  1. M. says:

    Jaqq, how cheap and tacky.

  2. My name is Charlie says:

What sort of man gets married in a white three-piece suit with brown shoes?

No, don’t answer that. They’ll only say that we’re insufferable snobs and that “36,000 people can’t be wrong”, even if they like men in white suits.

  3. Allo Allo says:

Jidher jifhem sew fil-GDP, balance of payments, monetary policy and macroeconomics in general. Nahseb hu u shabu setghu intuzaw biex igibu lil Air Malta fuq saqajha.

  4. anthony says:

    Santa Rita tal-impossibbli, harisna.

Missierna San Pawl, Appostlu Tal-Gnus, idhol ghalina.

  5. bob-a-job says:

I like the ninth photo from the top. It must have been taken in a bar at the base of the leaning Tower of Pisa.

  6. Josette says:

A gay friend of mine once told me that 10 – 20% of the population is gay (apparently it’s closer to 10% but anyway …). Used to think this was an exaggeration but after seeing the photos of men on his Facebook, I think he could be right (regarding the men at least).

    • Just Jack (JJ) says:

Actually the average gay population in the world is 10%. but in Malta the average is slightly higher, between 12% to 14%, statistically speaking.

There are various reasons, but I guess it’s the interbreeding factor and homogeneity (no pun intended), and as a social factor, 70% of this gay population is married with children (that is I mean they have a male-female relationship, marry according to social norms and have children).

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

Then there’s two thousand years of history. I mean Maltese gay men didn’t even have to go looking for sailors. They had the matelots coming here.

    • Luigi says:

Josette the 10% includes women as well.

  7. Meritokrasee says:

consistency :: what his wife’s shades of blonde hair dye are not

  8. Antoine Vella says:

Silvio Schembri is general manager of ‘Local Action Group Xlokk’, an official organisation set up by the previous government and funded by the EU.

Its role is to help farmers in the southern half of Malta but its most notable achievement to date has been a national conference on fireworks. Using EU agricultural funds, obviously.

I know for a fact that no call for applications were issued for the post of general manager. Silvio Schembri was handpicked by the mayors of the “south” who run the LAG Xlokk. Quite by chance, Silvio’s father is the mayor of Luqa, one of the localities making up the organisation.

And all this took place under a PN government.

  9. Pandora says:

Lots of man-hugging going on apart from the First Holy Communion photo. Good luck, Malta. You need it.

  10. David Thake says:

I have been waiting all my life for the right moment to repeat one of my Dad’s phrases that stuck in my head:

    “Ahjar Alla jaghtini sixpence…”

  11. Lestrade says:

My nanna would say “Quanta brutta gente”.

One of the best photos is that where our Silvo is flanked by Chris Cardona and Silvio (who?) Parnis.

  12. Edward says:

    Does he shave yet?

  13. ciccio says:

One of the pics says “Tixtiq tghini nhar is-Sibt waqt l-Elezzjoni Generali?”

    Nice spelling.

  14. ray meilak says:

My dad once told me, “Malti tixtri b’te, u Ghawdxi tixtrih b’tazz’ ilma”

  15. Dez says:

Please remove these pics. Too embarrassing for the whole of Malta.

  16. P Shaw says:

Where is Kenneth in these pictures? I tried to spot him but I couldn’t. Typically, he blends in well with this crowd.

Perhaps, he can post a few pictures on his Facebook page the next time he organizes a fenkata or a majjalata with his new companions.

  17. Maradona says:

Judging by one of those photographs, he had his first holy communion and got married on the same day. My God. A white suit. And brown shoes.

  18. Just Jack (JJ) says:

I like the guy in the red jacket, second photo. But I hate those brown shoes and the white wedding suit he is wearing. When was that taken?

[Daphne – Can’t have been long ago. The man is only 27. So definitely in the 21st century.]

    • Just Jack (JJ) says:

yes definitely … but the image has something not right in it. I am not sure if it is the red carpet or the smiles …

  19. Crockett says:

    His social networking is impressive.

  20. curious says:

I am sure all the persons in these beautiful pictures have, along with Willy, Snobbby, Nuxellina and Kenneth been invited to the High Society do.

  21. francesca says:

If I had friends and family who looked like that I’d keep them hidden.

  22. Ian says:

So Josef Bonnici, governor of the Central Bank, has to report to this guy?

[Daphne – Yes, when briefings by the House Committee are required.]

    • Ian says:

      Meh.

Can you imagine Sir Mervin King having to report to some MP like this guy, who uses the word ‘nice’ to describe something?

  23. ken il malti says:

I would not buy a single Sarajevo coffee bean from this con-man from the Balkans going under the name Silvio Schembri.

Notice that his face looks photoshopped in those tacky photos, or maybe he’s borrowed his wife’s foundation and powder.
