True, but then Labour gets away with murder

PM's car

The PN leader has said in parliament that the PM’s use of his family car as his official car, for which he takes an allowance, is “unbecoming”.

Yes, but he’s set the standard and all around him are letting rip. It’s wall-to-wall unbecoming behaviour. I mean, what was that with Manuel Mallia and the criminals at the prisons?

The criminals at the prisons yesterday had a rock concert, complete with Mary Spiteri and, yes, a red carpet leading right into the prison door. I am not joking. Try to find the repeat of yesterday’s TVM news online

Yet another PL contract it would seem, only unlike tal-Monti and il-kaccaturi pre-election commitments, this one presumably unwritten and unsigned, simply based on a code of honour among thieves.

  3. Giving amnesties to prisoners had led to the very early release from proson in 1993 of the terrorist Ali Rezaq, causing a rift in Malta’s relations with the USA.

The practice of giving general amnestiesto prisoners on the slightest pretexts is highly questionable, especially when the beneficiaries could include earlier clients of ministers directly involved in granting these amnesties.

Anyone who is tempted to ask “where were you when….” is referred to page 293 of my memoires. I was prominent in pointing out to the politicians directly involved what I am repeating here, and I am glad that government policy changed radically after that.

Are we going back to square one?

I think yesterday there was a cabinet meeting around noon since all the ministerial cars were haphazardly parked in front of Castille with the dark suited drivers huddled for shade under the trees like a murder of crows. One of the ministerial cars (GM25 if I recall correctly) was parked with the motor running and windows closed tightly, presumably with the AC on so that the minister concerned would find the car nice and cool on his return…Whilst further down the road the eternal flames were switched off so as to save the economy.

[Daphne – Yes, this government’s cabinet meetings are on Tuesdays, not Mondays.]

    • P Shaw says:

Why not on Mondays in order to plan the week ahead in an effective way?

Do these amateurs all suffer from Monday blues, or do they take it easy on Monday due to the weekend partying, hangovers and excessive watching of live pole-dancing?

    • C C says:

Yes and drivers leaning their feet on the newly refurbished Auberge. And no one can pass with a pushchair let alone wheelchair as all the cars are parked haphazardly blocking everywhere.

We’re seeing the return of the government tal-marmalja.

The acts of the Minister for National Security kissing and hugging with prisoners in full view of the cameras and the press yesterday were very distressing.

  6. Chicago Bulls says:

Where have Merchants Street entry restrictions gone? Any time of day you’ll see official cars parked mainly in front of Ministry for Tourism and Ministry Foreign Affairs!!!

  7. Candida says:

    All gone with the wind

  8. TROY says:

The switchers have the government they deserve.

  9. Natalie says:

This is rapidly turning into a contest of the worst Minister.

I wonder who’s going to win.
