Another husband-and-wife set-up in the prime minister’s secretariat

Published: April 23, 2013 at 7:45pm

Given that the prime minister has chosen to lead by example in giving his wife a job in his private secretariat (job description: reading fairy tales to children, but presumably not on a pro bono basis like her predecessor), he has ended up with the elements of a French farce in his office.

It turns out that the Kevin Abela on the staff list for the PM’s secretariat is married to Claudette Abela Baldaccino (the failed Labour MEP candidate facing European Commission fraud charges) who also works there.

If the government selects his people on the basis of their ability he will not find anyone to fill any vacant post. Super One employees taken, Renato and the likes already on pension, who else? He is turning to their husbands and wives.

Meritocracy my foot. Where is Franco when you need him.
