Neil Kerr’s Auntie Maria writes in
Beneath my post about the his ‘n’ his watches worn by the prime minister and Neil Kerr in this photograph, a discussion developed about why he calls himself Kerr when his real surname is Baldacchino or, at a push, Baldacchino Kerr.
I have no interest in the subject – it’s the matching watches that fascinate me – but now Neil’s aunt has posted a comment in defence of her precious nephew. I think there should be a law against aunts who do this to their middle-aged nephews, but if I delete it she’ll probably be all over the net accusing me of ‘censoring’ comments that don’t suit my purpose.
So I think I’ll highlight it instead.
Maria Kerr
You people have nothing to do ?
Are these comments sour grapes or what ?
What’s in a name after all??
Yes we are “the Kerrs” and we are proud of it.
We all opt to forget the other surname. Any problems??
This is not a problem for us but I think it is other’s.
My nephew Neil Kerr has always done a good job wether it was PN or PL . and that’s what counts.

Thanks Mrs/Ms Kerr, but we really couldn’t care less.
Yea, who kerrs and thank God he was named Neil not Nick
Good one. I’m splitting my sides.
Changing one’s surname is usually done to hide an identity or to make a clean cut from an ugly past or to join a 7th column.
The other reason is the pure snobbery of somebody who is ashamed of the nationality that his surname is linked to.
Ashamed of being Maltese?
Shame.
Oh, so it’s not just Neil who’s a pompous fart. It must be a genetic trait.
“The Balls” concur.
Are you any relation of John Major?
Ms. Kerr, so “what’s in a name?” . Obviously it made a difference for your family, otherwise you wouldn’t have opted to drop the “original” one.
I kept my common Grech and didn’t opt for the more ‘exotic’ (in Malta) Saunders as it really doesn’t make any difference to me.
And there is a difference between forgetting your original name and dropping it.
Who Kerrs. I certainly don’t.

Another “tifel biezel”, at least Aunty Maria said so, not his mummy.
The Kerrs opt to forget the OTHER surname, that’s the one on the ID card – Baldacchino.
Shades of Mrs Bucket “it’s Bouquet”
They all opt to forget their real surname Baldacchino, says she.
There must be something very, very wrong with it.
The connotations must be really scary.
I wouldn’t dream of giving up my real surname even if the other option were Mountbatten Windsor or Bourbon-Parma.
Pity she did not elucidate.
I changed my surname, too – to Maradona – because I am ashamed of the one I was born with: Kerr.
Another one who can’t spell whether. Is she related to Franco Debono by any chance?
New rule: you’re only allowed a British surname if you can actually write English in a way that doesn’t burn people’s eyes out.
“My nephew Neil Kerr has always done a good job wether it was PN or PL . and that’s what counts.”
Yes, because your nephew Neil Kerr, a diehard Laburist, was one of many who were promoted under the real Malta Taghna Lkoll PN government. That’s how your nephew Neil Kerr ended up in Brussels and the Auberge de Castille.
Can you imagine THIS government doing the same with a diehard PN supporter? No. Not at all.
What’s in a name? Quite a lot, apparently.
“Kerr: A grass meadow or field to fuck in.”

Sure, what’s in a name.
My dear Mrs Kerr,
You sound like an Irish Traveller issuing a challenge to a bare-knuckle fight.
“Yes we are “the Kerrs” and we are proud of it. You Doolans and Joyces are good for nothing layabouts. Any Kerr can beat you any time. We are proud of our blood, proud of our surname and we will do a good job on you, and that’s what counts.”
Maybe it reminds them of another Kerr:- Simon Allan Kerr – of the “hole-in-the-wall” gang fame.
That’s not like MCA ex chairman, as he had to resign because of a change in government.
How I wish my surname was Borg Camilleri or Jones Smith.
“We all opt to forget the other surname. Any problems??”
And I thought he was one of the many foreigners who gave glowing testimonials about JosephMuscat.com and is now employed as the new PM’s consultant to give him precious advice.
Absolutely artificial. Or is it superficial? Or both.
Everything about this so-called government is artificial.
So madam, you have made your own surname and forgotten the other one. But why the feck should I Kerr?
Not all the Kerrs are the same. There’s a one – slightly younger than Maria Kerr (if it is her of ganutell fame) – who works at a school in Swatar, and who couldn’t be lovelier or more polite, kind and helpful than she is.
Come to think of it, she bears a slight resemblance to Neil Kerr …
In my younger days I was particularly attracted to an actress called Deborah Kerr.
I remember her starring with Cary Grant in a ‘weepy’ film “An affair to remember”. It still manages to bring on a tear or two – especially when I play the title song on my piano.
I wonder whether our Mrs Kerr could care to hear about her, here.
She is Neil’s mother and a very lovely woman.
Then there’s Pamela Kerr. The classiest girl I ever knew this side of the Alps.
I wonder how she writes her name and suname when booking a Ryan Air ticket.
Dear Aunty Mary,
I know Neil through work and you are so wrong. He does a good job – yes, in showing off.
The position he now holds requires a person of high moral integrity, who does not lie, who takes decisions, keeps his word and does not discriminate.
Not to mention being strong and being strong means admitting you are wrong and taking advice cause no one knows everything. Time will tell us how many of these qualities Neil actually has.
And another Kerr in Brussels

any relation to Aunty Mary?
Shades of Pullicino Orlando Smith. Remember the Baldacchinos living in Norfolk Street, Sliema 30/40 years ago? Why should they be ashamed of their family name? Those are the ones.
Maria Kerr (tal-ganutell) is not “a Kerr”. Kerr is her married name. This aunty Maria could be another Maria Kerr.
You can tell a lot about the person his own family is sticking up for.
A pushy person coming from a pushy family who are nothing but a bunch of pushies.
Ms Kerr, whoever you are, whatever your surname is and wherever you come from, I don’t care.
Why didn’t you write in to tell us what kind of personal gain your nephew Neil must have within the PL?
Maria Kerr of Ganutell fame who writes regularly for Il-Mument is married to a Kerr and her maiden surname is Bonaci Bianco
A report was not required by the PN to explain why they lost so many votes.
This is one of the many obvious reasons why.
Taking care of diehard Labourites, thinking that they will gain some votes from the red end of the spectrum.
One thing is for sure…charity begins at home. And the PN should have taken care of their own people.
As one person said above, would you see this happen under Labour for a die-hard Nationalist? Cushy cushy job in Brussels, followed by Castille? I don’t think so.
