He’s going to heckle the European Commission from the sidelines, just like he does with the government in Malta

We are about to see John Dalli demonstrate all the character flaws and personality traits he has put to use in heckling the government and the man who beat him to become leader of the Nationalist Party.

This time, he’s going to try the same thing with the European Commission. The difference is that he is going to find out the meaning of the term ‘short shrift’.

He has begun already, with his ‘refusal to resign’ despite there being a new nominee for the post which he has been made to vacate.

Now he has found the time to write a round-robin letter to MEPs.

Read it here. MEPs letter

Apart from MEPs – he is speaking with the President of the European Parliament – Martin Schulz. It is reported that the Martin Schulz will be asking for more detail about the content of the OLAF report from Jose Barroso. He wants to make a martyr of himself. Lets see how.

  2. Tinnat says:

Brilliant. What a shame for Malta. They’re all having a laugh in Brussels.

And we’re seeing Franko doing exactly the same but in the opposite direction – writing blog posts which he expects President Barroso and the MEPs to read.

And by the way why is this prima donna attacking Tonio Borg and defending Dallu now? Has Dalli engaged him as his lawyer? Hitting two birds with one stone had never been easier.

    • Ghoxrin Punt says:

Was it not obvious that he would turn on Tonio Borg?

He is clearly the kind of person who is envious of the achievements of others. He cannot scrape the bottom of a barrel further

      @ Tinnat

Greed knows no bounds: creed, colour or name does not matter, as corruption, embezzlement and lies are the name of the game in today’s world, unfortunately.

And don’t you go thinking for a second that a Nordic country such as Sweden don’t have their own problems with corruption.

Just take an ongoing case, where a British and Swedish company are still facing charges of bribery, with South African officials regarding an arms deal.

It’s not only Southern European countries that are crooked…The whole world we live in, is crooked and warped…beyond our imagination, just read or watch the international news and then tell me what you make of it.

      • Jozef says:

Which is why OLAF insists it performed a swift thorugh investigation and that the set up works.

We can go on forever arguing what unambiguous circumstantial evidence is, what matters is the political message being sent out; John Dalli wasn’t on board with the other members.

He’s manna for all the eurosceptics and those who blame the Euro whilst investing in derivatives geared towards the Eurozone’s default.

        Superstate my ass.

    • Angus Black says:

In this regard, Franco is set to miss both birds. He may have better luck with his one prized fighting-cock.

  3. canon says:

We will soon have this drama serialised on television.

  4. Antoine Vella says:

I wonder what Dalli expects the MEPs to do. Reinstate him in defiance of Barroso?

  5. A. Charles says:

I felt sick and embarrassed when Dalli was thrown out by Mr. Barroso from the College of Commissioners. Now I am disgusted and ashamed with this letter. Dalli should disappear from the surface of the earth.

Dalligate is the new soap opera supported by Maltatoday and the Labour Party.

  8. A Montebello says:

“between THE said THE entrepreneur and the SNUS producers”?

Didn’t Dalli BA even proof-read his letter to the highest authorities in the EU?

  9. Village says:

The only man who managed to control Dalli at a heavy cost was Fenech Adami. Reducing his aura has proved to be even more expensive for Gonzi. But it now appears his fate has met a dead end in the EU.

  10. anthony says:

Alfred Sant has been proved right.

We were never fit to join the EU.

He was completely wrong though about his l-Isvizzera.

    He really meant Il-Maghreb.

Can you imagine Malta as the Med financial centre modelled on L-Isvizzera with Dalli running the show as finance minister?

It would make Bernard Madoff look like a philanthropist in comparison.
