Franco, I mock you because I despise you, and not because anybody tells me to do so

Published: October 12, 2012 at 7:44pm

That backwoods bunny in a suit, an expensive watch and a seat in parliament has removed his blog-post comparing the prime minister to Adolf Hitler.

Fortunately, I have the screen shots, which are uploaded in an earlier post.

But shall I quote his most appalling lines once again? And please don’t run away with the idea that the comparison to Hitler is the appalling bit (though it is that, too). What is far more shocking is his “what he made ME AND THE COUNTRY go through”.

One man and his ego equated to an entire nation, however small that nation is.

Gonzi will go down in history as Malta’s Hitler. I can say that after what he made me and this country go through. With his blessing campaigns of moral violence to exterminate those who disagree with him and the Clique are the order of the day.

You don’t know me, Franco, but plenty of people do. Nobody tells me what to write or how to write it, nobody tells me what to do, and nobody even dares try.

I laugh at you, criticise you, poke fun at you, tear you to shreds and mock you to kingdom come of my own volition. I consider you to be ludicrous, destructive, narcissistic to the point where you have tipped over the edge, freakishly abnormal (thank God for that), and driven by the resentful anger that fuelled some of the worst and most murderous figures in history, with the difference that there is only so much damage that Franco Debono of Malta can do within his little pond in 21st-century Europe.

If you were not wreaking havoc on the otherwise peaceful life of these two small islands, you would be just a figure of fun. But you are far too violent (it is not always physical) and driven by vengeance to be only the object of mockery.

You are also an object of contempt. Anyone who seeks to be associated with you at this stage will be tainted and damaged, and that includes Joseph Muscat and his sorry, ragtag party.

You belong in their skip but they would be mad to have you.

The only consolation for us all – and yes, that includes the Labour Party and its supporters, who find you as tiresome as everyone else does but for whom you are temporarily a useful tool – is that as soon as you vote against the Budget and parliament is dissolved, you will become an irrelevance.

Yes, Franco, at some point in December you will cease to matter. You will have relegated yourself to squawking on the lunatic fringe along with Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici and his friend Sammy Meilaq.

No, Franco, I don’t have the prime minister’s blessing, never did, never will have, and I don’t want or need it. The prime minister of a democratic country does not bless blogs or condemn them.

That’s not how it works.

But being the backwoods bunny you really are, you wouldn’t know that. Sadly, far too many politicians gave you the time of day when you badgered them with your complaints about my “attacks” on you. They did so because they thought you would flip your switch again if they didn’t.

What they really should have done, and no doubt they can see that now, is put their boot up your backside and kick you downstairs.

Your world does not extend beyond your aviaries in Hal Ghaxaq and Cafe Cordina in Valletta, where you hold court with people who despise you but who are too cowardly and double-dealing to show you their true feelings to your face by doing what I do and cutting you dead.

You are absolutely, utterly despicable, and far, far too egocentric and lacking in emotional intelligence to work out, still less understand immediately, that those who are egging you on despise you as much as I do. Nobody likes a total jerk, even if they use that jerk to their own end and purpose.

Rot in hell, Franco Debono. And before you take that literally, it’s a time-honoured insult in a language you barely understand because you learned it far too late in life and from the wrong sort of people.

  4. Tinnat says:

Franco has silently boycotted a number of the regular commenters on his blog – the ones who don’t agree with him, naturally.

His posts have become a series of increasingly highly-strung rants. He does not answer any legitimate questions put to him – his sole aim is to foment anger against the government.

He is certainly despicable, but more than anything he should be pitied, because it’s clear that he’s battling some personal demons.

The craziness of it all is that the system is not able to push him aside.

    • La Redoute says:

The irony is that Franco says Malta’s undemocratic, even as he demonstrates ad nauseum that Malta’s democracy means he cannot be pushed aside.

  8. George Grech says:

Let us show him that it’s too late to erase it now and share your screen shots on our FACEBOOK pages.

The PN should present a motion of no confidence in him in parliament and see whether the PL will vote against it. That way the PL will really have the opportunity to expose their true colours.

[Daphne – You cannot present a motion of no confidence in a member of parliament. You can only present it against a cabinet minister. This is because a motion of no confidence presupposes that there will be a resignation. A backbencher has no position from which to resign and a member of parliament cannot be forced to resign his seat.]

Isn’t he a parliamentary assistant or something? Isn’t that a ministerial post? Can he be made to resign from that?

Incidentally, if Lawrence Gonzi, alas, had even a smidgen of moral fibre, he’d have fired Debono from this post long ago. Sometimes I just can’t understand our PM.

      • Homer says:

I think it’s a smart move by Gonzi. He gave Franco enough rope, and Franco duly obliged and hanged himself – proving himself to be a crass hypocrite, by having no qualms to pocket a salary he did not earn whilst shamelessly simultaneously claiming to being discriminated against.

Franco is now as credible as ‘Comical Ali’, Saddam Hussein’s foreign minister, claiming that “American troops were losing, and committing mass suicide at the gates of Baghdad” (stated to foreign TV crews, whilst American tanks could be heard rumbling in the background).

      • Baxxter: Your PM is a coward at heart, that’s why !

[Daphne – You may have failed to notice, Mr Privitera, but he’s your PM too.]

      • Snoopy says:

I think that Homer is right. If the PM had fired Franco, he would have ended up in his trap. This way Franco is hanging himself with the same rope that he himself made.

If you had to analyse the situation well, you would notice that the PM is using the Franco situation to his and the PN’s best advantage. Franco might end up to be the best asset in the PN’s electoral arsenal.

      • Sorry Daphne, I do not consider him “MY” PM. If he were, he would make sure that when he spends my money which I pay in taxes, he would at least consult my representatives in parliament !

[Daphne – Unbelievable. Is this how you understand parliamentary democracy?]

    • Clifford says:

A parliamentary assistant can be forced to resign, though.

      • Daphne. If my comment is ” Unbelievable”, then your idea of parliamentary democracy is ludicrous. Because you are supporting a government when you know that GonziPN Is IN A MINORITY in parliament. So much so that Gonzi is afraid to bring any motion before parliament , tabled by Franco Debono or the PL, because he knows the government will be defeated !

How’s that for ” parliamentary democracy” a la Gonzi ???

    • Village says:

Surely such a behaviour coming from a public official in the form of a member of parliament and a parliamentary assistant should be condemned and reprimanded if not worse. The employing bodies are duty bound to react.

Not sure whether the President of Malta has a role in all this as well. If I am not mistaken a Commission within his remitt is obliged to investigate the behaviour of public officials in the government’s employ.

  9. DebonoGrech#1FAN says:

Franco is in fact a disposable tool which will wear out and put in the rubbish bin in a couple of weeks.

Honestly I’m still astonished by how Franco thinks he’s got so many followers and so much power which drives him to constantly spit out his daily dose of nonsense.

The truth is that he is only being used temporarily by PL and it’s supporters so they can run the government as soon as possible. After the election simply NOBODY will give a damn about him.

Looking forward for your big fall Franco.

How is that Franco Debono doesn’t want to understand that you ,Daphne, don’t take orders from anybody.

[Daphne – He knows I don’t, because he is frightened of me, and never rings me himself but badgers all kinds of other people about my ‘behaviour’.]

    • Daphne: Then challenge Franco for a face-to-face encounter on TV, which Lawrence Gonzi is afraid to do ? Of course you won’t. You are only good hiding behind your computer !

[Daphne – I am pretty goon in a face to face argument, too, Mr Privitera, as some have discovered to their cost. I have absolutely no reason to or interest in ‘challenging’ a member of parliament to a debate on television. I am neither a talk show host nor a rival politician, still less a journalist employed by a television station. If I’m going to do pro bono work, I’ll do it for a good cause.]

  14. Aunt Hetty says:

I think that the comparison to Hitler is pathetic, childish and ridiculous. Not worthy of any sort of mention.

    • Angus Black says:

No, but worthy of exposing what this twerp is all about.

    • Josephine says:

It is not simply pathetic. It is also an insult to the memory of the millions of Jews – and others – who suffered so much because of Hitler. Surely Franco Debono isn’t comparing his “fate” to that of such people?

      • Angus Black says:

He is probably upset because he is now so lonely and isolated. He is like being marooned on a small island and surrounded by hundreds of sharks ready to gobble him up.

To Franco, the sufferings and deaths of six million Jews are nothing more than a story in his history book. Once he closed the book, the story went away but his sufferings at the hands of the Nationalist Party still hurt, miskin.

As a 14 year old in 1987, when Malta had just emerged from 16 years of deprivation, violence, political murder, empty shelves, no water etc, he should have been somewhat aware of how things were until a Nationalist government started to correct all the hurts and injustices.

  15. SPB says:

    Daphne, this is epic.

He’s really, really in a fix now. I honestly don’t know how much more of this his fragile ego can take.

Imagine how hard it was for him to remove the post for fear of being ripped to shreds.

  16. Ken il malti says:

Franco Debono should join Angelik Caruana in the unemployed queue.

Publicly comparing Lawrence Gonzi to Hitler is grounds for dismissal from the PN in my book.

Shame on you, Franco – one can tell you were born in 1974 and you are still all wet behind the ears besides being clueless about the suffering of our parents and grandparents in World War II.

    • La Redoute says:

Debono is quite clearly clueless about the Holocaust and the real meaning of suffering. How would he have coped with being sent to an extermination camp?

    • Jozef says:

Publicly comparing Lawrence Gonzi to Hitler, implying the PN should have seen it coming at Tal-Barrani are just a couple of them. He’s not alone in his ridicule.

Ramona Frendo this week said that this situation is even worse than the 1981 result. That one, she said, was stable given that it was the opposition that had walked out, whereas Mintoff’s government was fully functional.

It follows Deborah Schembri’s take on democracy, that 1981 was an acceptable situation given that legality wasn’t curtailed.

There’s this contest on at the moment, whoever manages to spout the most crass of insults to collective memory gets another appearance on Super 1.

If one had to look through all this, it’s all about exposure and its perks, TV and Cafe’ Cordina, Radio shows and the latest council for the progression of language, rights or whatever, you name it, they’re there.

    Ms. Caruana Galizia,

Dr. Franco Debono on his blog is insinuating that there is a Ministers who attends public meetings with his mistress in the presence of the Prime Minister.

He is also insinuating that this Minister employed his mistress.

Having a mistress or not is not our business, but if this Minister employed her in the Ministry then it’s a totally different story. Is this true?

As an independent journalist, do you know anything about this? As a regular reader of this blog, I would appreciate if you can clarify this.

Strangely enough, he uploaded this story on his blog, tonight while there was the Minister discussing the Civil Partnership Bill on TVM. Is he talking bullocks?

    Luigi

[Daphne – Franco Debono knows absolutely nothing about sex and human relationships, and he has been insinuating similar things about all manner of persons he does not like. He would be the last person I would go to for information on who is having sex with whom. He wouldn’t know a sexual relationship if it wore a neon pink tutu and danced a jig on his….cock (the one with feathers on, I hasten to add). Knowing the way his mind works, he is probably incensed at the very idea of somebody who has a seat in the cabinet, a wife and also a mistress, when he has none of those and is also going bald, while he has most definitely decimated his chances of finding any sort of wife worth having.]

  24. Joseph Vassallo says:

Franco Debono is not doing what he is doing out of love for his country, but because the PN has told him that he cannot contest on the PN ticket.

He has a vindictive personality. He has sworn to ruin Gonzi because he thinks that Gonzi has ruined him. He doesn’t understand that he brought this situation on himself.

  25. Matt says:

Daphne said she only spotted one, and never stated that he couldn’t have other 100s in the piece not shown on camera. Quite basic I think.

He cannot make a simple argument hold in his “blokk” and I’ll be surprised if he’ll be getting a lot of clients in the months to come unless they’re desperate.

    • Daphne: Only yesterday I spoke to a “nationalist” friend of mine ( you see, I have “nationalist” friends too !), who admitted that you have caused a lot of harm to the PN !!!!

So please carry on with your mission to destroy further what’s left of GonziPN. YOU’RE THE PL’S GREATEST ASSET !

[Daphne – Go away, Mr Privitera, and play on Franco’s blog. But of course it’s boring there among the sub-literates and freaks, isn’t it. A smart man like you wants better company.]

    • Galian says:

“… their thinking is defective, and you are a salient example of that.” … Priceless.

    • el bandido guapo says:

Eddy, being a Laburist, and, as you aptly pointed out, one who suffers from defective thinking, can’t differentiate between adjectives used to accurately describe a person’s personality and others which are simply baseless insults, the latter type a speciality of Labourites because that’s all their thinking skills can produce.

    • Angus Black says:

Have you counted “the many thousands” who write against Daphne? What is more important, while counting them, you should have asked what party they support.

By what you wrote, it is more likely that the ones using language which make Daphne’s “insults to Franco Debono , pale into insignificance” must come from the marmalja and hamalli. They can be found in scads in the Labour Party.

    • Monte bello says:

And, I would hasten to add, there are quite a few adjectives that many people reserve just for you, Privitera, you bitter, lonely, poisonous old fart. That chip on your shoulder must be huge.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

        Privitera, listen to this:

Come on Franco, to paraphrase Clint Eastwood: go on, make our weekend.

I wanted to share a picture, just to remind him of the reality of the holocaust. However, all the pictures are far too disturbing, and as I stared at the images on Google, I just could not bring myself to do it.

Franco, you couldn’t sink any lower. Perhaps the only similarity between you and the 6 million victims is that I cannot bear to look at any more pictures.

  46. Manuel says:

    Well said.

  47. mark calleja says:

how i would love to see your face when lp comes to power noting will hurt you more so why do they insult you you can insult franco as long as you want and yes he is full of himself but at least he did something he showed he is not a puppet what have you ever done apart from insulting poaple won a pulizer so grow up and use your writing for a good cause if franco dont bother you why write about him just hardliners applaud you no one else

  48. maryanne says:

If anyone still needs proof that Debono is dangerous, just take a look at what he wrote on his blog.

“I condemn the burning of the Times and all violence, but since we’re at it, why was the Times burnt?”

“If they report about a comment of mine then they should mention how Gonzi’s great uncle, the Archbishop, buried people in unconsecrated ground (il-Mizbla)….”

Why on earth is he hurt when people say he’s lost it?

  49. Carmen Borg says:

I know this is harsh but truly and honestly I think that Franco is suffering from a mental disorder, otherwise he would not be doing or saying these things.

A normal person wouldn’t behave like this especially not in his position. As much as you feel like throwing him into a lake, this is really sad and someone should help him before he does something stupid, because the way he’s going no one knows how far and what else he can do.

He’s so jealous and that’s not funny at all. On the contrary, he should be taken very seriously.

  50. Matt says:

Now I see no difference between a terrorist and Franco Debono. I feared them both. Irrational behaviour leads to massacre.

  51. Dickens says:

The longer the present government hangs on, the more opportunities the likes of Franco will find to carry on flinging dung all over the place unfortunately.

As it is, his political career is over, his professional and personal lives seem to be on hold (if one goes by all the time he is online tinkering with his blog). So what has he to look forward to except for washing mummy’s dishes, playing with his cock and ruining the reputation of his former colleagues?

  52. Joseph Vassallo says:

I know that Franco Debono reads your blog.

Franco, can you tell me why you have not accepted my comment this morning? Isn’t it true that you are not a member of the Government? You are just an MP.

You have NO right to tell the Government how to govern. Rebel MPs usually revolt against the government because of some law in particular. They do not attack on the basis of a general grudge.

You want to set the agenda yourself and you have no right to do so.

To do that you have to be PM or at least a member of the cabinet.

You want to select the cabinet for the PM, you want to tell him which laws to pass and which laws not to present to Parliament, etc.

You have mentally exhausted the country, the PM and probably also the opposition.

The reason why you are doing this is because you were asked not to contest on behalf of the PN because you were “naughty”.

  53. Joseph Vassallo says:

Let me clarify that by naughty I mean that you did not vote along party lines!

  54. Do any of Daphne and GonziPN fans truly believe that Gonzi and GonziPN will hear no more from Franco Debono after the election ???

How mistaken are you if you believe so ! Time will soon tell !!

    • el bandido guapo says:

      Wow, always getting it wrong.

Franco may well attempt to make further noises, but the whole point, which you as usual completely fail to comprehend, is that there will then be the option to ignore him completely, making his existence as relevant to Maltese politics as that of Mr Lee Who Kwan who owns a specialist bookshop in Seoul.

Eddy, please can you find us one properly intelligent Labourite and ask him/her to contribute in your stead?

I’m stumped, I have never met one.

    • winwood says:

How reassuring you sound, Privitera. Typical pillow talk. Jaqaw qed torqdu fl-istess sodda int u Debono?

    • TROY says:

Is there room in Franco’s padded cell, for Mr. Privitera?

  55. Stanley J A Clews says:

If we had concentration camps I would put Franco there but in his ignorance and stupidity he probably does not know what a concentration camp is.

  56. FP says:

He’s really put you where you belong now, Daphne.

You’ve been fooling all of Malta all this time, misleading us to think that he’s got only one 100 mark.

He’s now “published” his full Form IIC school report. And he’s got three 100’s and a 99, not just one.

So there. That should well and truly shut you up. For good.

  57. Alf says:

Franco, veru ghandek wicc ta’ qahba. Jghid x’jghid dak l-izmagat ta’ Eddy Privitera, l-aggettivi kollha negattivi jixirqulek. Ghal darb’ohra nerga nghidlek, mur sib Grieg forsi tistrieh u sserrah.

  58. FUHRER says:

Prosit Daphne, irnexxielek isserrah erba’ nazzjonalisti ddemoralizzati mill-kummenti li qed naqra….keep it up….se jkollok tikteb izjed artikli li jqawwu l-moral fil-futur qarib…loool

  59. Rumplestiltskin says:

Your blog post defines the expression: “Calling a spade a spade.” Good for you.

  60. Peter Cassar says:

I bet Debono will finance himself one billboard in the coming months.

  61. Paul Saliba says:

Eddy Privitera is notorious for his anti-PN sentiments; good luck to him!

He and his bosom ally (MLP-cum-PL-Moviment Gdid) have withered in the desert wilderness and doldrums for 25 years and still harping on the same old string ever since (some people really don’t ever learn).

We pity him as he has probably been overwhelmed by stress caused by unfulfilled dreams of seeing Labour back in power!

Well said, Daphne, and keep it up!

  62. Frankuni says:

EDDIE PRIVITERA DAK LI GRADWA MINN GHAR DALAM?

MHUX TA’ B’XEJN DIK IR-RIHA TA’ MOFFA KOLLHA!

  63. C says:

  64. Allamana says:

Should not the police immediately prosecute for his Hitler slur on the PM?

Or are the police afraid that they do not want to upset any applecarts belonging to any future Intnerior Minister?

[Daphne – For criminal defamation, the police can’t prosecute ex officio, but only at the request of the aggrieved party.]

  65. Marianne says:

Brilliant, Daphne You are the voice with truth and The Iron Lady with the courage fit to be a leader too.
