If you want proof of how easy it is to forge a whole series of emails, here it is
I realise that most of you have forgotten, even if you ever knew, about the forged emails which Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando produced in the aftermath of the 2008 general election.
So I have found the links to the PDFs from my blog-post of May 2008 and you’ll find them below. See how easy it is to forge a whole series of authentic-looking emails?
They purport to be exchanges between 1. entertainment entrepreneur Kevin De Cesare and Labour Party secretary-general Jason Micallef, and 2. Kevin De Cesare and The Times journalist Mark Micallef, who is currently reporting on the George Farrugia/Austin Gatt case, coincidentally.
The only reason I knew instantly that they were forged, when Jeffrey showed them to me, is because I know how Kevin speaks (we grew up on the same Hotel Preluna block and have known each other all our lives). There was no way that terrible English was his.
Kevin at the time threatened to go to the police. Mark Micallef, when I rang him, was equally angry. I didn’t speak to Jason Micallef, of course, and I can’t remember whether he issued some kind of statement, or not.

Lou is excellent tonight and Austin was brilliant during the press conference. No wonder Labour hate their guts.
Michael Falzon gave up.
And without email headers, it’s clear it’s a fabrication,
Email is no evidence, it’s easily forged. You can send an email pretending to be Obama easily.
Thank you for posting this Daphne. It helps to put things in perspective.
Even the time in the e-mail was forged.. there’s no such thing as 15:35 PM. It is either displayed as 3:35 PM or 15:35.
Can I just point out something. It does not take a genius to come up with such emails. There is actually no need to edit such exchanges with photoshop. One may simply create a new email and use the names ‘George Farrugia’, ‘Kevin Decesare’ etc. as names and then just create this exchange between fake email accounts.
I am pointing this out because you cannot be certain that the names in the emails actually correspond to these individuals since we cannot see the email address to verify if it is actually them….and we all know how gullible and half witted some people in this country can be
Prime cousin.. I love that. I just hope he’s not too ‘surly’.
A strange silence from those paragons of virtue, JPO and Franco Debono
To forge an email it takes more than simple Photoshop.
So I hope no one is relying on a paper print of the email for evidence.
