  1. Mary Anne says:

So much much better in fact. He generates trust and a sense of serenity that augur well for a future PN government. Come on, let’s go for it and show everyone that we know that the only secure future lies with a PN government come the 9th of March.

  2. Ivan Attard says:

Dr. Busuttil, that is precisely how I am voting.

I am voting for new PN candidates only. I am making FULL use of our electoral system. It allows to vote for a change within the party.

I also managed to convince a handful of ex-PN voters (who otherwise wouldn’t have used their vote at all) to do the same. I sincerely believe that PN, for its own good, needs a term in opposition. Unfortunately, that would be disastrous for Malta.

So the only solution would be to opt for new blood on election day.

    • Trojan says:

For goodness, I believe in all those who proved their salt and were honest and loyal; I will be voting for them wholeheartedly but otherwise I am four-square with all those promoting new blood of course.

    • John C says:

I would normally agree with you.

However, one word of caution. Franco Debono was new blood in 2008, and we all know how that ended.

I believe one should vote for those who have proved themselves to be competent, loyal, and of integrity. New if possible, but without necessarily excluding the old guard if they fit the above description.

    • stevn gerrard says:

Ivan, you are the man for me. I agree with you; I’m doing the same.

[Daphne – This is not a dating site.]

    • just me says:

Those who vote PN are actually doing themselves a favour.

If PN is elected, all Maltese will win. If PL gets elected we will all lose. With Joseph Muscat as prime minister, it will be from riches to rags for most of us.

  3. RosanneB says:

    Totally agree Mary Anne.

  4. old-timer says:

Those who are still “undecided” should, follow what is being said by the PN about the nothingness of Muscat’s party. If they remain undecided, well then they need some sort of treatment.

  5. just me says:

Both Simon Busuttil and Dr. Gonzi are greatly respected in Europe by other foreign leaders because of the fabulous results obtained by Malta in every sector.

They both deserve much more respect locally, especially our Prime Minister Dr. Gonzi.

    • TinaB says:

I totally agree with you, just me.

The problem is that those same people who preach about unity and how Malta should be ‘taghna lkoll’ have made sure to convince people that the PM is arrogant and some kind of dictator, not an honest statesman of great ability who has been leading the country in the right direction.

And the idiots, including those who are supposedly very well-educated and some of whom think also that they are extremely intelligent, swallow it – hook, line and sinker.

  6. TGTBT says:

I agree perfectly with the post of “just me”.

Besides the respect, they also have the experience, and not only in Europe. Lawerence Gonzi didn’t become a PM on his first try at becoming an MP.

First he used to run one of the largest business in Malta, then in politics he moved on to first being a shadow minister, then a minister and then after years of experience he became PM.

He has the necessary experience to govern and has proved it over the last 5 years, where many other PMs around Europe failed and he succeded.

In comparison Jospeh Muscat was a Super 1 journalist, then decided to run as an MEP after having told us that it is the worst decision to join Europe and now after spending 5 years as head of the opposition, he expects us to trust him with our country, where from the oppostion bench all he did was come up with bad ideas.

So the question is, if a ‘switcher’ genuinly read the proposal of the MLP and after comparing them tp the ones of the PN, and felt that the MLP has more to offer then thats absolutely fine.

The problem is that they have not compared what both parties are offering and are just doing it either for the sake of change or to payback the PN for some error that may have been committed against them ‘personally’.

But as the saying goes, they are “cutting their nose to spite their face”.

    Eight days to go.

There is still time for people who want to ‘switch’, to do it for the right reasons.

As the Spanish MP, who was in Malta this week said “now is not a time to be doing experiments, because if it fails, it will fail dramatically and for all. Just have a look at what is happenning in mainland Europe. Do you want to risk that, where in my country 1 in 4 don’t have work or do you want to stay with who has proven that when times got tough he weathered the storm perfectly?”.

    • A. Charles says:

We tend to forget that during his “Speakership” of the House of Representatives, Dr. Gonzi was instrumental with the setting up of KNPD. He was chairman of this commission andit was an education when he chaired the meetings.

  7. Neil Dent says:

Dr. Busuttil is contesting in my district (9). That’s three “1s” from our household.

Joseph – this chap is what “been there, done that” REALLY looks like.

  8. robert says:

GO FOR IT.VOTE FOR NEW CANDIDATES OF THE PN IF YOU FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE, BUT VOTE.

  9. bystander says:

Please can someone help me with the order of district 12 votes to get new blood?

  10. petra says:

    QISU QALLUT!!!! BUZZIEQA MIFQUGHA!!!!

[Daphne – Lovely. You Laburisti really have a way with words.]

    • just me says:

Petra, with your words you have only put yourself and the party you support in a bad light… not Simon Busuttil.

    • TinaB says:

Petra, dear, compared to Joseph Muscat, Simon Busuttil is an Adonis.

Learn to think first, before making stupid comments.

    • stevn gerrard says:

Thanks petra, I’ve just shown your message to a friend who’s made up his mind to vote for Simon. He now knows he’s taken the right decision.

    • Natalie Mallett says:

    • AE says:

He actually looks like a young George Clooney.

  11. bookworm says:

It’s a pity he’s not a candidate on my district.

  12. Ray says:

I so agree. I listened (radio) to TVAM this morning. He was fantastic – . charismatic, composed, very knowledgeable and well informed on all matters.

On the other hand, the Labour representative was stamering and not at all convincing.

  13. GABS says:

  14. H.P. Baxxter says:

We should have cloned Simon Busuttil so he can stand for election in all thirteen districts.

  15. AE says:

I wish I could vote for Simon too.

I never really understood why we should split the country into 13 districts.

It’s a national election and we should vote as one.

We should also have a smaller parliament, and thus a higher quota. Like this we can also pay our parliamentarians more without having to increase the global budget.

Splitting the country into 13 districts somewhat thwarts the picture and allows for the politics of patronage.

Local councils can take care of locality issues. Parliamentarians should be more focused on national issues.

  16. TGTBT says:

@By Stander – below find the link for all the 12th district PN candidates –

  17. Carlos Bonavia says:

I voted for JPO in 2008. What a relief this time around when I have Simon to give my Nr 1 to.
