Sur President,
Nixtieq niġbed l-attenzjoni dwar żviluppi politici f’Malta f’dawn l-aħħar xhur.
Fl-2008 il-Partit Nazzjonalista rebaħ l-aħħar elezzjoni ġenerali b’maġġoranza relattiva ta’ 49.3% li tfisser maġġoranza ta’ ta’ Membru Parlamentari wieħed.
Fl-aħħar xhur din il-maġġoranza fil-Parlament ġarrbet telfiet f’voti importanti. Deputati min-naħa tal-gvern għal diversi drabi astjenew u saħansitra vvutaw kontra l-linja tal-Gvern u sahansitra gew sfiducjati Ministri.
Kien hemm ukoll riżenja ta’ deputat mill-grupp Parlamentari fil-gvern. Dan fisser li l-Partit fil-gvern m’għadx għandu maġġoranza stabbli fil-Parlament imma għandu biss ftehim ta’ koalizzjoni ma’ dan id-deputat.
F’Malta l-gvern qiegħed imexxi mingħajr maġġoranza assoluta tal-poplu warajh u mingħajr maġġoranza stabbli ta’ deputati. Il-Parlament ilu xhur ma jiffunzjona kif suppost. Ix-Xandir tal-istat huwa manipulat mill-Partit fil-gvern.
Sitwazzjoni bħal din tessigi li gvern imur mill-ġdid għall-ġudizzju demokratiku tal-poplu, jiġifieri elezzjoni. Il-Gvern Nazzjonalista dan m’għamlux.
Quddiem sitwazzjoni ekonomika ta’ kriżi, Malta għandha bżonn Gvern stabbli u li kapaċi jmexxi mingħajr inċertezzi.
Nappella lill-Parlament Ewropew biex issegwi mill-qrib din is-sitwazzjoni f’Malta.

Why does he imagine the EP should do anything about this?
It’s funny how the resident Eurosceptic never says anything about this particular waste of EU funds.
If Cuschieri believes that the European Parliament would give a s**t about his personal opinion on purely domestic affairs, then we are truly poorly represented there by him – as if we didn’t know, you will add.
In democratic Europe, it is run-of-the-mill for members of parliament to vote against their own party, so what is this Joseph saying, which the other Joseph doesn’t tell his congregation every Sunday? U hallina.

Yes, I agree that the fact that the power station is working is shameful. For once, Eddy, I share the same views as you on this.
However, what you fail to omit is that the fault and all penalties are to be paid by the contractor. This means that the taxpayer is not going to be paying a cent (and rightly so) for this anomaly.
But of course, with Labour, you never get the full picture. Indeed, many a time, you never get THE picture.

Ahhh! And as a response to Joseph’s speech, the European Parliament will drop all the Syrian and economic crisis agendas and will start negotiating the terrible situation in Malta.

And by the way, this government is in power due to the majority of votes gained in a free election, obviously not the 1981 election.

It is the President of the Republic, not the European Parliament, who will determine whether a government enjoys the confidence of the House, after a vote on a question of confidence, which has not yet taken place.
