And not a peep on timesofmalta.com.

    • Neil Dent says:

Nope – story broke on the TVM site yesterday, The Malta Independent picked it up immediately.

Pierre Portelli brought it up on TVAM, while interviewing the prime minister with Joe Mifsud and the prime minister encouraged him so clarify the story.

But The Times, as of now? Not a sausage. Very disappointing.

    • just me says:

Yes and not even about yesterday’s opening of the garden surrounding Mdina.

  2. Beppe Grillo says:

Billi jien supporter tal-Manchester United se nivvota Labour ghax Sir Alex Ferguson qalilna hekk

    • A says:

But United have not changed Sir Alex Ferguson for a long time.

He may have lost some games but overall he’s done really well. Why don’t you do the same and stick with the PN government we have already?

    • Paul Bonnici says:

U Alex Ferguson f’hix jifhem? I bet you the LP got him embroiled in their campaign.

    • M. Cassar says:

Does anyone have an e-mail address so that we can inform Sir Alex how ‘wonderful’ it was for us to live under a Labour government?

I am sure he would like to know what an ass he made of himself when he assumed that he knew what he was talking about.

I have sent a Facebook message to the club to see what they think about the issue seeing that he wrote in his capacity as manager. No reply yet though.

  3. MojoMalti says:

And The Times will replace Maltastar as the PL’s English newspaper. I can’t wait.

  4. Tracy says:

Meanwhile the times is reporting this:

    http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20130307/local/man-utd-supporters-club-distances-itself-from-ferguson-endorsement-of-the-pl.460490

    ….

People who have received an actual Manchester United letterhead and signature of Mr. Ferguson are saying the one that can be seen in the picture is very clearly a fake.

This is getting ridiculous, trying to get votes from United supporters now are we?

    • Lestrade says:

This item was picked up by The Times from PL election material distributed with the newspaper this morning.

Either Sir Alex was duped that Malta PL is UK Labour Party’s counterpart (not that there is much choice between them !) or Photoshop anyone.

  5. Melissa says:

No more red and blue politics huh? What bollocks!

It’s not like these days people are labelled by their political party, prevented job opportunities or promotions, have to hide the newspaper they buy or think twice about which colour rothmans they should smoke!

As for a single ‘moviment’… Where’s the democracy in that? Oh yes, what democracy? The LP has a track record of communist-style governing!

  6. Kevin V says:

Until a year or so ago I made the mistake of setting aside recent political history in the belief that we should look forward not backward if we want to build a better future for ourselves and our children.

To those who made the same mistake or who, for any reason, are unhappy with the current administration, here’s a reminder of what Labour was about:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fHt6Jpl2Xk

To those too young to remember, the people who were ministers in the 1980s era of violence, thuggery and absence of the basic civil and human rights may be ministers in a few days time. Remember the adage, old habits die hard. We have no guarantees that we will not see a return to those dark days.

Germans never saw Hitler coming. They probably never imagined such atrocities were possible. Most probably they said “No, it could never happen to us. Herr Hitler is beyond that. He is promising us change. He’s a good man”

And, yet, we all know how that ended.

Today, it is impossible to find a single German who is not completely aware of Hitler’s legacy. Most Germans I know are very apologetic when they do address that aspect of their history with people hailing from Allied countries.

If you want a change in governance, vote for a change in the Nationalist cabinet and among those Nationalists who may come to represent you in parliament. That is what I am doing – that is how I am expressing my dissatisfaction with the present way of doing things. That is how I am saying ‘no’ to what appears, at face value, to be the corrupt element of the PN. I am only voting for new people.

Saturday’s vote is about telling the PN “we want you in government but we want you to change your ways’. Ultimately, our vote is about maintaining the economic momentum and conducting ‘business as usual’ given the extensive turmoil in the world today. It is about continuing our fight to be free to live in continued peace and to mature both socially and economically.

Saturday’s vote is about retaining normality for our children and giving them a stable future. It is about making sure that they have full and productive lives, successful careers and more than we ever had growing up. And here, I do not mean simply material wealth but career choice, tranquility and freedom.

Saturday’s vote has nothing to do with idealistic mumbo-jumbo of ‘being a part of history.’ All notorious dictators resort to the call “Oh, let’s be a part of history.” In reality, they simply want to have pages written about themselves in history books. They care less about the people. To the extent that they usually become THE history over the dead bodies of those who cheered them.

The very foundations of Marxist and leftist ideologies, including those embraced by Muscat, are ‘revolution through conflict within society’. As a result, these ideologies are militant, fundamentalist, cultist and violent.

The signs already appear today. No, strike that. The signs were always there. I stopped looking at them because I set aside the past.

I do not want to labour Daphne’s point on the sect dimension of the “modern” MLP. Just consider what Muscat said, ‘love my wife’.

Like others on this blog, I am struck how this utterance echoes Christ’s reference to his mother as the Universal Mother of all Christians. This man is not the Christ or the Saviour. Michelle isn’t a virgin and she damn well isn’t someone to love without earning it. If I were practicing, I’d find the reference blasphemous and disrespectful. As an atheist, I find the reference delusional and scary. As a husband, I find it remaining.

Please think critically before casting your vote.

  8. Matthew says:

There is no need for threats. I expect Natalino Fenech, Antonattard to submit their reisgnations within 24 hours after LP is in government .This goes with out saying. PBS was a shame these last 5 years and went to the level of the 80’s.
Secondly obviously LOu bondi can pack his bag and leave and do his thing on NET TV. IS home is there .

  9. old-timer says:
