Joe Cordina, known as Ic-Caplu, a Gozo Labour candidate and financial administrator of the Labour Party – involved in the company which handled bribe money in the ‘oil scandal’ case

The Malta Independent reports that Joe Cordina, the Labour Party’s financial administrator who ‘resigned’ when his name came up as a director/shareholder of the company which handles oil scandal man George Farrugia’s money, is to be named chairman of the Gozo Channel Company.

Joe Cordina was due to stand for election this time on the Labour ticket, but pulled out of the race when he was named in this scandal.

Interesting, isn’t it? His involvement was deemed by the leader of the Opposition to warrant his removal from the Labour Party and the Labour ticket, but now that Joseph Muscat is prime minister he has made this man he removed from the party chairman of a public company.

So now a person named in a scandal, who is asked to resign from the Labour Party, is instead given a position of national and corporate importance.

So the switchers swallowed it all, hook, line, sinker, and even rod.

    They were badly deceived.

    • Min Jaf says:

They are not switchers. They were always Laburisti. They acted consciously in pursuit of reward. They were not deceived. They were the deceivers.

Maybe it’s time to boycott Gozo and leave the many hunters (kaccaturi) there in peace practicing their pastime. I am sure those from the new movement will compensate for our absence.

One after the other the PL government is putting all its ‘friends’ in various positions, ghax Malta taghna lkoll (what a joke).

PN traitors turned PL lickers, businessmen who say they have left their business but still hold ownership… I think Gonzi was true in saying we are going straight into a wall.

And then we get Kenneth Zammit Tabona in his column today saying that “it was Joseph Muscat’s vision of a Malta devoid of divisive politics that won him a 36000 vote majority”. Is he living in cuckooland? Or is he fishing for a suitable post rewarding turncoats?

[Daphne – Kenneth has made such a deep emotional investment in Joseph Muscat and his party that no matter what Muscat does over the next five years, and no matter how bad it gets, Kenneth is going to defend it. He’s like one of those middle-class English lefties trying to convince themselves and others in the 1950s that life in the USSR was paradise for the natives.]

  12. edgar says:

Dak il-pufta bic-coff was right when he said that Joseph Muscat’s vision of a Malta devoid of divisive politics won him a 36000 vote majority.

That was BEFORE the elections. Is Kenneth still of the same opinion now, barely 15 days after walking up the Castille’s steps.

  13. David says:

Mr Cordina did not break any law. The police did not issue any charges against him or against any one the other directors of the company mentioned. It is clear that this company was not involved in any illegal dealings.

[Daphne – Not all impropriety breaks the law, David. And not only law-breaking constitutes a resignation matter.]

Yet another quote from Karl Marx:

“In communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticize after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, shepherd or critic.”

Perhaps this is not the first placement that the party has accomplished for Joe Cordina in its regulations of ‘general production’?

    Malta Taghna Lkoll
    Malta Tal – Laburisti……biss

    They are actually LIE-BURISTI

    • Maria Xriha says:

Honesty and professionalism by the Labour Party did not exist pre-election.

Don’t forget Muscat’s lies such as the blokka silg incident, for the EU and then against it…

The fact, amongst others, that they got hold of the NP’s tablet proposal through a leak, didn’t know which Year it would apply to and were determined to make it seem as though the NP “copied” the proposal and therefore they went ahead and ‘launched’ it earlier in the day than the NP did – they knew what time this was going to be announced – doesn’t go down as professionalism in my book.

Just as more of the same sneaky, underhand behaviour that Labour have always given us.

  20. C.Portelli says:

Let’s take it from the other side. At least, Gozo Channel will have more profitability. Embroiled as he is in the oil scandal, I am confident he’ll be enjoying from preferential rates.
