Dear Daphne,

We are longtime readers of your blog. You are a popular commentator of reality and we came to ask you for help.

Please excuse this message in a comment but we didn’t know any other way to contact you.

A group of volunteers is helping bring Hungarian girl Agnes Revesz home. She went missing on Malta on 22nd July.

She hasn’t been heard from since. We have prepared posters and we need to reach as many people as we can.

Would you be so kind to post the poster on your website?

We would be so grateful for your help. Your column is being read by many people. Some of them might know where Agnes is.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    Good for you, Daphne.

It is pretty obvious, from this message, that not everyone regards you as a ‘sahhara hadra’.

    What a worthy cause.

[Daphne – The ladies who sent this in are not Maltese.]

Ahjar flok jigru wara erba’ t’iqlafat b’joint, jaraw xi human trafficking rings qed joperaw f’Malta.

    • Homer says:

Unfortunately it’s much easier to rough up a junkie than to face down dangerous criminals.

Wara kollox, qas haqq taghmel sforz ghax tispicca taqla’ daqqa ta’ sikkina minn slave trafficker jew drug dealer, u minn fuq issib xi partit politiku jipprova jhammgek talli ghamilt dmirek, jew issib top criminal lawyers li jmexxu pajjiz.

    • Paul Bonnici says:

I have always suspected that there must be a very well organised human trafficking ring in Malta.

      • kev says:

This is a relatively recent phenomenon. But as usual our police force has its priorities all wrong. This is very serious stuff. It is here that the police are needed most. Are they up to it, or are we right to call them Keystone Cops?

  3. Matt says:

What is happening in Malta? How are these girls disappearing?

    • Interested Bystander says:

What concerns me is that the police are useless in these situations.

That poor Russian girl was lying dead for week and after autopsy they want to say she tripped and banged her head.

If they don’t suspect foul play, they won’t investigate to find any. I am very afraid that if a ‘foreign’ girl is missing for a week in Malta then it will not have a happy ending.

It will only be when a local girl is found dead that there will be an outcry.

      • AJS says:

If the New Year’s tragedy is anything to go by, like the police, I’d keep mum about any details.

  4. Brussels says:

    Daphne, I will circulate.

  5. lola says:

In the other case it was not human trafficking. It was a tragic accident. It was a pity that the girl was not found earlier. I pity her parents, who lost their only child.

    • Leo Said says:

      @ Lola:

How do you come to the conclusion that “it was a tragic accident”? What is your forensic experience?

  6. Rita says:

Thank you Daphne and god bless you.

  7. j spiteri says:

    She has been found.

  8. injorant says:

    Thank God she’s been found

  9. malcolm says:

    Found….no sad ending, thank God.

  10. Kurt Mifsud Bonnici says:

The Times is now reporting that she’s been found in Bugibba. Some good news at last.

  11. malicia says:

Daphne, thank you for sharing. You rule!

There are reports that Agnes was found. Brilliant news and even better response of the public here in Malta.

Over 3000 shares of the poster and tons of comments and positive thoughts.

We have passed a great test as a community and as a nation.

The outcome was enormous and so positive. Every single person who helped should be thanked.

I am so happy that we managed to find Agnes safe and sound and that we have proven to ourselves that we are well organized and caring.

Hopefully we will keep it a little bit longer:)

    Hugs, Mal

  13. ivanf says:

Hungarian girl found. Police are still looking for the guy in the background for ‘tampering’ :)

  14. Peter Pan says:

    Stop the press!
I was reading elsewhere this young lady has been found.

  15. still wicked says:

….and it turns out to have been a colossal waste of time and energy. Still, hearts in the right place and all that.

  16. kram says:

Looks like she was found in Qawra but no further info available yet

  17. Ahjar min imbarazz says:

    It-tfajla instabet.

  18. Stanley J A Clews says:

But don’t blame the police who are doing their best in the difficult circumstances especially at Paceville.

And I’m sure many parents are not doing their duties towards their children. Nevertheless if anyone can put out this appeal it is you, Daphne.
