They had to explain to him that after his (forced) resignation he was no longer an EU Commission official. Unbelievable.

From a report in The Sunday Times today (see previous post):

“Mr Dalli wanted us to issue a press release contradicting the position taken by Mr Barroso. We obviously couldn’t attend to Mr Dalli’s request and we had to explain to him that he was no longer a Commission official,” sources close to the press service said.

Did Dalli need to have it spelled out to him that a non-Commissioner has no right of access to the Commission’s offices or services?

Beyond the corruption, drab clothes, sloppy appearance, dreadful manners, none-too-bright brain and atrocious pronunciation, what I find most sorely offensive is his general ineptitude and ignorance of correct procedure.

If he were greedy and corrupt but knew correct procedure, he would probably have got away with a lot more because he would have been careful. But because he doesn’t know correct procedure or have any understanding of parameters, he has finally got caught.

Basically, he took his ‘u ejja ha mmorru’ attitude to Brussels and fudged it big-time.

    Che vergogna.

  2. Jozef says:

His appeal to Barroso smacks of an incapacity to distinguish between the roles and personal relations.

He had better just stitch it, at least to quit damaging our credibility.

I am very surprised that this incompetent Johnny Chewbaca got this far in life.

Saviour and Evarist have taken up the indhil barrani thingy.

Privitera was here yesterday accusing everyone of betraying one of our own.

Musumeci tomorrow, Hansford on Wednesday, Bundy on Friday and Hamilton on Saturday will do the same.

      Don’t be.

This is probably just the tip of the iceberg. One may expect more in the coming days.

The more Dalli speaks the more the noose tightens around his neck.

As people realise that he is no longer a threat more stories will be unveiled.

It is shameful that those in the know, and that includes the Prime Minister, allowed him full rein to unleash his worst both in Malta and abroad with the negative result it has produced. Congratulations to all concerned.

It is true that we are not responsible for the actions of others, but it was irresponsible of Dr. Gonzi to foist that particular incompetent wheeler-dealer on the European Commission, with an internationally exposed profile, just to get him out of his hair.

F**cking up in Malta is one thing, but f**cking Malta up on the international stage is definitely a graver sin.

I am not a believer in superlatives. Something is either good or bad and if it’s bad it’s unacceptable.

Amazing, before reading this post that sentence really hit me and I had to read it three times.

Honestly, I was going to draw your attention to it. It brought to mind somebody patiently spelling and intoning in simple English what it means to get out, move scram….

Joseph Calleja made Malta and the Maltese proud and the ex commissioner managed to cause us this embarrassment.

I believe Dr. Gonzi gave Mr. Dalli a chance to repent and get his act right.

[Daphne – Public life and politics are not an exercise in personal redemption, Natalie.]

His 25,000 euro monthly salary plus the rest of the perks should have been enough to get by surely.

I have to work 18 months for the amount he gets per month. But greed got the best of him. He used the high position to acquire a rope to hang himself with and I wonder if he will ever come out clean.

That will be the day he can start to rebuild his reputation.

I believe in Dr. Gonzi’s integrity, wisdom and sound moral values now more than ever.

Iz-zejt dejjem jitla f’wicc l-ilma iventwalment. Joseph Muscat will do well to speak up now about what he thinks about Mr. Dalli.

    • Jozef says:

How can Joseph Muscat speak out? The dear leader compromised himself with Dalli’s Sargas. Saviour’s at it again in his editorial, such a miserable loser.

By the way, she who shall not be named has been joined by Peppi Azzopardi aka ‘dak ta’ fuq is-sufan’.

A true case of “iggranfat mas-siggu” if you ask me.

He could not believe he was being stripped of the power that had clearly gone to his head.

Instead of being grateful to the prime minister for proposing him as commissioner he became cocky and thought he got the job because he’s so “competent”.

I learned early in life that when one is in a hole it’s best to stop digging, and that it is the norm that when one is guilty everyone else is in the wrong except for the accused.

Same as many I am an ignorant bystander but at times it’s wise to heed the advice of the blissfully ignorant.

  11. Stanley J A Clews says:

Why blame the Prime Minister? After all he passed the test in front of the EU Members before being confirmed in the job.We all know why Gonzi nominated him.
