Joseph Muscat is offering us some fresh, progressive new faces to give us respite from the ones we see now in the Nationalist government. Hey Yana, love ya!

I’m watching Bondi+ and Labour’s new advertisement has just come on, featuring Joseph Muscat in the Oval Office.

What in heaven’s name is wrong with his neck? He’s either had a massive allergic reaction to shaving or he’s had a nasty outbreak of hives.

Along with the white line encircling his scalp, the foundation make-up, the lipstick and the skull dye, the whole package is looking increasingly freaky: Barbie’s Ken meets Frankenstein via a Stepford wife.

Anyway, given that he was wearing make-up anyway, couldn’t the make-up artist have taken it down to his neck to cover up that blistered pizza?

Enough about his patched-up looks. Let’s talk about his patched-up words. He opened by telling us that we have a choice between more of the same, with the same faces, and something new and forward-looking.

He cannot be serious. What he’s offering is an extensive army of faces that are older and staler than anyone in the Nationalist Party by a good 20 to 30 years.

What Joseph Muscat is offering us as an alternative to the ‘more of the same old faces’ we’re seeing in government now is…and this seems incredible to me as a survivor of those horrid years….Karmenu Il-Guy Vella, Edward Scicluna (Il-Guy’s consultant when he was Industry Minister in the Golden 1980s), Leo Brincat, Marie Louise Coleiro, Joe Debono Grech, Alex Sceberras Trigona, Yana Mintoff, Evarist Bartolo, Charlie Mangion…

I need a cup of strong tea.

Nbdilna he says. Bollocks. The only reason the whole brigade from the eighties isn’t all there is because some have died off, gone gaga or are too frail. Anyone still physically up to it is right behind him.

They never change. They are worse than in the 80s. I am a Gozitan and last Sunday when I arrived at Mgarr and up the road I got insulted and threatened. Where is Malta taghna lkoll?
