It’s scary to see how easily Labour worked this on the electorate. What does this say about people?

There are sheep in every corner of the world.
You can apply this on a worldwide scale and guess what? It still works. The crux of the question is: did Labour actively execute this on the people or did they just stumble across it by some farcical chance?
Sorry to change the subject, but can you please explain what’s going on here. The bare facts in this article seem to be hiding something significant i/c/w Dalli, but I’m afraid I can’t see it. Thanks.

In the contrary Tim nothing seems to being hidden as Rita Schembri herself asked to be investigated the writing is on the wall.
And, ironically, Ms Schembri was also part of Dalli’s secretariat in his Finance Ministry days. As Olaf member, she declared conflict of interest and withdrew from the Dalli discussion.
If you see how fast the gangnam style dance routine took off, you won’t be amazed by people’s tendencies to be seen as doing the “in” thing of the moment…and sadly, right now, in Malta the “in” thing is to be seen as favouring PL.
I’m sure that this will change within weeks/months of having PL in government.
Comparing Labour to Gangnam Style. X’jonqos?
X’jonqos? Comparing it to Gemgem Style, ala Privitera.
What does this say about the people? That they are the proverbial ‘naghag ta’ Bendu’. But you’re right. It IS scary.
And that’s why the rest of us, who have not yet been taken over by the insanity, should not get sucked into the defeatist attitude that the anti-Labour brigade are projecting at present.

Was that little Joey without any flab? Who the hell would follow that?
This is like “A ‘frijk’ lives here. Let’s join him and form a movement of ‘frijks’.”
People living in a consumer society may behave like this and could be prone to dare and risk their erstwhile peaceful being.
I claim that a calm psyche, a sense of well being and lucrative living once achieved are gratifying. A society that succeeds in reaching a level of economic freedom and individualistic expression may feel strong enough and tempted to go beyond and speculate, gamble or shoot in the dark.
We should not allow over confidence, complacency or boredom to trigger a self distructive ethos.
“Leadership is over glorified” said the speaker; how true for people like Privitera and company.
Priceless quote “it transformed a lone nut into a leader”.
Just like a typical MLP meeting, they all cheer and scream without knowing what the hell’s happening or better still what’s been said. L-aqwa kemm kelna nies.
So the first follower became the leader and the previous leader is not part of the movement anymore.
The BBC’s new Hitler documentary,’The Dark Charisma of Adolf Hitler’, is a must-watch.
It describes how from a failed painter, through telling people what they wanted to hear, a crashed economy and putting the blame of failures onto others, he managed to climb to power very fast indeed.
I’d love to post the link but unfortunately for you guys in Malta, iPlayer won’t connect so try and find an alternative source.
Its amazing no? We’ve had a Nationalist-led government for 25 years, practically uninterruptedly, and yet, with all its wisdom and intelligence, hasn’t managed in this stretch of time to eradicate ignorance.
Which says something as to whether its wisdom and intelligence are real concepts or just a perception.
[Daphne – It’s generally down to a mixture of parental influence and genetics, Mandango. Face it: I grew up (from 6 to 23) under Mintoff’s and KMB’s governments. So shouldn’t I be scraping my knuckles along the ground? “Its amazing no?” Only dagoes and wops speak like that, because it’s a literal translation from their languages (and ours). The interrogative form in English is “isn’t it”, not “no?”]
It would thus seem you’re in sync with Charles Mangion. Ultimately, its down to the DNA. Innit? (Issa tghidlix li anka din hija a literal translation ta’ “mhux hekk”)!
