Labour failed to receive the memo that government and Opposition are different

Published: June 18, 2013 at 7:09pm

Joseph Muscat is still doing in government what he did in Opposition.

There is a great wash of Facebook adverts telling us what a great government this has been in its first 100 days. Are they Labour Party adverts? Are they government of Malta adverts?

Who is paying for them and how much do they cost?

Is everyone still looking for Tonio Fenech’s clock?

    Correction:

“Is everyone still looking for Tonio Fenech’s BATTERY OPERATED clock?”

Daphne remember that any criticism leveled at the Prime Minister or any Cabinet Minister will be considered as incitement.

Chris Cardona just told us that ‘Jien qatt ma weghed xejn lil-hadd’ … emm maybe not himself personally. See index of iced buns for reference.

Hope Simon is able to digest all this plethora of (un)expected behaviour from his opponents. A proper press conference to counterbalance this charade would simply kill it and show once again what real statesmanship is all about – mhux pozi u makeup imma sustanza.

Knowing Malta, a press conference to counter Muscat’s would be another disaster. Simon Busuttil sitting between the po-faced deputies, plus the totally unnecessary chairman, who opens proceedings.

Press conferences of this sort should be a one-man act – just the party leader.

This government’s logic defies all expectations. This evening in parliament Joseph Muscat told us that:

“Due diligence was made when somebody needed to be paid for a service, but in this case, the government would not be charged.”(The Times)

So we have to accept whatever the Chinese are ready to dish out for free, although the ‘free’ thing is only on paper.

“Dr Muscat denied violation of EU rules. He said an eventual fixed link may not necessarily depend on EU funding and a toll system could possibly be introduced.”(The Times)

I may be wrong but I think that EU rules must be followed irrespective of funding.

Is there a Latin motto that loosely translates as ‘grab the stash and run like fun’?

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

        Vae victis.

      • observer says:

The Romans used to say:- “Timeo danaos, et dona ferentes” meaning:- I am wary of the Greeks, even when they come carrying gifts”. Whether, to-day, we could adopt this maxim in respect of CCCC is everyone’s guess.

China had not been ‘discovered’ at the time – I think India was the furthest east that the Romans knew about then. They brought captures animals from India – at a vast cost – for their ‘circuses’ and their ‘games’.

Incidentally, no Roman legions were in the habit of ‘running like fun’ after grabbing the stash. And lots of grabbing they surely did.

      • H.P. Baxxter says:

The Romans knew about an empire far to the east, but there seems not to have been any direct contact. The Parthians made sure of that.

Now this is interesting, Bondi has Joseph Muscat as sole guest on Bondi+ tonight. JM naturally evasive. Highlight word of the show – ‘underestimating’.

Wasn’t an indirzz lin-nazzjon and a press conference from Castille enough? Did Lou need to bring him on his programme? can’t stand either of them for more than 5 minutes.
