Franco is still obsessing about his mother (reducing his marriage chances to zero, I suspect)

Published: August 23, 2012 at 10:42am

Min jaf kemm kienet proud il-mummy. U min jaf kemm hassu sabih Franco.

Look at this exchange on his blog’s comments-board, with somebody who pointed out the obvious to him: that his mother should never have gone on Xarabank (on state television) to tell the nation in fond tones about how clever her boy was (and how pushy already…) when doing his ‘priedka tal-Milied’.

In doing that, both she and her son should have expected the odd bit of mockery, because that’s political life in a democracy.

Incidentally, I had no idea Franco’s English is so atrocious. He actually uses Semitic syntax to construct English sentences.

Then mummy should have stayed at home. That’s life and that’s the law.

@M : Why mummy should have stayed at home? Is this Russia? Pls note in the same program there was simon busuttil s mum and deborah schembri s father. What is this hatred?

Franco, I do not hate you or your mother. In fact, i feel a bit bad whenever i reply to the absurd; but a handful of people take you seriously so it may hd worth commenting.

I do not think that you can be protected from public scrutiny if you parade yourself on tv (which is now perpetuated on YouTube). So if mummy doesn’t like this, or more to the point if you don’t, she should never have turned up to say how wonderful you were at your first exhibition on Xmas eve.

@ M
usually under public scrutiny is not a mother who is invited once on TV in alight christmas programme and says her son had done the ‘priedka tal-milied’ but hose politicians who are suspected of corruption, or who mismanage. those are under scrutiny.

mela qeghdin ir-russja nerga nghidlek.kellek bzonn taghmel l-istess fuss fuq austin gatt u l-arroganza tieghu. mela ghax ommi giet darba f’hajjitha fuq it-tv u tkellmet tajjeb fuiq binha! x affarijiet dawn mela ommok x’tghid fuqek jaqaw!!? sorry ta

      Where to begin?

      1. What members of parliament to is every voter’s business.
      2. People who wish to keep their lives private, live private lives.
      3. Anything posted on the internet cannot be a secret.
      4. People need only be ashamed by their own actions, and not by what others say about them.

    • IMHO says:

none, only a half wit would think that that was a secret conversation. It’s displayed by Franco Debono on a blog called Franco Debono.

If you don’t like what you read, you always have the option of not reading it at all..

She has nothing better to do it seems! What a waste of life indeed! She does nothing useful to this earth other than instigate hatred instead of love. Hon. Eddie Fenech Adami suffered so much and yet you never heard him say anything evil against anyone anzi he used to tell us and still does to forgive. Well she surely is a disgrace to the Nationalist party (the real Nationalist Party not GonziPn)!

    • Angus Black says:

Hmmm.. same writing style of Franco’s. Truly birds of a feather flock together, unless it is the same bird who wrote the above!
Franco is a public figure and the public is free to express its opinion regarding his child-like behaviour, his over-inflated ego and his disloyalty to the very same Party under whose banner he was elected.

    • Matt B says:

It seems as if you’re one of those many idiots who need things spelt out for them, so I’ll do it for you. Just this once though.

This is everyone’s business because Franco, being in the public eye, exposes himself to this as soon as he does something ridiculously stupid. Which, in his case, is the norm.

Nothing remains a secret when someone goes out into the open and proclaims it accordingly.

If Daphne wrote something about myself or you, being private citizens, when we did not do anything worthy of being ‘public knowledge’, then you would be right. But alas, in this case, you’re not.

Now go back behind the mountains once more and enjoy a cuppa.

“I don’t like what you are saying but I will defend with my life your right to say it.”

Hard to imagine these words from the average politician in Malta.

  3. cat says:

Marriage is a vocation. Either you go for it with all your heart or stay with mum. I know that there are plenty of “mammoni” who got married the same, unfortunately they remain mummy’s children and this reflects badly on their marriage.

If he’s is a real mummy’s boy and decides to live forever with his mum, he’s doing the right thing. That is his place and not marriage.

  4. Bubu says:

“Incidentally, I had no idea Franco’s English is so atrocious. He actually uses Semitic syntax to construct English sentences.”

The thing is (paraphrasing) he’s too busy fighting the stallions of corruption to check his posts for errors.

    Yes, he actually said that.

  6. ..daphne, simon busuttil’s (the future pn-leader) mother was also there… you did not comment on that didn’t you?!

I like reading your blog, but sometimes you are too biased!!!

  9. Joe Borg says:

Yes these hard line Mintoffians appear to be proud to admit that only their adorable leader managed to bring this peaceful people on the brink of a civil war.

State funeral – do we really know what we are doing?

  10. Antoniette says:

I have just paid a visit to Franco’s blog, my goodness, he’s beyond help isn’t he?

Apart from all the other rubbish, he really thinks he’s handsome.

I saw him at Valletta earlier this year, and he is short, has a walk that reminds me of Charlie Chaplin and, worst of all, his shoulders are pathetically narrow.

The poor chap looks awful in a suit; we all know men look so much more masculine with lovely wide shoulders.

[Daphne – Forget the shoulders. The problem with most Maltese men is the legs.]

He is saying that Austin is ugly and needs to impress his beautiful wife. First of all, most women do not like “pretty” men but, more to the point, it looks like Franco is trying to make up for his lack in physical stature by making as much noise as possible.

If only he could put his insecurities behind him and grow up- it wouldn’t make a difference in his political career, too late for that now-but it might help him become a more balanced individual.

  11. Claire says:

Now that Franco will not be allowed to contest with the PN I suppose he will be preparing to participate in some Mr Universe context with those looks – what else?

  12. Fernando says:

    Trid?

[Daphne – Gosh, are you Joseph Muscat’s secret weapon? With vote-magnets like you, how can any woman resist voting Labour just as you do? Oh dear God, I’ve just had a horrid thought! You’re Franco!]

  13. Mike says:

He never gets the point does he. He retorts with comparisons between himself and those commenting on his blog yet he forgets that he is a politician and very much under the public eye while those commenting are not.

  14. Claire galea says:

    Mr Universe – such looks.

  15. Peter says:

Why did you remove your piece about Mintoff shagging his sister-in-law? Were you scared of repercussions?

[Daphne – No, I had to check some facts and still haven’t done so. Then I’ll reupload it.]

  16. reader says:

do you consider yourself as a journalist?

    • Lilla says:

      Correction:

That would be “Do you consider yourself a journalist?”

You’re not really a ‘reader’ are you?

  17. Giliani says:

    Nothing new here.
Just Daphne up to her usual tricks. Smelling others people shit. As she has nothing better to do.

PS: If you have a problem with my English, deal with it.

[Daphne – It’s not your English that raises eyebrows. It’s your turn of phrase.]

  18. leslie says:

shut the fuck up daphne, and one day you’ll eat yr oun words

  19. Thaddeus2000 says:

I happened to come across this mural whilst on the internet and couldn’t hwlp but noticing how similar Franco Debono and the second astronaut from the left are.

It is rather apt don’t you think?

Atsto-Franco just standing there whilst all around him the actually clever PN team is busy working away.

In fact if it wasn’t for his space-suit, or in Francos case the thousand and something votes which he so readily brags about, you wouldn’t think he belongs there.

  20. Charles says:

Kemm tiflah taqa fil baxx daphne, you’re not a qualified journalist. Vergognati eh, veramente vergognati!! Immissek tisthi, i will be the first to make a campagne so you can stop. This is not journalism eh, this is fack job.

[Daphne – Journalists don’t get qualifications like lawyers and doctors, Charles. It’s campaign, not campagne. What’s a fack job?]

  22. Antoine Vella says:

This is another thing Franco Debono shares with Labour: every time he is criticised, he starts moaning about hatred.

Somebody was accusing me on Facebook that I hated Mintoff and I told them that he did not even deserve that sentiment. Do we hate garbage? Do we hate vermin?

No, of course we don’t hate them, we just want to be rid of them.
