“They’re Libyan, therefore they must be stupid”

Who can forget John Dalli’s racist remarks at the start of the Libyan conflict two years ago, when he referred to Libyans as ‘these people’ and then went on to say some pretty derogatory things about the place where he made so much of his money?
Now Joseph Muscat is under the influence. When he popped over to Libya with his dusted-off begging-bowl, he referred to his predecessor’s government as a “regime”, putting himself at par, he thought, with his interlocutor, who had just spent more than 40 years under Gaddafi’s jackboot.
Being Libyan, Muscat must think, they are obviously stupid and different. And they have the memories of goldfish.

Did he really say ‘regime’ – is there a recording? This is insane. The people of Malta betray Gonzi, now our Prime Minister is betraying history.

3rd paragraph from the end
Last paragraph, actually. The instance you described is either Joey Muscat or Kurt Sansone misusing the word.
I read the article. He’s using the word ‘regime’ to describe the previous Libyan government not our previous government, as far as I’m understanding.
This must be another word in the redefinition and rewriting of history glossary. It’s being repeated by other PL sources.
Come to think of it, I remember reading that old Orizzont article that you dug out, you know where he said ‘Malta no hobza u sardina, but laham, whiskey u nisa’, and Muscat said something along the lines of ‘I taught them a few things’
Here you go:

Thank you, though it appears I was wrong. It wasn’t the Libyans that young Joseph set straight but the Tunisians.
A regime? The PN? Is he serious? Is this not working against the interest of the country?
He is basically trying to make them believe that the PN are something to be afraid of even though they are well aware that the PN worked to take Malta AWAY from Gaddafi like government of the PL, who were best buddies with him.
I think they were referring to Gaddafi, though The Times’s write-up is a little muddled. It was the Libyan PM who mentioned “the prevous regime”.
He did pretty well for himself under that regime.
Get used to it, people. We have another Mintoff , but this time with a smile. He will do anything to get his way. He will misrepresent facts, he will twist the truth, all in the name of Muscat l-ewwel u qabel kollox.
Historically the PL have treated our Libyan neighbours as inferior beings.
Poplu salvagg. This was made very obvious to all during the uprising in that country two years ago when the PL were all out in support of the murderous dictator till the very bitter end.
Little did they realize that Gaddafi got more out of Mintoff than the other way round. Like Churchill and alcohol.
Now they are trying the same techniques.
If the PL dreams that they can con their erstwhile idol’s sworn enemies, the present Libyan leadership, they must be cuckoos.
