He expects to be consulted
Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando said in his resignation letter:
‘Given the circumstances, I expect to be consulted by you should any measure which is not specifically mentioned in the electoral programme require my support in Parliament.’
He wants be consulted. Let’s repeat that. He wants to be consulted.
This man sprang the divorce bill on his party leader and prime minister, and he did it in collusion with Joseph Muscat, it is now clear with hindsight.
He has behaved like the pathological parliamentary equivalent of the Unabomber for four years, taking unilateral decisions as though he were an independent MP all along, and actually saying that the whip should have asked him how he plans to vote, when the role of the whip is to tell him how to vote while his role is to obey.
And now he expects the prime minister to consult him. Shameless.

Whatever he did with the divorce bill it was fruitful as the aim was reached.
Only because he needed one for himself. He did not do it in the public interest.
No it wasn’t, he simply hogged the whole debate turning it into an ideological war on anyone whose idea of divorce was different to his.
He expected a Nihil Obstat from the church, as if it should.
The result was an unprecedented amount of people who kept away from the referendum, and a law which grates with public sentiment.
A bit off this thread, but have to interject.
Daphne, I admire you, as do many, for your fortitude, guts wit, intellect, writing ability and ‘never say die’ attitude.
However, having read your posts over the last 12 hours, I must say that you have surpassed even yourself.
You have put the rats back into their holes, the cocks back into their cages, the liars back into their lairs, the pompous back into the pits, the misguided strapped to a missle, the assholes, well, sniffing and disappearing up their own, and the ignorant, no hope.
You made my day, as I read your stuff on the plane back to the Rock.
An incredible lady.
Hear hear!
For a while I had been content in the bliss of political ignorance that comes with political stability and the sense of security of a good government, We were all chugging along nicely.
Reading Daphne opened my eyes again.
She made me laugh and twice I coughed up my coffee through my nose, but she also forced me to reflect on the fact that my youth was stolen by Mintoff.
She pointed out that many of those from the MLP of old are standing in the wings without a hint of remorse.
She exposed people in positions of power for what they really are, and she uncovered massive discrepancies in the media, and lit a much-needed fire up my arse.
I am now ready to fight (figure of speech) to keep Joseph Muscat and the rest of the (M)LP out of Castille.
“Shameless” is most apt and says it all.
It’s his last chance to believe that he is important.
Now he knows that he will not have another chance at showing everyone how important he is, as there is no chance in hell he will be a minister any time soon.
