We can no longer criticise Labour for not having a plan, or harry Karmenu Vella (seen here with Prime Minister KMB in the Golden Years of Labour) to hurry up and write it.
Labour now has this government’s budget plan to be getting on with. Good thing for Il-Guy and that stuffed suit from Burmarrad topped with a Hallowe’en pumpkin that the Nationalists don’t keep their good ideas to themselves so that nobody can copy them.
TAL-BIKI.

Yes, PL now has a plan, but it is not workable.
The PN budget plan works only if implemented now.
If PL now in opposition shoot down the PN budget, PL in government cannot then put the plan into effect before voting it back in.
That would not be before next April by which time four months of the financial year will have gone by, so rendering the budget projections and objectives irrelevant to the realities in force at that time.
PL always delivers, but invariably the wrong thing.
Meanwhile this is how the other nutter is getting his thrills:
“some students asked me for photos in valletta
after all they were saying the truth : top student!
times did not find space to report threats on me but.”
Franco Debono has been saying that he would be voting against the budget since July or August. Labour were fully aware of this, and they have regularly criticised the government about this threat.
Therefore, Labour had 6 or 7 months to prepare an alternative budget of their own, based on their main promise of “inrahhsu il-kontijiet.”
Which is why I would have expected them to now come up with an end-of-year surprise and reveal their alternative budget.
The timing for such revelation should have been either immediately after Tonio Fenech read his budget in Parliament, or the latest, soon after Franco Debono votes “No” in Parliament and then turns to the Finance Minister and utters “Hekk, hu go fik.”
But it seems that Labour have preferred to copy their homework from the bright student in the class.
ciccio: Hawn xi oppozizzjoni li tipprepara budget meta tkun fl-oppozizzjoni ? Missek tiehu parti f’BLA KONDIXIN !
Eddy, fl-irkejjen kollha tad-dinja civilizzata, l-Oppozizzjoni tesprimi l-opinjoni taghha dwar programm tal-gvern u tghid x’inhi l-alternattiva taghha.

Your usual spiteful self Mr Privitera?
Is that a threat, you horrible senile twerp? Daphne will always be respected by people that matter, whereas you …
I never threaten anybody. You know who has been threatened ? Franco Debono. And Dr. Gonzi has not uttered one word of condemnation up to now. Nor anyone else from GonziPN !
Privitera, it-tigrija sal-barkun. Imbghad naraw min ha jibki.
What do we call a scarecrow in Maltese?
Naffar, I think.
Naffar, Or KMB.
I call it EDDY PRIVITERA
Gozitano: Jaqaw inbezzghek lilek ? Tfakkarni fil Kunserva !

That was my first thought after hearing the budget.
That’s what the PL movement and its top followers were waiting for, something concrete on which to base their electoral programme.
It might prove the fact that no one within the party, movement or whatever they want to call it, has the slightest idea of what they should do, IF they regain power.
And all of this, with three prospective kendidejts for the Finance Minister’s position.
This situation is quite serious given the fact that the PL will most probably be governing the country within a couple of months.
I’m expecting Joseph Muscat to present his ideas for the budget given that he should have been prepared to govern within a moment’s notice since last year, but I know that it’s wishful thinking.
What’s troubling is that, while in the past we always got the “We can’t tell you our secret plans or they’ll be copied” excuse, now we’re getting “Our plans are exactly like the government’s so you don’t need to worry” story.
Well, I do worry because if you are not able to present any better ideas than this government after 5 years preparing yourself for this moment, how can you govern a country within the current economic and political realities?
Michael:You will be able to see Dr. Muscat’s and the PL’s ideas and programm for the future in the electoral manifesto, as soon as GonziPN publishes its own. If you are worrying, your worry is being caused by the realization that your buddies may soon get the Order Of The Boot !
True, Eddy, let’s start:
Dismantle BWSC and bring in SARGAS.
Wait 5 years then think if reducing tariffs is even possible.
Pay subsidies which will increase the deficit.
Get sanctioned by the EU for exceeding deficit limits.
Increase the National debt with no hope of reducing it any time soon.
Remove stipends and cut incentives for secondary school leavers.
Introduce the ‘Guarantee for a job for 16 year old school leavers. Pay them a special ‘lower than minimum wage’.
Cut Health services and introduce new fees – no longer free.
Cut Education services – cancel ‘one new school per year’, stop the MCAST campus half way.
Freeze wages, pensions and capital projects.
Reintroduce ‘bulk buying’ and regain total control on trade.
Nationalize HSBC.
Scare foreign investments, jobs, plant expansions.
Implement ‘controversial’ projects to reward Party faithful.
Re-appoint failed former ministers who served during the ‘golden years’…..
Need one add more?
We will be entering another ‘golden era Mk II’ should Joseph & Co climb the stairs of Castille.
I realised long ago that the only reason for electoral manifestos is to get as many votes as possible and you’ll pardon me for not putting my trust on what manifestos say, independently of where they come from.
Having said that, I would expect the PL to have its manifesto ready to go to print, after all the meeetings with authorities, NGOs, social clubs and other bodies that Muscat had in past five years.
So excuse me if I would like to get a sneak peak, like most worrying Maltese would, of what the PL is planning.
And what better timing to show us, at least, what’s at the bottom of your ‘delivery’ list.
Michael REfalo: The Budget would have been several months being prepared. And yet changes gto it can be done – and this has happened more than once – at the very last second before printing starts ! So should electoral programms. I thought you knew this having been in politics for so long !
Is Joseph Muscat eligible if it were proven that he’s been lying? All I see is an evolution in excuses and posturing.
Honestly.
Jozef: Have you ever given a thought to the number of LIES said by Lawrence Gonzi ? Dr. Gonzi has been caught lying. Dr. Muscat has not !
Angus Black: You can keep on inventing scaremongering stories to your heart’s content ! they will just confirm that this is the only weapon you intend using. Because you are the ones who are scared of the people’s vote !
Eddy, this is clearly not Michael Refalo the retired PN politician.
If I remember well even before the 2008 general election Mr. Pepsodent used to say that Labour was ready to govern. Silvio Parnis used to say they had everything in place and the people ready to take over the running of the country.
Yet when the election date was announced the Labour Party was caught bare not knowing what to do, where to start or finish.
Mr. Pepsodent didn’t even know the number of new voters. It seems that we are having a repetition of that tragic comedy.
Should you wish I can send you in a photo of poster that the LLB graduates used for their buscade.
Ladies and gentlemen, please relaks. Next week, during his reply to the budget speech, Joseph Muscat will come up with another 51 proposals (read: a wish list of 51 items) for a “gvern gdid immexxi minni.”
Yes, whatever happened to those?
Today, December 1: I wonder whether Privitera, who pokes his nose everywhere, has read page 19 of The Times of Malta? If he has not, well: Senior citizens over 78 (I think Privitera is in this category) who live with their family will receive an annual allowance of 300 euro.
Pensioners will also see their pension increase by 4.80 euro per week.
I suppose this is what Joseph was referring to when he said he will keep the good points of the budget. Any comments, Sur Privitera?
SOS: Whatever Gonzi promises in the Budget is no guarantee that it would be delivered, as Dr. Muscat will prove on December 5 ! Besides I haven’t reached the age you mention. still that measure will be definitely implemented by Dr. Muscat. Dr. Muscat DELIVERS while Gonzi just PROMISES !
Delivers what exactly? What has Muscat delivered over the last 3 years?
Delivers on what? He has even back tracked on those water and electricity rates. And what about the land reclamation promise? Has that gone up in smoke as well?
When Muscat declared that he will copy this government’s budget, I dare ask if this is a repeat of his past achievements, because old habits die hard.
They are what I term the cut, copy, paste idiots we have on this island. Devoid of vision and lacking in strategy and implementation.
PL is ready to implement the last act of arrogance of this government as promised by Muscat himself.
And this is the energy and fresh ideas they’ve got after so many years in opposition. Well done, Lejber.
Eddy Privitera, just because someone happens to share the same name as an ex-Minister doesn’t mean that he is so.
