Snap, crackle and pop

Martin Scicluna, writing in The Malta Independent, points out that in the Labour Party’s electoral programme, “there is no mention of the need to control our lethal, life-threatening fireworks factories”.

Of course there is not.

Joseph Muscat’s lifestyle is funded by the sale of fireworks and fireworks chemicals, though his family business.

This reminds me that equally there is no mention whether their [in]famous energy plan and utility tariff reduction proposals will retain the current government assistance granted to 30 thousand plus households.

The assistance granted to most of these families is equal to more than 25% of their current bills.

Are these families being carried away with the innuendos and sound bites?

Or is the energy plan of the PL simply crafted for the benefit of Joseph’s new-found-business-friends/contributors.

    I wonder.

It looks like Muscat has changed his mind again, for a change:

And it would be Maltastar to spell ‘receive’ wrongly in their own URL.

or maybe he doesn’t want to be accused of favouritism, as he’d infamously said:

Where did the results of the investigation into the cause of all those incidents go?

    Shoddy chemicals they said.

I enjoyed reading Mr Scicluna’s piece. I think he hit the nail on the head when he mentioned two things which are at the heart of Labour’s proposal: the “second republic” and the vision of a free-for-all society.

With regards to the second republic, their proposal shows great intellectual poverty and lack of understanding of constitutional law and constitutional history. As for the free-for-all society, I think Labour have yet to understand what the role of government in a society should be.
