Jason Micallef to stay on as chairman of Super One while he is chairman of Valletta 2018

Jason Micallef has told his Newsbook interviewer that he will be staying on as chairman of the Labour Party’s broadcast media, One TV and One Radio, for the years to come.

Immediately after the general election, he had written on Facebook that he was moving on, and that it was time for new pastures. It was clear that he was gunning for the top job at PBS.

When he didn’t get it, he talked Jose Herrera, who didn’t need much persuasion to spite the prime minister, into making him chairman of Valletta 2018.

Again, there was some talk of his resigning from Super One. But now he’s dug his heels in.

So the chairman of Valletta 2018 is also the chairman of the Labour Party’s media, concurrently.

Absolutely beautiful. So very Labour.

And to make matters crazier still, Micallef is quoted by The Malta Independent as saying that he can’t speak about controversial matters because his position at V18 means he has to sever his ties with politics.

The V18 chairman simply said that from the moment he was appointed as head of the foundation he decided to refrain from pronouncing himself on matters of controversy. He added that his new role warrants severing his ties with politics.

So he has severed his ties with politics by remaining chairman and boss at the Labour Party’s broadcast media.

It’s time David Felice severed his ties with the boss and chairman of the Labour Party’s broadcast media.

  3. Peter Mallia says:

I do believe David Felice should not accept the offer to remain on board. When a chairman is unfairly ousted, he should not agree to be demoted as director, but bows out.

Having him on board is only one reason for Jason Micallef to ‘forward’ emails to him, asking him for help in drafting a decent reply.

Also, how can Jason Micallef lead the negotiations for an exclusivity agreement between v18 and PBS while being the chairman of a competing station?

My thoughts exactly when listening to the interview on your earlier post.

Is this person for real? Does he honestly believe that we are all fools and don’t realise that he is contradicting himself? Or is it that by Labour mentality that is not a contradiction?

    I’m lost.

Jason jidher u jdahhal il-paga u David Felice jahdem ghalih.

David Felice huwa bniedem ta’ kalibru kbir u ghandu jwarrab ghax mhux décor li jahdem taht jew ma’ bniedem ta’ mentalita’ medjokra bhal ta’ Jason Micallef. Lill-David Felice iridu jinqdew bih.

  6. Who exactly is running the show?

JM, Joseph Muscat, the elected prime minister, or JM, Jason Micallef, the failed Labour candidate, full-time head of the Labour broadcast media, and part-time (as far as activity is concerned) chairman of the V18?

  7. Candida says:

David Felice does not deserve to be with Jason doing all his work. He is the excellent person for the posiiton and unless he’s chairman he should not be demeaned to any lesser position and accept it.

Frankie Tabone is supposed to have been paid less as Law Commissioner and Chief of Constitutional Reform so that he could carry on practising law while doing the other two jobs part-time (because it doesn’t take much to reform the Constitution and Malta’s entire body of laws…).

Is Jason, similarly, being paid less than he would otherwise be, as chairman of V18, so that he can carry on working for the Labour Party’s media?
