So Manuel Micallef, who contested the general election on the Labour Party ticket and failed to make it to parliament, has been given a consolation prize as Super One TV and radio’s head of news.

Because you know, as Tony Zarb’s former deputy secretary-general at the GWU and as a ‘consultant in industrial relations’ since the two fell out in a doughnuts at dawn shoot-out, Micallef is a seasoned old newsman and a real and proper journalist.

But then, no real and proper journalist would work for the Labour Party’s newsroom, would he.

Why doesn’t he run the GWU’s inews.com portal?

I suppose we shall in the near future learn that Micallef is now a “Doktor”

Do you class yourself as a “real and proper journalist” Daphne? Just wondering.

[Daphne – Ho hum, Frank. A real and proper journalist as distinct from what – a fake and pretend one whose newspaper column is a mirage written for a newspaper that doesn’t exist? Or maybe you’re one of those people who (despite spending years in Australia) can’t tell the difference between a reporter and a columnist, and doesn’t know that both are journalists.]
