Saturday was festa night at Siggiewi. The Police, Army and Broadcasting Minister, in his official chauffeur-driven car, together with ‘chief of staff’ Silvio Scerri in his, drove right up to the police barriers which barred the street to the main square to all vehicular traffic.

Two goons emerged from the cars, and ignoring the wardens, set the barriers aside. No attempt was made to stop or arrest them.

The two cars then drove through, straight into the mass of people, like one of those scenes in a film where the cars in a car chase get stuck in the milling throng at a village festival. Again, the wardens made no attempt at preventing them.

They drove straight into the square, also barred to traffic, and parked next to the nougat stalls.

Some time later, the Culture Parliamentary Secretary, Jose Herrera, turned up and followed suit.

Were they on urgent official business? No, they were not. They were invited to a ‘party tal-festa’ at Consuelo Herrera’s house, with the usual Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando/Andy Ellul/Vince Micallef (sleazy cops turned lawyers) crowd.

“Keep topping up the Minister’s glass and find out who’s been selected for the Secret Service.”

Well, we’ve got the change we want, haven’t we. This country is now run mainly by scum. They were there working the system behind the scenes anyway, but now it’s no holds barred.

I thought the urgency had to do with reaching the nougat stands before stocks run out

The Education Department is organising Ethics lessons even for those who chose not to attend religion classes.

Dottor Joseph should quickly ask Maria l-Maws to organise an intensive Course on ETHICS for his Cabinet and Castille Cretins who keep embarrassing the Malta Taghna LLkoll crowd WITH their disgraceful behaviours. They should lead by example as Marlene FPOS said yesterday on her Facebook page.

Ara sirtu vera xempju ta’ bulijiet injoranti. Keep it up.

So that’s why they left the wedding reception at the Hilton earlier than expected – to go to ‘Connie’ in Siggiewi.

How tacky! Party tal-festa. I remember having these as a child when all my cousins were still young and our parents used to throw a party for our amusement. These parties soon stopped once we started entering our teenage years.

Traffic summons tip: Just tell the tribunal that you only acted like the Minister for Police, Army and Broadcasting, the minister’s chief of staff, and the PS for Culture did with impunity. The law applies equally to all.

  6. Herbie says:

When a British minister tried to go past the barriers at Downing Str with his bicycle and was refused entry by the police on guard he had to resign for passing disparging comments to the officer.

You have to keep up with this story. It was fabricated and 8 police officers were suspended and investigated.

Why did they have to come down from St Nicholas Street to St Nicholas Square, when who ever knows about the feast in Siggiewi, the place is teeming with people.

Couldn’t they approach Main Street, where ‘Connie’ and Robert live, from the Siggiewi Bypass, though there they would have to clear their way through the take away vans with the accompanying crowds.

Wouldn’t it have been wiser to go on foot, at the same time mingling with people and sort of show ‘kemm huma vicin in-nies?’

  9. Liberal says:

Maybe the Police Catering Services had run out of nougat.
