Andrew Azzopardi has interviewed Jason Micallef for his website. Here is an excerpt.

Bi hsiebek tikkontesta ghall-elezzjoni li gejja?

Jason Micallef: Iva.

Din mhiex inkonsistenza ma’ dak li kien qed jissemma’ li inti mhux ha tinvolvi ruhek fil-kampanja elettorali bhala kandidat?

Jason Micallef: Meta kmieni din is-sena (Jannar) dehret u nqalghet il-possibilita’ li pajjizna jista’ jkollu elezzjoni qabel iz-zmien, minnufih accettajt bil-qalb il-proposta tal-Mexxej Labursita Dr Joseph Muscat biex nibqa’ lura halli nkun nista’ nuza’ l-esperjenza tieghi fl-Amministrazzjoni tal-PL fit-tmexxija tal-elezzjoni, u l-mezzi tax-xandir tal-Partit Laburista.

Kif taf, minn dakinhar sal-lum is-sitwazzjoni nbidlet meta Gonzipn baqa’ ggranfat mas-siggu tal-poter. Wara li tkellimt mal-Mexxej tieghi Joseph Muscat, qbilna li nista’ nerga’ noffri s-servizzi tieghi bhala kandidat Laburista fl-elezzjoni generali li jmiss fuq il-11 -il distrett elettorali maghmul mil-Mosta, H’ Attard, Hal-Balzan u l-Mdina.

Fl-istess waqt ninsab sodisfatt ukoll li sar titjib u tlestew progetti godda fuq il-mezzi tax-xandir u komunikazzjoni tal-PL skont kif kien ippjanat sal-bidu ta’ dan is-Sajf, tant li dalwaqt inhabbar progett gdid fjamant li konna qed nahdmu sew fuqu fl-ahhar sena.

Jigifieri, qed taghmel id-decizjoni li tikkontesta l-elezzjoni generali bl-approvazzjoni u l-backing tal-Mexxej?

Jason Micallef: Assolutament.

If I were living in Mosta, I’d move out at this point. Anglu Farrugia is bad enough.

  2. Jozef says:

    ‘Mexxej Labursita Dr Joseph Muscat…’

    ‘Mexxej tieghi Joseph Muscat….’

  3. Jake Farrugia says:

If it is the case it also means that Joseph Muscat is now convinced there will not be an early election.

So why is he saying otherwise in the media and at his ‘hangouts’?

Could he stop bugging everyone and putting spokes in the wheels of our economy? Stop scaring off business, will you. Just get ready in silence, and when your turn comes we’ll see what you’re made of – hopefully.

Xi dnub mhux ser ikun juza l-esperjenza tieghy fit-tmexxija ta’ l-elezzjoni. Kull meta ghamel hekk, il-PL tilef.

Rumours have it that Anglu Elephant Farrugia is throwing a party for Jason on the eve of the Santa Marija feast in Mosta.

  6. Paul says:

I cannot start to imagine the internal fighting poor Joseph will have to face when prime minister in a few months’ time.

He has lost control of the situation already – he can’t even control Jason Micallef – now, when still in Opposition, let alone when in government.

    God, please help us.

  7. ciccio says:

Planning to elbow the future Deputy Prime Minister, isn’t he?

What if he gains more number 1 votes than Gadget?

  8. Toninu says:

Fuq tlieta toqghod il-borma. Anglu, Jason … who’s next?

  9. TinaB says:

If the electorate is smart enough Jason Micallef’s canditature should cost the PL yet another defeat in the coming elections.

    • Qeghdin Sew says:

Rather, I think it’s a golden opportunity to get rid of him for good. Imagine the blow to Franco Debono’s ego if he’s still not allowed to contest, and consequently won’t get elected, in the coming elections.

    • anna caruana says:

      And this worries you TinaB?

      • TinaB says:

Anna, if I was certain that the electorate is smart enough I would have absolutely no reason to be worried – what worries me, very much, is the contrary.
