Maltastar, the Labour Party/government’s official news site, reports some very hot and positive news today:
EC: No action taken against Malta in three months
The Commission has not taken action against Malta since March. This significant accomplishment reflects the commitment of the Government in ensuring the proper transposition and application of EU law.
I believe, dear friends, that we are well and truly in a ‘kill me now’ situation.

Maltastar is repeating what the Perm Rep posted on FB this morning. Such fun!
Given the speed at which the Commission works, if this can be called an accomplishment it is not due to the current Government but to the previous one.
True, but the wider implication is that this is an anti-EU government that’s treating membership like a supermarket trolley dash.
Viva il-Labour! Wara 100 gurnata il-pesta ghada ma tfatxatx.
Kemm ghandna ministru tas-sahha tajjeb.
Il-WHO ghallura ma haditx passi kontra Malta u tefghetna kwarantina.
This reads to me like a naughty boy saying ‘hey I got away with it’.

Marketing, marketing, marketing.
This reminds me of some of our larger organisations which will find any excuse to occupy column inches in our newspapers on a quasi-daily basis.
They will create an opportunity when none exists. Edward Zammit Lewis is particularly good at this. He attends ‘meetings’, makes them public by inviting the press, then says that his government encourages that sort of business initiative.
My favourite one was the signing of a printing and distribution contract for junk mail.
Now say after me – M A R K E T I N G.
They speak as if under the previous administration we were getting an action against Malta every other day.
Anyway, so the new Government hasn’t managed to screw everything up totally enough in 3/4 months? Wow, that really is a significant accomplishment! Will they set a new record and make it to 5 months, I wonder?
In other words, we should be expecting action being taken by the Commission in the near future.
Mlatasatr, the fortune telling news website.
“No EC action taken against Malta in three months” – wow.
This is akin to claiming praise on statements like:
“I’ve never been to prison” and “I take care of my kids” – low-life expectations really.
Guys, I have even better news.
GIANT ASTEROID DOESN’T HIT EARTH IN 66 MILLION YEARS.
seems that even about this issue they’re mistakenly (sic!) hiding the truth.

Is such a puerile item (not worthy of a “news” item) aimed to impress those who switched their allegiance at the last general election, or the die-hard old supporters who are impressed with anything presented to them.
Pathetic is the only apt adjective.

On de ball hafna
Wow gosh, 100 days and Malta has not had its ears pulled by the EU. Now isn’t that an achievement for our Labour government.
Who the hell is that, still advertising their fares in dual currency, precisely 5yrs and 177 days since we actually made the switch to the Euro?
I believe it is now illegal to do so.
Tghid kos hux, dawn tal-Maltastar qed jghidu hekk u qed jifirhu ghax l-EU ma qalet xejn dwar id-decizjoni li ttiehdet mill- Kummissarju tal-pulizija ‘gdid’ fil-konfront ta’ John Dalli?
Whilst still at St Aloysius, way back in the seventies I went a whole term without being asked to visit the Master of Discipline’s office. Quite a feat at the time. I know how our dear Joseph must feel.
100 days and counting.
I have some great news too. No jelly fish has been spotted at the Ta’ Qali indoor pool. Mitt jum li urew li ir-rowdmep qatt m’eziztiet u li tal-Labour esperti fil=marketing.
