And yet, Franco Debono knows better
Franco Debono is all out against Health Minister Joe Cassar, and is gearing up for yet another ‘Ha, hu go fik‘ mossa
(You know, you can really picture this man armed with a flick-knife in some turf war among the Italian immigrant community on the streets of 1930s New York.)
Meanwhile, the latest Eurobarometer survey says that the majority of Maltese respondents are, as The Times reports today:
satisfied with the health system, describing it as much better than compared with five years ago.
Eighty two per cent described Malta’s health care provision as good – a much better result than the 62 per cent average obtained in the rest of the EU.
But Franco Debono knows better. And so does the Labour Party.
The real reason for Franco’s paranoiac obsession, I imagine, is that he suspects the health minister, who is a psychiatrist, to have been diagnosing his behaviour.

What an idiot Franco Debono is, my God.
The only reason I am looking forward to an early election is to get rid of this vindictive bastard because I really have had enough of him, and if I were Dr Gonzi after the elections I would call for his expulsion from the party.
His expulsion from the party is expected to take place the moment an election is called.
Maybe a few hours later, at most.
Failure to do this will cost the PN dear.
Genuine PN supporters cannot stomach egocentric, opportunists like Debono. He is not a Nationalist and he should never have been a party member in the first place.
Which is why we can’t stomach Austin Gatt also.
“Expulsion from the party” – is that what you get for promoting democracy? The oligarchy steals bright ideas and promotes them as their own, and the true prodigies are left with crumbs on the table! Hekk sew?
Teamwork? Synergy? ‘Promoting democracy’, not even in a village band club….
“After the elections?” My God that’s gross.
Any self respecting politician, in a similar situation, just months away from the deadline of a legislature, would not think twice to sack him from the party. Its not like it will render the situation any worse for the Nationalist Party.
Speaking of which, anyone has an idea what the Prime Minister is on about when he states that “there will be consequences”?
Mandango, got some memo from Marisa to implement the undecided-PN-voter-who’ll-vote-for-Joseph-now-that-it’s-safe spiel have you?
”I really have had enough of him”
Rest assured that all we Maltese are fed up of this empty vessel….. but let us all take heart as the time is nigh for his absolute vanishing into wilderness.
Hekk, hu go fik, Franco.
Franco really does give a new meaning to vindictiveness. What an ignorant man!
Franco wants revenge .He has his reasons. The man is obviously hurt. Gonzi left him out inspire of being a resourceful person.I think it is a clash of characters. In my opinion both are victims.
On the other hand it is like watching a comedy, and a very hilarious and tragic at the same time.
[Daphne – Franco is the product of the sort of upbringing you consider admirable, Lola. I trust you realise this. Hurt? Grown men don’t go about parading their feelings and saying they’re hurt, or expecting to have the most abominable behaviour excused on those grounds.]
Not just a psychiatrist but a very good one at that too – one of the best on the island.
However, I suspect that Franco has been led to believe this rumour not that it is true.
To be fair, he hasn’t practised in a long time now.
Dr. Joe Cassar has claimed that he has not done any profiling of Franco Debono for the PN, consistent with professional ethics.
However, because of Minister Cassar’s rational and professional acumen, he is a natural target for Franco Debono’s rampages. And the (Malta) Labour Party have no moral qualms about exploiting Franco, within the general abuse of democracy that the PL-Debono tandem has been and currently represents.
Meanwhile, professionals or not, the rest of us, along with Minister Cassar in his unofficial capacity, as rational persons can continue to profile Debono all we want, with very likely similar psychiatric conclusions.
Of course, the PL will come to an opposing conclusion regarding their analysis of Debono.
If one Debono is (and has been, and likely will be) disastrous for the country and all of its inhabitants (regardless of class or cultural or educational background), imagine a future PL government in the image of Debono clones in their anti-rationality or just plain delusional incompetence.
Yes, it is possible for the whole country to slip over the edge, pulled into the abyss through the perversities of an immature or emotionally driven electorate–unless rationality gains the upper hand in the general election sweepstakes.
The problem is internationally universal, not just only Maltese.
On the other hand, another Quixotic tilt by Debono at the windmills of his imagination regarding the present government could provide a sympathetic swing of anger among rationalists, towards more votes in favour of the PN.
Even an emotional component is required for rational behavior among voters (if one also believes that a decisive number of voters still can be rational).
I am making no predictions, except for my (rational) opinion of the tragedy of one scenario over the other. Malta could end up with its own version of Sarah Palin for PM, not from Alaska, but from Burmarrad. Joseph Muscat is no Obama.
I find Franco’s reasoning frightening and highly incoherent.
He figures out the result he wants then chucks words at it to justify it. But it does not work that way.
He is hell bent on bringing down the government before Christmas – resulting in a disastrous Christmas for retailers. He is already blaming Dr Gonzi for this but the single action to bring down the government is HIS – not Gonzi’s – HIS.
Gonzi has a duty and responsibility to present a budget and continue to govern.
Franco has the same responsibility to support the government he was elected with.
Nonetheless he has pronounced himself and will bring down the government. his timing will destroy the Christmas shopping sprees as we all brace ourselves for the 5 years of discontent and economic woe – otherwise why else would we have a disastrous Christmas.
We will stop spending in anticipation of hard times – and there will only be one person the retailers will blame – the person that brought about an early election – Franco Debono.
How could one expel Debono from a party he has already resigned from? And if he, as he is stating, resigned from the party, how come he is still in parliament on the PN ticket?
What’s this Daphne, afraid to post the comments of a disillusioned Nationalist? :)
Didn’t get your permit?
Why doesn’t Franco offer his services? It’s right up his street.

Franco needs help. Just look in his eyes and you will see that. One minute on and one minute off. Muscat knows about this and instead being mature and helping him to get out from it he takes advantage on his health. Shame.
