The Moviment Bla Isem: completely morally corrupt, or just living in a parallel universe?

Published: July 19, 2012 at 1:56pm

Labour star candidate Manuel Mallia with his most notorious client, Meinrad Calleja

On yesterday’s Realta, which has moved along with its presenter Brian Hansford from Super One to the national television station, in what can only be – because Hansford is so amazingly bright and gifted – a merit-driven exercise, the hot topic was (obviously) Richard Cachia Caruana.

And who was there to represent the Malta Labour Party/Moviment Bla Isem? Why, Meinrad Calleja’s defence lawyer, Moviment Bla Isem star candidate Manuel Mallia. Of course.

To the Malta Labour Party, this would follow logically. To everyone else (people with a brain and no lanzit, who generally don’t vote Labour), this is plain insanity.

Or just downright moral corruption.

Isn’t Joseph Muscat planning to field this old toad on in the tal-pepe district (ghax avukat u posh hafna, God bless)? How does he think the resurrection of the Meinrad Calleja scandals plays out there?

Oh, I almost forgot. He’s from Burmarrad and wouldn’t have a clue. Dawk tal-pepe alien species.

That’s a good picture for his election poster/flyer.

I think writing about Richard Cachia Caruana’s attempted murder and Meinrad Calleja’s trial would do ample good, especially to the thousands of unknowing young voters.

Criminal defence lawyers can be so predictable, using an example to illustrate how Super One’s allegation is being taken out of context.

‘Habib tieghi Francis, What if I were to say that someone once defined Fenech Adami as a village lawyer?’

I happened to watch Realta last night and I just could not beleive my ears.

I have known Manwel Mallia for many years and always admired him as one of the best criminal lawyers around but last night he was such a flop that if I were him I would stick to being a lawyer.

Every time he spoke he tried to leave an impression that by making a show the way he performs in court he was convincing, but he failed completely.

Politics is not an old-style jury trial.

He said that the PN is no longer the party he knew some years back when he partnered Gianella Caruana Curran, that it has changed for the worse, but he should have said that he is not the Manwel Mallia of years back when he was a staunch PN follower like all his family.

Manwel, you are making a big mistake. It just doesn’t suit you to be an MLP candidate and you will regret it, my friend.

May I suggest a re-run of some of the Meinrad Calleja scandals for those among us who forgot or have no clue what these scandals are?

The debate on Super One was a lot more interesting than Manuel Mallia’s monologue on TVM’s Realta.

The ‘star’ guest was Godfrey Grima, who is suffering from memory loss besides talking rot.

He asserted that “zgur li “JPO’s Mistra contract was revealed a week before the elections, since he was chairing the debate, and the PN chose a cover-up of the scandal.

Beppe Fenech Adami replied that this was completely false, as JPO’s Mistra contract came to light on the last day of the campaign – and had it appeared a week before, the PN would surely have acted differently and the PN would not have the problem today.

Then Godfrey was insistant about the leadership skills of Joseph Muscat, who will definitely be another Fenech Adami. X wicc tost.

To which Michael Falzon immediately replied. ” How interesting you are using Fenech Adami as the benchmark of a great leader, and not Mintoff.”

I just loved the way he kept going on “I am not going to talk about the merits of this case” – typical lawyer, the merits of a case are immaterial, all that counts is the bullshit lawyer spiel.
