enemy No. 1 revealed intimate thoughts of no public interest whatsoever, is one of the first signs that this is the way Joseph Muscat plans to go.
And we should be in no way surprised, because he remains at heart and in spirit a Super One reporter. That is his forma mentis and that way his early training.
This election campaign is, given Labour’s total absence of a political programme, going to be an extended Super One character assassination campaign cum Sensiela Kotba Socjalisti prolonged serialisation.
It’s all they’re capable of.

Good God! DCG complaining of personal venom. You have to be kidding.
[Daphne – That’s because, coming as you do from a literal Maltese background, you miss the scathing humour. Venom my great aunt sally.]
If things are so disastrous in Malta why doesn’t Joseph Muscat just emigrate?
From Italy, where he’s enjoying a 2-week holiday right now, he should move to… maybe Spain or Cyprus, two countries he admired not so long ago.
What policy has the “ready for any eventuallity” PL when PM -in- waiting goes off on holiday?
Forget about campaigning or the ability to campaign – if he messes up a campaign his party suffers. That’s not my worry.
I’m more worried that this person might be leading the country in the future – and if he messes up there, WE WILL ALL SUFFER!
This may sound stupid, but why would anyone who isn’t with PL watch Super 1?
[Daphne – To see what They’re up to now.]
And is it enough to put the average Maltese floating voter off them?
Off voting for them?
THere is absolutely no humour in your post. Just a case of selective amnesia.
Have you forgotten the vicious attacks on Alfred Sant – to which you contributed – in tha 2008 election campaign.
[Daphne – Really, how? By remarking on how odd it was to have an Opposition leader/prime minister in a wig but nobody was allowed to mention it? What else, go on?]
