  1. Mandy says:

Was his father a police inspector too, in the md-1980s? I believe he was notorious at the same time – and in the same manner – as Anglu Farrugia was,

    • Joanna V says:

He was a police inspector yes but definitely not notorious! Nothing like Anglu Farrugia and he was one of those who suffered under Labour government.

    • marisa borg says:

With all due respect to Mandy, the late Harold Harrison was an officer and a gentleman.

He held the rank of sergeant during the Labour times. He was once reprimanded because the water container in front of the police station was dirty.

He was promoted to RSM in 1987 where he was photographed in Valletta during the Valletta riots. After the photo that was published in a newspaper a bomb was planted at his residence. He was promoted to inspector by the PN government.

      • observer says:

I happen to have known Harold Harrison very well. His were the manners of a true gentleman in all the situations he found himself and in all spheres of responsibility he was entrusted with.

Unless I am mistaken, he led the scant – and seemingly unwilling – Police force trying to prevent the rampage by Attila’s labour Huns at the Law Courts and the surroundings in June or July1987 soon after PN’s victory in the previous May. He ‘paid’ dearly for it – through the hand of a criminal or criminals still unknown and unpunished to-date.

I distinctly remember Dr Fenech Adami, addressing the nation on TV saying that Mr Alfred Calleja, the then Commissioner, had admitted to him that “my men let me down”

Frankly, I wonder how his son Neil – who has a very good
record as a Police Inspector in the drug squad like Michael Cassar, one of his predecessors who also had a bomb planted at his residence – does not, apparently cherish that particular incident which, I am sure, should have impressed him so much as a young man

      • attent01 says:

The late Harold Harrison was more than a gentleman and to compare him with other notorious Police officers of the 70’s & 80’s is an insult to him. He served the Police Force with dignity and I remember the day his house in Gzira was bombed because he did his duty of office.

    • attent01 says:

Inspector Harold Harrison was more than a gentleman and served the Police Force with dignity and nowhere in a notorious way.

And with his past (and present) history with women I wonder how long he would manage to hold on to his post without having to resign after being caught with his pants down.

  15. blue waters says:

i simply cannot believe it – still remembering what his father went through
