Johann Buttigieg, who is being mentioned as a replacement for Ian Stafrace as CEO of the MEPA, is a partner in the Arches restaurant and a developer of several sites in Malta and Gozo.
That’s beside his full-time job at the MEPA.
What fun they’re going to have at MEPA board meetings, all keeping tabs on each other’s business.

I think you have the wrong Johann Buttigieg.
This is the right Johann by the looks of it:

[Daphne – No, it’s the right one. I forgot to mention he also has a full-time job at the MEPA. I’ll add it to my post.]
Let’s have a list of his applications.
I was once invited by a friend to one of Charles Polidano’s weekend gatherings at his ‘farmhouse’ on the Montekristo estate.
I remember this guy Johann Buttigieg sitting next to him throughout the evening.
Johann Buttigieg started at the MEPA as a technician, and went on to study at the university, thanks to the Gonzi government which created a specific degree for planners, something which was new to Malta.
He started married life not that long ago in a government flat.
He spent some years working as a MEPA enforcement officer, then as a case officer on development projects.
He acquired a villa in San Pawl tat-Targa, became a partner in the Hotel Maritime Antonine & Spa in Mellieha and in the Arches Restaurant, and bought various pieces of real estate for development.
A real Mediterranean success story.
All this on a MEPA salary? Oh golly gosh.
Ok, this requires serious investigation.
Iva, ghax Malta tal-hbieb biss.
Is he related to the owners (Buttigieg, nephews of Charles J Buttigieg)?
No, not related, but he is partner with Adrian Buttigieg (nephew of Charles Buttigieg il-Lallu) and an accountant from Mosta.
The three together are involved in a lot of real estate development in Mellieha, part-shareholders in the Bugibba acquarium, real estate in Gozo (Zebbug), and The Arches restaurant.
La Salita (Hotel Maritime Antonine & Spa ) applied to MEPA to increase the number of floors. The permit has not been issued yet.
Alla jbierek.
What a high-flier.
If he is appointed Mepa CEO then the sky will be the limit.
All indications are that we are heading East.
Cyprus way.
Alla jharisna.
All the indications are heading backwards to the old dark times of Lorry Sant
Il-Lay Lay jonqos maghhom.
No Johann Buttigieg is not a nephew to Charles J Buttigieg; but one of his business partners is.
Lo and behold – Adrian Buttigieg of Hotel Maritime Antonine & Spa is co-shareholder with Mr. Franco Mercieca (the parliamentary secretary and ophthalmologist) in the company developing the Zebbug Gozo site Menfi Limited (as per MFSA Registry of Companies website). How is that for a klikka tal-klikek.
Johann Buttigieg has got his iced bun. He is the new MEPA CEO. What a surprise. He was the PS point of reference and most trusted whilst Ian Stafrace was still the CEO and now Johann’s klikka are proving the real meaning of the electoral slogan ‘I’m In’.
