Leo goes to Thatcher’s funeral – and the DOI press release in mainly concerned with dropping the names of who he rubbed shoulders with at a reception afterwards
And then they get upset when I say they’re a bunch of social-climbing arrivistes with a backwoods-bunny approach to doing things. I wonder what Martin Scicluna thinks about the composition and nature of this press release? Kenneth Zammit Tabona, on the other hand, would have filled it with the titled heads in the congregation.
All together now: “Xi dwejjaq ta’ nies.”

Could they make up their mind on whether it’s “Eks” or “Ex”? I suppose they lost their concentration towards the end of a nauseatingly awful press release. Bloody mediocre lot.
So is it seks that I’ve been having all these years?
Nahseb li qalu, min hu dan it-tapp.
They probably thought: is he here in grief, or is he here to celebrate?
Fortunately for those of the Maltese delegation who may have been detained at the reception, Primark in Oxford Street closes at 9pm.
“iltaqa” simply means they were at the same reception… Probably, they all just ignored him and were even unaware of his presence or who he was.
I’m waiting for the British government to issue a press release informing the world that the Prime Minister met Leo Brincat. And the Italian government, and the Kuwaiti government, and the EU Commission. And various European ministers who also met Leo Brincat.
So, how long was the reception? All these meetings . . .
Simple.
Leo said “Hello”.
All the others mentioned immediately said “Goodbye”.
Hence the long list of names in the media release.
Leo forgot to take a stool to stand on. The camera panned right over his head.
“….ċerimonja li ttellgħat fil-Katidral ta’ San Pawl, f’Londra.”
Cerminonja ma tittellghax imma issir jew issehh. Jittellgha xi dramm jew kummiedja. Iva lanqas bil-Malti ma jghiduha tajba.
Ghal tal-labour, kullimkien palk, jew ahjar, cirklu.
U ahna morna bil-ministru tal-ambjent!
We were represented by a relic from a government Thatcher herself confronted a number of times.
And I’m sure that on telling her his title, she would have squawked, “Minister of what?”
It’s a funny old world.
