My, they’re cunning as foxes (not the sort of ‘fox’ you get in a Mintoffian insult)
The Most Feminist Movement of Liberals and Progressives was presented with a problem in its first post-Godfrey-Grima-logo mass meeting ever.
Dawk il-bastids se jaqbdu jigu bil-bandieri tal-MLP. Issa x’se naghmlu, ras? Dawk se nergghu inwerwruhom lil tal-pepe.
Nghidulhom biex jixtru bandiera mil-godda – skont specjali ghal min jixtri tnejn.
Mela dawk se jitfghu l-bandiera li ghandhom fiz-zibel halli jonfqu l-flus jixtru ohra? Daqs kemm ghandhom qamel.

OLD MLP FLAGS ARE SWAPPED
The Labour Party’s first mass meeting this year was characterised by a PR stunt – supporters were invited to swap their old MLP flags for a PL one emblazoned with the party’s new logo.
And as the TV cameras swooped above the throng of thousands gathered at the Ta’ Qali pavilion, the effects of the flag swap could be clearly seen.
Gone was the sea of torch-adorned red flags that have characterised PL mass meetings for decades.
In their stead, excited supporters brandished white ‘Partit Laburista’ banners as they sang the national anthem during the mass meeting’s closing.
Not that the past banners were completely eradicated: the odd red flag continued to fly in the evening sky, with their owners unaware – or perhaps uninterested – in the PL’s flag swap.
And as the camera zoomed in on the crimson crowd, another thing became evident: many PL supporters, through conviction or sheer attraction to the colour red, are Manchester United supporters.

Dom Mintoff must be turning in his grave.

emblazoned ….. thesaurus working overtime at The Times?
Someone also looked up “crowd” and found “throng”. I also looked at that crowd and found many a thong.
Down boy! Down!
‘In their stead…” Ooooohhh!
Two parties – the reds and the whites – under one leader.
That’s not bad.
A coalition in opposition.
So that’s what Joseph meant ‘get over the past’. It sounds a bit like the vehicle-scrapping scheme.
They also had a VIP section at the front. Strictly reserved for hajkless progressives and members of the party.
The plebs were rounded into pens at the back.
Labour supporters paid for the flag the day afterwards. It was a fundraising day on the eve of the start of scholastic year, when most children go home with a long list of things that have to be bought. But people can afford it these days, only thanks to a PN government.
