Four months on, and it looks like a promo for a scam that’s a cross between a pyramid scheme, junk bonds and an obscure sect in the Arizona desert

Daphne, I read your excellent article on the Independent on the visit of the Pope to Lampedusa.

You did well in criticising the lack of empathy on the part of the current administration and the need for Muscat to take a page from the Pope’s book in this regard.

Sadly, this lack of true action and stance in the regard of these migrants is reflected in the utterances of a good chunk of the locals.

You may want to read the 200 plus comments on yesterday’s wave of people. I was shocked that so few empathise with the fact that some of these were wounded.

We have seen that the MLP enact certain policies based on what would make government popular. It scares me to imagine what kind of nonsense Muscat will come up with to retain his “gvern l-jisma” scam.

Muscat will never take a stand to do what is right.

Politics aside the following quote from your article stands tallest:

“Even those who make it, who come out alive at the other end and find themselves with refugee status, have a lifetime of hardship ahead of them. Their memories are painful, their family relationships and friendships have been truncated, cauterised or destroyed completely. They will never see home again.”

Every phrase they say is a contradiction to what they are actually doing.

Was the cellist’s bow hold intended as a symbol of future PL government : unstable, amateur, and unrealistic?
