Joseph and the Forces of Evil: the distillation of all that’s wrong with Maltese society, and proud enough to boast about it
Joseph Muscat told us yesterday that we should elect him prime minister “to give a message to the PN”.
Never mind any claim that his policies are better than the Nationalist Party’s, that he is stronger on health, education, work and liberty (ha to that).
No – elect him and his Labour (finally, they are using the name) to say “serves you right” to the PN and Lawrence Gonzi.
That’s right: serves you right for turning Malta into a European country. Serves you right for making your last act the negotiation of a Eur 1.2 billion package which Joseph, Leo Brincat, Il-Guy, AST and Yana Mintoff will get to spend.
This means that even Muscat himself knows that on merit, it is the Nationalist Party and Lawrence Gonzi who deserve our vote and should be governing, not he and Il-Guy.
So he appeals to the spiteful and the ‘hurt’, the southern Mediterranean peasants (of all social stripes) in our midst, who think they have to touch and feel their politicians on a daily basis, and who use their vote as currency, like the residents of some village in Puglia in 1950.
Two Maltas, two Maltas, two Maltas – and let’s not forget it.
Labour has long been the party of The Other Malta. It has not created those primitive, unpleasant, irrational elements in Maltese society. No. Rather, it has been created by them.

Out of subject but just heard on SKY news that HSBC has done very well in the Americas but not in Europe. Malta of course, with so much poverty amongst us, being the exception Eur95million pre tax profit.
Orbs, pointy ears, reptilian eyes and a conehead.
The podium, the dogs, the V in Mercieca’s program….
Where’s kev?
Yesterday, on the ferry, there were several groups heading to their respective mass meetings. While disembarking from the ferry, on foot, I could hear the Labour supporters passing snide remarks and taunts as the pn supporters were heading briskly to catch the minibuses or buses.
The confrontational nature, I dare say deep-seated spite, and the aura of intimidation, by the Labour supporters was palpable.
Oh, and they constantly blasphemed; sort of interjections during their philosophical discourse.

Thank you, Daphne, you could not put it better.
Interesting Daphne, that you condense it to Joseph and il-Guy.
It would literally be like having Mintoff and il-Guy all over again, just that the puppet is younger and Lorry Sant is replaced by Jason, the hacking for the hitting. The Rhodes scholar levelling element hasn’t been neglected either…in Louis?
