Maybe Muscat is getting a cut. Given that he’s leasing his own car to himself, nothing would surprise me.

  4. C.Portelli says:

I leave it up to your readers’ imagination on what would have happened if a PN MP would have been embroiled in a similar scandal.

    • Alexander Ball says:

Why can’t the same thing happen now?

      I don’t get it.

      • C.Portelli says:

If a PN minister did anything remotely similar, the Labour bandwagon would have cried all sorts of foul.

But since he’s one of them, all they said was that “common sense should prevail”.

Labour have no morals. The only thing they have is convenience. That is, they act according to what suits them best under the given circumstances.

Most probably Franco Mercieca raised his tariffs to make up for the losses from his private practice because Joseph Muscat appointed him Parliamentary Secretary. Thank you Joseph.

  6. ciccio says:

And evidently he is not the only one who can do the required service, because Ivan Vella was offered as an alternative.

Minister of Education announces that persons within the Education Department will be charged in court in the coming days.

Just wondering. Shouldn’t such an announcement be made by the Police? Could it be that a minister makes such an announcement to put pressure on the Police?

    • Alexander Ball says:

Maybe it’s for them to argue they were prejudiced against by the announcement coming from the minister, a bit like when Fenech Adami went on tv and said the judges had taken bribes.

[Daphne – He didn’t say they had taken bribes. He said they were under investigation for that.]

Bartolo ahjar jikkonferma li se jkompli ihallas l-istipendji jew jirrispondi lil mi ghandu evisenza li dawn gew imnaqqsa u ghadhom anwas gew imhallsa lill-istudenti,

Nispera li din l-istorja ma tkunx xi storja ohra bhal meta Anglu Farrugia allega li kienu inxtraw il-voti biex in-Nazzjonalisti rebhu l-elezzjoni. Imbaghad hareg ta’ hmar u Simon Busuttil bhala avukat serju qallu kemm il-darba pubblikament fuq Xarabank li kien hareg ta’ hmar.

That’s big money for him Daphne! He is there to milk the system dry. He should do it for free for those who are hard up.

  13. A. Charles says:

I thought that Mr Mercieca and Mr Vella are ophthalmic surgeons and not cosmetic or plastic surgeons.

[Daphne – Laser eye treatment is considered cosmetic, in the sense that it is not a medical necessity. You do it so that you don’t have to wear glasses or contact lenses.]
