They’re quoting Edward Mallia copiously on Super One right now. So why don’t they quote this?

On timesofmalta.com’s comments board, beneath the report on Jesmond Mugliett (he who took 18 months to fix a bridge amid accusations of scandal and corruption):

Edward Mallia
Today, 09:20

But the PL is starting to slip. ONE news at 7.30pm yesterday, Sunday 13th. Jan. had a clip from Dissett. The editing made the speaker appear to say the opposite to what he finally said. I was sitting next to the speaker & checked the matter with him soon after the ONE news. I am in no doubt that the editing was malicious. This fact is independent of any technical point. Dr. Muscat please note.

Now to TVHemm on TVM, to listen to more FACTS from Tonio Fenech.

Mr Lipstick now on TVHEMM – Quoting Edward Mallia again, as if Mallia has now become an energy guru.

    • Antoine Vella says:

Edward Mallia is pouring scorn on everything and everybody these days and, while I respect his basic principles and his scientific knowledge, he’s starting to come across as a grumpy and rather cynical old man.

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

Edward Mallia IS an energy guru. He is also a cynical old man, which doesn’t go down well in this country of breezy optimism of zaghzagh ta’ success.

He has been on the receiving end of three decades of abuse from most quarters, so his grumpiness is well justified.

Remember that he was talking about carbon footprints and green energy back when Mintoff was still PM and Joseph Muscat was still in his nappies.

But Edward Mallia is above all brutally honest. He never got used to the Maltese ways of sucking up to your audience.

The least we could do is to stop using him as a pinup girl for political wrangling. Then we could give him a big shiny Gieh ir-Repubblika and yes, egad, make him president of the republic.

      • Jozef says:

It’s also very cynical to state that nothing has been done regarding green energy on this island. It’s offensive to Mallia himself.

If research into wind energy proves financially impossible, will Labour accuse government of pouring money into ‘useless research’?

Because that seems to be the case here. When did Labour ever participate in this discussion except to hammer it into it’s kontijiet catcall?

It’s their approach which is wrong. Refusing the paradigm shift that comes with green energy. Something he personifies.

Edward Mallia must be referring to the clip where the Professor of Chemistry was questioning whether there would be a storage at Delimara for gas delivered through a pipeline. Super One showed this clip and claimed that storage tanks would still be needed with a pipeline project.

The answer, provided by the representative of the Ministry for Rural Affairs, and confirmed by Edward Mallia, was that there would be no storage of gas at Delimara once the pipeline is in place.

This would be so because the gas through the pipeline is delivered in gaseous form, and cannot be stored unless it is liquified at a cost.
On the other hand, gas delivered aboard ships is in liquid form, and can be stored.

    Super One is not credible.

    • old-timer says:

It is not a question of credibility – ONE just reads (parrot like) the papers shoved under their noses. One News is not to blame. The coconuts that write their stuff are.

  4. David S says:

They have wheeled out on Super One, and are now quoting, Perit Ellul Vincenti, ex chairman of Enemalta now.

His son, John, wanted to build a solar energy park at White Rocks. This was immediately dismissed by the Mepa.

Maybe with Labour’s new ideas on bypassing and ignoring “bureaucracy”, they hope for ‘change’.

This is really becoming a circus.
