At the university campus debate: the man in a beige jacket is an Air Malta steward who is standing for local council elections in Mellieha, on the Labour Party ticket.

Then we have the man in the black jacket, who turns out to be one Michael Scicluna, a Labour Party activist (see other pics) who left formal education at 15 or 16. His Facebook account says he is a rocket scientist who studied at Cambridge University in Cambridgeshire, but he’s probably a pre-Arriva bus driver.

He had clearly been given the role of agitator (there were several). No matter the subject under discussion, he repeatedly shouted out ‘Smart City’ or ‘Austin’ or ‘Arriva’.

When student officials asked him to simmer down, he threatened them.

Michael Scicluna adoringly meets his fearless leader.

No thanks. I'd much rather not. Think I'll pass on that.

I can understand people despising PN. But voting Labour? Vote AD, hand in a blank sheet, don’t vote at all. But if you’re in your twenties and literate, how on earth can you support the man who tried to fuck you up? It’s not masochism. It’s lying to oneself.

    • Paul Bonnici says:

I and most readers of this blog share your view Baxxter.

    • Stephanie says:

Baxxter – Not voting PN still gives PL the advantage.

People who despise PN should vote PN reasoning out that they are choosing the best out of the two evils (if they originally think that PN is an evil!)

A botanist student at university once told me that wood worms hide in their worm holes until the ‘Golden’ sun shines.

  4. P Shaw says:

The Air Malta steward’s name is Evan Cutajar, aged 44. He is from Haz-Zebbug, and not originally from Mellieha.

  5. manum says:

Vivid unforgettable memories of graduation 1977 when students were beaten just because they defended their rights as students. Did Joseph remind us of those?

Il-Labour ghal darba ohra rega nqabad jimmanipola bl-intelligenza tal-poplu.

Imma tant ghadhom lura li regghu ghal darba ohra inqabdu juru stampa ohra u jahbu l-verita.

    Kif tista tafdhom.

Niehu l-opportunita biex infahhar lil Dr Lawrence Gonzi li kien sod u preciz fid-diskors tieghu.

Ghal darba ohra il-Partit Laburista rega hareg tellief ghax is-sewwa rega rebah fuq il-qerq.

A comment on another topic. I find it strange that the information about the commission on oil broke out on MaltaToday and The Times has now taken over.

I would have thought that an ‘informer’ would deal with only one newspaper house and not several and in installments.

  9. Jess says:

His profile pictures show that he’s a rocket scientist but the rocket will be going backwards.

  10. ajs says:

MLP is stooping too low in orchestrating these details.

MLP do not believe in themselves and in their ability to win debates and elections on rational argument. Muscat is a whinging leftie, ego-centric, manipulative and has a very low regard for the general citizenry.

Reading through his ‘biography’ one gets a sense that he is plagued an inferiority complex which feeds into his ego-centricity, his need to feel dominant and dominate, and his attempts at manipulation.

On a more serious note, even if ghost written, Muscat’s bio clearly shows him to be a hardline neo-Marxist. It is entirely in keeping with the tone of his thesis.

    Sick!

  11. Malta Fan says:

Students in Spain protest because they have no jobs. In Italy graduates would love to work, even as waiters, but there are no job opportunities. In the UK students protest because of the increased university fees.

And in Malta, students who get a free education and a stipend, hiss and boo the Prime Minister because they have no place to park their cars.

Time to change this government me thinks.

  12. Joe says:

The man in the first picture sitting to the left of the guy bowing is David Bartolo of the Halfway Inn Restaurant in Mellieha.

He is 57 and never went to university.

The man sitting next to the Air Malta steward is Rodney Micallef, aged 33. He never went to university. http://www.facebook.com/#!/rodney.micallef.3?fref=ts

    • ta'sapienza says:

Yes, David Bartolo surely remembers how Lorry Sant issued the permits for the Halfway Inn which was unspoilt valley and heralded the complete destruction of the landscape. Where was Astrid then?

Mr Micallef never did a penny’s work in his entire life, living as a spoilt kid and now owning the huge block on the Rover’s Return site.
      Ghax Gonzi qeridna.

    • P Shaw says:

David Bartolo was the barman of the Mellieha MLP club during the late 70s and 80s. Probably this was the first time he ever entered the University premises in his life.

His son is an MLP candidate on the 12th district.

  13. Chicago Bulls says:

That Air Malta steward is called Ivan Cutajar. He doesn’t appear to be on Facebook, though.

  14. Paul Borg says:

Reminds me of the 70s and 80s. Beware of New Labour they are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

  15. Quiz Master says:

10 points to whoever guesses who the girl in white behind Michael Scicluna is in the second picture.

  16. norwegian wood says:

    Where was Evarist?

  17. TROY says:

Yes, the man in the picture is the Air Malta steward running for local council on the MLP ticket.

Second to his left is David ta’ OH YEAH water sport centre who recently bought two large cruise boats (ghax taf int, Gonzi qatilnha bil-guh).

To his right is Rodney ta’ Minka whose academic credentials are illegal hunting from his illegally built shed at L-Ahrax tal-Mellieha (ghax taf int, Malta taghna lkoll).

But the scary thing is that these same people will be the ones at our university (if Labour gets elected) to contol the crowd should students ever try to stage any sort of protest demo.

The same rent-a-crowd will be called to make sure all stays in place should anyone try to rock Joseph’s boat.

Students BEWARE, because the wolf has already shed part of his sheep’s clothing.

  18. NOEL PISANI says:

Mike Scicluna is employed with a private company at Albertown, Marsa. His family had emigrated to Australia in the early 70s during the Mintoff Golden Years, and only returned in 1989 when Malta was begining to flourish with the Nationalist goverment.

He is what I call a MISKIN who does not want to know anything about the joyful past of all the Labour goverments when his family were away in kangaroo-land leading a peaceful life while the rest of us suffered under Mintoff and KMB.

  19. TROY says:

Sending three bus loads of scum to our university to cheer up the fearless leader, why? What was fearless Joseph afraid of?

They have to manipulate to impress.

The same crowd is probably on its way to Burmurrad with hundreds of roses for their leader’s beloved Valentine.

  20. Riya says:

‘Second to his left is David ta’ OH YEAH water sport centre who recently bought two large cruise boats (ghax taf int, Gonzi qatilnha bil-guh).’

Yes this man is David Bartolo and he and his family used to run the Labour Party Club in Mellieha and through this club they became close friends of the most honest Minister Lorry Sant.

After a while they opend a restaurant with the name Half-Way-In.

This restaurant was issued with a building and issued with the required permiits during the years when the most honest Minister Lorry Sant was responsible for the Lands Department.

David Bartolo is always in this Bar and Restaurant during the evenings and in the mornings he runs another business touring tourists and locals with cruise boats to Gozo abd Comino and on occasions also night rides are organised. Ghax hawn l-aks.

People from Mellieha who have good knowledge of the area and know exactly what happened during those days of the Golden Years say that that the area where his restaurant is situated should have never been built within that area cause it ruined totally the most beatiful area of Mellieha.

But you know, this was Lorry Sant, and the owner of the Restaurant used to run the Labour Party Club and they were close friends.

Even the road leading to the Restaurant is dangearous and I wonder whether any safety impact assessment was ever carried out if at all these things existed during Lorry Sant time because projects at that time were done with no studies or assessments at all because that was the way projects were done during the Golden Yeras of Lorry Sant.

This David Bartolo is surely not a student as he is not even capable to spell in maltese let alone speak or write English.

But no wonder he still follows Labour and assist them all the way whenever they need a helping hand because with the help of Lorry Sant and his currupition he became a very rich man.

These were the type of people who went to the University and we all know that this was organised by Labour to make a show of force against the Prime Minister ‘ taf int hammalagni tal-prima klassi u nies psatas, ghax ghalhekk dejjem kienu tajbin tal-Labour.’

Dak li gara il-bierah huwa tal-mishijja u tal-Labour igieghluk tisthi tghid li int Malti. Imma Joseph Muscat dik il-bidla li ghamel li rega’ gabar il-hammalli kollha wara il-partit tal-Labour..

‘To his right is Rodney ta’ Minka whose academic credentials are illegal hunting from his illegally built shed at L-Ahrax tal-Mellieha (ghax taf int, Malta taghna lkoll).’

Rodney ta’ Minka also assists his friends with the Police when they are caught hunting illegally.

‘ ghax taf int jirrangaw ma’ Pulizija Laburisti bhal ma’ jaghmel il-Vici Kap tal-Labour Toni Abela.’

    WTF is The Times doing?

This info should be on TVM, aiming at a wider (ignorant) audience, not here. Please don’t take offence at my comment, Daphne. My point is the fools out there need to be informed and unfortunately most of these fools aren’t the audience to this blog.

I have the same problem too. My comments are hardly ever published, especially if I mention Dom Mintoff or his daughter.

  23. Stephanie says:

Joseph is like a ‘friend’ who is always around when times are good and the sun is shining however in difficult moments when the support of a true friend is needed, he either disappears or manipulates the situation in such a way to create a fake good atmosphere.

He performs best in staged environments.

He is not capable of facing an auditorium of students without bringing his own army. He is not capable of facing Dr. Calvagna, who criticised his cancer statements.

How is he going to be capable of handling any troubled times which may face our country?

How is this person going to face all the other leaders in European summits and make the correct choices for Malta?

The world is a stage but when the lights go out, someone who is capable of facing the music needs to be there!

  24. Carlos Bonavia says:

I can vouch for Mr. David Bartolo being quite illiterate and quite rabid in his Mintoffian creed. He is at his bar/restaurant spouting socialist propaganda most evenings.

I just cannot understand how the likes of such filth found itself in Sir Temi Zammit’s hall.
