I was on stage behind Lawrence Gonzi in Gozo yesterday and I was amazed by the energy he had upon seeing the crowd.
Watching him closely I can say he spoke from the heart, with facts not bubbles of hot air.
Unfortunately, my 18th birthday is on the 9th March so I can’t vote, but I know who is best for the position of prime minister and surely it is not Joseph Muscat.
Those of you who DO have a vote, PLEASE make the right choice for those of us who don’t.

I am touched by this young girl’s comment.
I, for one, will vote for Dr. Gonzi and dedicate my vote to this young lady and to those young people who aspire for a true united Malta, a Malta that opens for them opportunities of work, study, experience and peace.
We adults have a lot to learn from the plights of our young people. We should not betray them and their future.
Very well said, Manuel. Those who have lived through the terrible 1970s and 1980s have a duty to ensure that the future of the younger generations is secure.
If only my generation had had the world of opportunities young people have today.
I couldn’t have said it better than you, Manuel. I too will vote for Dr. Gonzi and dedicate it to Agatha and all the young people of Malta and Gozo.
Turning 18 on the 9th of march means that you were born in 1995.
Therefore you have only “experienced” 2 years of a PL government (1996-1998) – and to that I say lucky you. You were only 3 years old. and after that you were fortunate enough to grow up under a PN government. Unfortunately I cannot say the same.
Most of my childhood was under MLP. Thanks to MLP the EU membership application was frozen and delayed and we also risked losing it completely. Joseph Muscat was one of the protagonists in this and he was completely against joining the EU.
Even though he then comfortably went on to enjoy the monetary advantages of being an MEP.
I, compared to you, had long turned 18 when we joined the EU and doors were opened to the youngsters of Malta. It was “too late” to start over and regain what one has lost during the best time of one’s life…one’s own youth.
Therefore, I fully understand your appeal and here I ask everyone who has a vote, who is undecided, who is decided on voting PL or who just is not bothered to vote – do not be selfish. Our youngsters deserve the good lifestyle many youngsters have enjoyed ever since the PN have been in government.
My vote is for these young people, that they may continue enjoying the good life brought about by the good and tough decisions taken by Eddie Fenech Adami, Lawrence Gonzi and everyone forming part of this formidable team. Let us not lose everything during this crucial moment of decision.
I’ll do it for you Agatha and all those who are under 18. You deserve it.
Actually, not “most of my childhood was under MLP”…but “ALL my childhood was under MLP”. UNFORTUNATELY.
My vote will definately be for PN, because the young ones like Agatha deserve to continue with their education and their future.
We have a major responsibility towards these young people.
I, just like Selit lived all my childhood under the MLP. It was indeed unfortunate, that is why I can never believe that they can change
@ I, just like Selit lived all my childhood under the MLP. It was indeed unfortunate…
I know what you mean but that can’t be main reason for not voting JosephMuscatdotcom/PL. All new voters, and many others more, have lived all their childhood and most of their life under a PN government.
If that were the main reason, then Kenneth ZT is correct to urge us to vote PL because the PN has been in power far too long.
Such reasoning is totally absurd because otherwise we would have to ban a party from contesting an election on the basis that it has been in power for x number of years.
The reason for voting PN is that, despite their defects, they are simply the better choice. PL is not credible, still.
I will vote for PN as I have also lived my childhood under MLP up to 1987, and obviously I don’t want what we have gone through will happen again.
I will vote for you Agatha and for every person who has no vote.
Don’t worry, my family and I will vote for the right people.
Count on me, Agatha.
Agatha, I will vote for Malta, for Maltese youth and education, for peace of mind and stability, for you Agatha and for Gonzi as Prime Minsiter of Malta.
My vote will definitely be for PN, and am proud to say that my No 1 will be for Lawrence Gonzi; coming from the second district he is one of our candidates.
The IQ of these people is unbelievably low. It is impressive how many sick below average followers you have, daphne.
You’re the leader of the sick minded brainwashed people.
I, like Selit and Fleur also lived until I was 42, under the MLP. It was terrible.
I will also dedicate my vote to this young lady, and my children.
I unfortunately lived my early life under the MLP in the 70s and 80s. They were horrible times. I witnessed it all, the 20 punt, the burning of the Times and the kazini in 76 and 81, the beatings, the jobs and tenders for the boys..
Then Malta was reborn in ’87. Someone called me today to tell me that some MLP competitor has told him that on Monday, he had better not open his business because it will be burnt down.
Rumours are circulating that if the MLP will get elected, there will be a short sharp intense orgy of violence against Nationalists and the police will turn a temporary blind eye, so that the MLP will now show who is running the show, and their supporters can let off steam. Someone else said that “we are in the EU now, they wouldn’t dare”.
They will dare.
Some names and addresses have already been circulated. It will be a Night of the Long Knives.
I am at peace with myself because I just read a little passage:
From Matthew 8:26
And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, so that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
And he said to them, Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
We do need to put our faith in the Almighty, because after all we are all small and helpless. A little prayer will do.
God Bless Us All.
Dr Gonzi is a diplomat par excellence. He was formidable throughout
Excellent comment. I also plead the same sentiment. Unable to vote due to my alien status, but having two Maltese grandchildren, I truly fear for their future under the reds.

First of all thanks for the lovely comments, but due to lack of time between lessons and auto text I made a huge mistake. The part where I said my birthday was on the 9th March had to be that it was after the 9th March – just to make that clear because unlike Joseph Muscat I always tell the truth and not only sometimes.
Thank you all and well done, and thank you Daphne for the opportunity to get the message of the under 18s along for a better future.
Reminds me of my appeals to my grandmother on the eve of the 2003 referendum and general election.
Which incidentally gives an indication of the sort of social background I was raised in.
For my sake, she said, she’d vote Yes and PN. Babushki are tough customers, but they will always do what’s best for their vniki.
I so agree with her and will be voting PN in order to ensure that people like Agatha do not risk ending up an Ghoxrin Punt like me and many of my generation.
Agatha, my dear we have five votes in the family, and will be voting PN. We will never trust Labour.
We especially cannot trust them when we see they have the same faces from the 1980s.
Those of you who are eligible to vote and do not want to vote should think about what would they do if someone tried to take their right to vote.
I like many of the thousands of Nationalist supporters who have endured the hardships, the violence, the killing of our supporters, the lack of work the dismissal of doctors, the lockout f teachers, the closing of the church schools, the political transfers, and many other terrible things that happened through those years which ruined the lives of so many people.
Now I turn many of these people who for some reason or another say they will not vote or vote Labour.
Be careful don’t give the same future you had during the 70s and 80s because the same people are still there at worst.
I myself and all my family will surely vote for gonzi so that people like you Agatha will have a secured education and best jobs. Keep it up, Agatha. You are our pride
