Liars, the lot of you

PL guarantee certezza u stabbilita_Toni Abela

Labour Party deputy leader Toni Abela said (in that recorded conversation) that when his unnamed Labour Party club person found another unnamed person cutting up a large quantity of cocaine in the Labour club (obviously for sale), he threw all “the white powder” away.

You know, so as not to have to get the police involved.

Fabulous reasoning. And this from a lawyer and a leader of men, somebody who’s asking us to trust him to help run the country.

But apart from the truly f**ked up reasoning and screwed up morality, what I find really offensive is the way we are expected to believe that the cocaine was thrown away.

Yes, right. And for their next trick, they’re going to chuck a couple of diamond necklaces into the gutter.

Liars, the lot of them.

Il-vera hmieg.

    ‘pimps, thieves and scoundrels’

  2. Joe says:

He was concerned about not involving other persons because ‘they were terrified’ but did not concern himself about the distribution of drugs to the less vulnerable.

I imagine that this person who was cutting this white substance has set up shop elsewhere and is doing business as usual.

  3. R Camilleri says:

    Exactly my thoughts.

Toni Abela said that he did not go to the police as the committee members of the club were afraid of this dealer and he did not want to get ‘honest’ persons into trouble.

Then we have to believe that they had the courage to confront the dealer and make him throw away all that expensive cocaine. Yeah right.

  4. edgar says:

The president of the Labour Party club walks into the club’s kitchen and finds the barman cutting up a block of cocaine.

He tells him off and says this is very naughty of you, make sure that you throw it away in the dustbin and it will stop there.

The barman obeys, throws thousands of euros worth of cocaine into the bin, the club president tells Labour’s deputy leader about it, and that is the end of the story.

Everyone should believe this because it was said by no other than Toni Abela.

    • ken il malti says:

Yes, as said by sleaze master Toni Abela.

That much cocaine in a Labour Party club was there to fund the party so throwing it out is like throwing out thousands of Liri (LM) or Euros, it ain’t gonna’ happen.

And if it occurred during one of the Golden Years™ with police in Labour’s pockets, then they had nothing to fear.

      • Angus Black says:

Had this happened during the ‘Golden Years’ it would not have been a problem. It was not difficult to ‘find’ a Labour leaning policeman since most were (and maybe still are?). It would have been more difficult to find a Nazzjonalist in the police force.

What is inexplicable is that this happened relatively recently and even if John Rizzo is certainly not a friend of the NP, at least in most cases seems to have kept himself at arm’s length from politics, unless…

The least he can do is to explain how not reporting a law-breaker is not a criminal offence.

Why the journalists, independent or not, are not even asking the question is incomprehensible.

    • ninnu says:

I assume the police inerrogated the barman or the person cutting the white block.

  5. pazzo says:

That is exactly my reasoning. Who is going to throw away a block of white powder because he was seen by a club boss who wasn’t going to report him anyway. Go tell it to the marines.

  6. anthony says:

I have never believed one single word this guy has ever uttered.

I am trained to assess people just by looking at them.

I can clearly see the word liar writ across his forehead.

  8. David says:

I cant understand why the police commissioner said that Toni Abela did nothing wrong. How can a lawyer let go a person who had drugs in his possession. If the proof was destroyed you can always follow up on this guy and catch him next time.

Ghax dan ma nahsibx li kienet a one-time thing – dan mhux xi joint! Hmieg to say the least.

    • La Redoute says:

The police commissioner didn’t say that Toni Abela did nothing wrong.

Actually, we don’t know what the police commissioner said, because we heard that part of the story from Toni Abela himself.

Abela says the commissioner said that there is no case. He doesn’t quote the commissioner as saying that he (Abela) did nothing wrong.

If we believe Abela’s story, then we must believe that the evidence was destroyed.

    • Tabatha White says:

What about the other ace lawyer around Joseph that sniffs it? How does he defend that? What’s his reasoning? Personal usage?

  9. Joe says:

Lead by example – Toni Abela – New president of the Neighbourhood Watch.

  10. Claude Sciberras says:

You are so right – in fact when I heard the story it sounded a bit unrealistic.

Toni Abela says that when he went to speak to the Labourite policeman what he meant is that he just happened to find him there.

Manuel Mallia also made a point of translating “sibt pulizija” as “I found a policeman”.

However if you hear the recording well he says ‘sibt pulizija Laburist’ followed by “biex” which means that the reason why he specifically looked for a Labour policeman was to ensure action was not taken.

    • La Redoute says:

      Let’s not be coy.

Maltese speakers usually say “qed insib” rather than “qed infittex”, and “sibt” when they implicitly mean “fittixxt u sibt”.

  11. philip camilleri says:

The writing is on the wall ‘OLD LABOUR’ and shame on people like Kenneth Zammit Tabona and Astrid Vella who are supporting this scum.

  12. Jozef says:

    Joseph went one better yesterday.

He said given that physical evidence isn’t avaliable, so it’s correct to derive the story is now just an allegation.

  13. Seggy says:

How can anyone with a brain keep believing this whole josephmuscat.com charade? It’s unbelievable.

I can’t understand how people still think that the Malta Labour Party is really an option in the forthcoming elections.

  14. Natalie says:

I never understood the ‘throwing away the evidence in the dustbin’ bit.

Even if he did throw it away, wouldn’t the police still find evidence of cocaine in the dustbin?

As for the commenters on timesofmalta.com, I expect that if their son or daughter were to die from an overdose after buying their supply from this drug dealer, they wouldn’t mind so much, as long as Toni Abela is fine and Labour is in government.

[Daphne – You can’t die of a cocaine overdose, but then perhaps it was heroin.]

  15. Ivan says:

I wonder whether Manuel Mallia still thinks that his friend Toni did nothing wrong and whether he still thinks he is an excellent lawyer ‘doing his job’.

  16. carlos says:

What is more worrisome is the fact that the Commissioner Police failed to take any action whatsoever when he has Dr. Abela’s admission of covering up drug traffickers in a Labour Party club.

Besides, David Agius asked him to investigate two years ago and is still waiting for the results.

I think it is becoming a matter of whether the C/Police failed to do his duty. In that case one should call for his resignation.

  17. Village says:

Could the club be the St Julian’s one? Looks more like night club to me.

  18. old-timer says:

If Muscat in trying to cover up, said that there is no evidence, then why on earth was his deputy so worried about the affair and went to the police station to try and put a lid on the thing. Come off it, Muscat; smiles willnot cover up Labour lies and stratagems.

  19. old-timer says:

If you eliminate “heart-eating ambition” from Muscat’s mind, I think that he should also consider resigning after what he said regarding the Toni Abela affair

  20. Peter Grech says:

To further add insult to injury Joseph keeps him thus acknowledging and supporting this behaviour.

And if he tolerated this one then he must tolerate other future cases as they will say ‘in the case of Angelo he was not fired’.
