  5. Jozef says:

Erm, weren’t these posts supposed to be filled in full consultation with the public?

  6. R Camilleri says:

I think, I had heard Karmenu Vella on Bondi+ state that chairpersons will be elected by the people using online methods.

I think they already forgot all their promises, not that I was very keen with this one in particular being implemented.

We will all be seeing the redefinition of the words according to the Mintoffian Dictionary.

Freedom of speech means that the PL can say whatever IT wants.

Malta Taghna ilkoll means Malta kollha tal-Laburisti.

Meritokrazija means Min mhux maghna kontra taghna.

So now to get a push in the queue, the ministers are having their offices at the major area of operation.

Dr. Farrugia at Mater Dei reception, Konrad Mizzi at Delimara Power Station – at this rate Joseph’s office will be at the gym.

  9. Mister says:

Wait… didn’t Joseph Muscat say that we have to vote on who takes up these positions?

    When was this election?

Where was the ballot box hidden? Was it held on the 4th floor at an undisclosed date and time?

  10. TROY says:

    Taghna ukoll!

  11. change says:

haha just check who the PA to the chairmain will be , kindly check his qualifications , woolaa meritocracy!

  12. Wilson says:

I cry. TM is one of those places which really requires an even more technical direction than anything else. I am crying. It has really gone to the dogs now.

  13. Macchiavelli says:

    Taghna biss

  14. P Shaw says:

WIll the job at AirMalta remain open and reserved for him during the next five years, as a precaution?

  15. Johannes says:

Pre election LP slogan: “I wish to live in a country where it’s not who you know, but what you know!” Obviously they weren’t referring to Malta. What a joke…and this barely a week in government

  16. Macchiavelli says:

OK so in the first week PL is already delivering on meritocracy in senior civil service positions:

Proof 1. Head of Civil Service and PPS Dr Godwin Grima replaced by Mario Cutajar – ex GWU

Proof 2. Permanent Representative Marlene Bonnici who quickly moved up the ranks of civil service under a PN government (which presumably did not believe in meritocracy), was quickly retained by Joseph Muscat (another proof of meritocracy under PL !! )

Proof 3. Chairman Transport Malta replaced by ex CEO of Labour Party James Piscopo

U tghidu Labour doesn’t deliver? Malta taghna lkoll.

    Next please?

    • R Camilleri says:

You forgot JPO as chairman of MCST.

    • Mark Mallia says:

For them, it was the PN only who delivered.

Sure..the PN definitely delivered – to the few ‘hbieb tal-hbieb’!!!

I actually pity all those who voted PN but did not get something from under the table….as that would have been the only reason to vote for them in this election. I pity them for not knowing exactly what went on and who got paid what in the last 5 years :)

[Daphne – What an unbelievably stupid comment. People like you make me despair.]

      • M. says:

Shame on you, Mark, for voting Labour, and for doing so – presumably – for what you “could get”. What a shit attitiude. Your reap what you sow, as they say. What are a few (thousand) extra Euros (and unfairly gained ones at that) when compared to the peace of mind we had under PN?

      • Noel Cini says:

        Daphne,

It’s people like you who should consider what stupid comments are written and not those who voted Labour. Enough was enough for everyone, and 35,107 votes + 1,500 (ex PN Majority) are not a casual swing, but for the size of Malta, it is a huge swing. Give time to the new government to deliver, he has 5 years to fulfil what your GonziPN did not in 9 years (I’m only counting Gonzi’s years – not to say 25 years of PN Administration).

[Daphne – ‘Enough was enough for everyone’. Because we were having such a rough ride, right? Even the BBC was somehow able to slip in a sarcastic remark about the economy having no relevance in the Maltese general election. That’s what happens when you raise generation after generation in magical thinking and squash all rational thought in favour of religious indoctrination and general mindlessness.]

      • La Redoute says:

Fundamental freedoms and basic economic security are all the grounding you need, Mark Mallia.

If you’re entrepreneurial, you won’t depend on government contracts.

If you’re not, you can still work in the private sector. But that’s only because the economic conditions for doing so are there. They weren’t created by magic.

No matter what Chris Cardona thinks, an economy has to be developed and managed.

I’m remembering that poster on meritocracy. Pure bull.

    • Macchiavelli says:

      But why?

She got the post of Board member if the Justice Reform Commission. Mhux ghax nemmen fil-meritokrazija?

Are we surprised? No all the hefty salaries that lejber was paying will now be burdened by the state, which means by you and me. Malta taghhom biss. Disgusting government stinking in filth and deceit

  22. George says:

I wonder what his salary is going to be?

  23. Gahan Ghaxaq says:

    Gass mal-pjanca, dritt go hajt

  24. 2 cents says:

He must have worked quite a lot for Joseph Muscat to get elected as Mexxej tal-PL during his working hours while he was still at AirMalta… meritocracy and duty to our national ailing airline at its best

  25. ciccio says:

An arriviste to lead TRANSPORT Malta? OK, maybe he hasn’t arrived yet.

  26. Tabby says:

Hadn’t Karmenu Vella explained that the PL would hold some sort of an on-line election for individuals to be ‘elected’ to these posts? Bdejna…….

  27. carlos says:

  28. Malta taghna biss says:

Mark Portelli, Chairman of the WHOLE of Transport Malta, including Maritime, cost the tax payer a grand total of Eur7,000 per annum. James Piscopo is costing us Eur80,000. In Dr Muscat’s words. “Value for money”. Oops.

  29. RP says:

Ask Ramona Frendo – ghax hi temmen fil-meritokrazija. Isn’t that what she said on her Labour billboard? I think she meant ‘ipokrizija’.

  30. J Abela says:

To add insult to injury, some false reporting from none other then The Times. They don’t even bother to investigate. What incompetent losers.

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20130322/local/piscope-is-tm-s-new-ceo.462483

Transport Malta will not have a CEO responsible for the running of the authority and a chairman to act as the political interlocutor anymore. It will just have an executive chairman.

Also, if you study closely the ministerial portfolios, TM will be under three different ministers not just one by the looks of it. Only God knows why.
