I have never said ‘Oh just f**k off and die’ to a prime minister, but I am sorely tempted to do so after reading this

Published: July 9, 2013 at 8:27pm

The Malta Independent reports:

Referring to the NGOs who filed the injunction with the ECHR, Dr Muscat said that anyone trying to stop the government’s position will also have to bear the cost.

That was before 65 lawyers filed a judicial protest against him and their ‘kollega’, Manuel Mallia.

He might feel comfortable bullying and threatening a bunch of charity NGOs. But 65 lawyers? I’d like to see him try.

And here’s something which the journalist Karl Schembri, now living in Amman, sent to the prime minister. And Immanuel Mifsud did the same.

  1. Mr Meritocracy says:

Further confirmation that this government wants to use the bulldozing effect.

They said that their majority in Parliament would not get to their heads. That they would govern with prudence.

    Yeah right.

I’m certain that if an election were to be held tomorrow, that nine-seat majority would be whittled down to three seats at the very most, already. And this only after four months of continuous gaffes.

“It is a dramatic moment. When a country, not just you, this is not just Joseph Muscat, I say it with respect, this decision is not your decision, this is our decision. You are involving us all in this decision. You are going to drag us down with this absurdity. Shame on us. We should be ashamed as a country,” Dr Gonzi said.

Great words of a true statesman!

    • ciccio says:

Joseph Muscat must realise that the country he has inherited is different from the one left behind by his idols Mintoff and KMB.
Malta is now a signatory of the ECHR and an EU member state.

The citizens of Malta now have access to rights which they never dreamed of under Mintoff and they will not let Joseph Muscat and his bunch of incompetent clowns take those rights away.

      • sunshine says:

ciccio you obviously haven’t read the comments on Facebook and The Times comments boards… unfortunately this country has really gone to the dogs…

      • Denis says:

Ciccio, less than half of the citizens of Malta know those rights as the rest have been duped to believe otherwise by the twisted media machine of the PL. Had more citizens known what we now enjoy we would be enjoying a peacefull tranquil life style as the past 25 years ( less the last 4 months)

  2. Gahan says:

Who in his right senses will sign a petition complete with details of email and send that info to the Prime Minister?

I’m sorry I can’t trust the Machiavellian bastard.I don’t want to bear the cost…he will.

    Does Neil believe it now?

  5. C Falzon says:

Maltastar seems to exist in some parallel universe. Its top headlines are about Inspector Gadget meeting a minister from NZ and the Marsaxlokk Mayor ‘pleading with the (roving) cabinet’.

The only mention of the mess we have been put into is telling us that more immigrants have arrived and that the the PM will address a press conference on these arrivals. (At least he’s not ‘launching’ the press conference)

  6. taxxu says:

Back to the 80s if you crossed a government minister or crony you ended up in pieces at the bottom of a well – or beneath a bridge.

  7. silvio loporto says:

Mr. P.M. I can assure you that you have the support of the majority of us Maltese, in what you are doing
Just keep on doing what you think is right and don’t be bullied by a few lawyers if they don’t like it they can always wait a few years and have it changed to their way again..

    • Mr Meritocracy says:

I can’t believe that I’ve just read this crap.

      • curious says:

Every so often, Loporto pops in here to tell us a joke.

      • FP says:

        Why the surprise?

There are many like Mr Loporto who are selfish enough to support any solution to a problem as long as they’re on the favourable side of the “solution”.

I’d like to think that Mr Loporto is being delusional when saying that the majority of “us” Maltese support the PM on this.

But whether he’s right or wrong on this is immaterial – he obviously has no clue what “majority” and “minority” mean when it comes to matters such as these. If he were on the “wrong” side of the “solution”, he wouldn’t be harping about “the majority of the Maltese wanting to send me back to whatever’s waiting for me back home”, but rather “I HAVE RIGHTS”.

It’s pointless arguing with these people. It’s a waste of time.

Some have said that we’re starting to witness a repeat of the 80s. What’s different this time is if you’re important enough and fart in the wrong place at the wrong time, the whole world will know about it even before your smell sensors are standing to attention.

How long do you think would it have taken to counter the PM’s actions with a ECHR ruling to stop him, were these the 80s? This happened today in a matter of just a few hours.

        Compare and contrast.

I find a lot of comfort in that.

      • Natalie says:

Mr. Loporto is a troll. He just likes to write incendiary stuff to see the reaction he provokes.

        Just ignore the brainless git.

      • Denis says:

FP morality on this island is scarce and believe that the other part are the majority on this issue. This is a country with a goverment of shameless immoral ethics that reflects its majority.

    • Galian says:

Thus spoke Silvio ‘I’m not racist’ Loporto. Poor you!

    • Liberal says:

Silvio, your friend Joseph’s Final Solution has been nipped in the bud. Screw you and the rest of you fascists.

We don’t have to wait five years. International law is on our side.

  8. ray says:

A nation full of hypocrites with Mintoff reincarnated. This is what we have became.

  9. Dumbo says:

Jeeez Daphne I simply love how you upload this Loporto’s comments. I hope your server will cope with the onslaught.

  10. john says:

Someone should just push-back Joseph and Manuel to where they belong – in the gutter.

  11. vitor says:

and now we are already on Rai News 24

  12. Dumbo says:

Mr. Loporto, it is not only the Maltese who support the PM but also the ECHR does. Ara kemm ghandna lijder bomba. U b’Manwel maghna, min jista’ jkun kontra taghna. Ibqa’ sod Silvio.

  13. Stefan says:

Where is Michelle Muscat and her Dolce and Gabbana Dress? Where is the high society? Where are the glamorous pictures?

  14. Joe Micallef says:

Making myself listen to the moron.

He’s all over the place, without any form of logic. Panic is a euphemism!

  15. anthony says:

The moral of the story tonight.

Lawrence Gonzi rose to the occasion.

Joseph Muscat made a fool of himself.

  16. pitravu says:

Gahan’s post with link to Avaaz is meant to confuse people to vote for the sending back of migrants.

  17. Last Post says:

What is this now? Is he threatening NGOs who oppose to his push-back policies? Patently Fascist.

In light of Pope Francis’ gesture and speech at Lampedusa it is opportune some church-sponsored NGO working among immigrants (JRS?) mobilises all Maltese and foreigners of good will against this outrageous behaviour from a 21-century European democratic, civilised country.

  18. Wistin Schembri says:

    What’s wrong with Labour?

When Labour was in Government between 1955 and 1958, several Maltese who emigrated to Australia were considering returning to Malta because of the economic downturn in the host country. The Labour Government issued a warning that returned Maltese migrants will not be allowed to work in Malta!

During the Suez crisis (1956), a group of Maltese who lived in Egypt escaped and tried to come to Malta. They arrived but the Labour Government did not allow them to land in Malta. After strong protests by the Church, a pregnant Maltese woman was allowed to land and go to Naxxar just to give birth and then return on the ship! These Maltese were not allowed by the Labour Government to come to Malta and ended in the UK!

    • Last Post says:

Prosit Wistin. Grazzi talli fakkarthomna. Il-labour ghandu hafna dilettanti tal-istorja – imma biex jghawguha. Ara kif dawwru lil Manwel Dimech bhala eroj taghhom.

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

I’m glad you mention this. I had a great-aunt among those refuseniks. So much for Mintoff’s love for his fellow countrymen. Maltese historiography is nothing but a tissue of lies, cunningly woven to make that bastard look good.

Threats and more threats. Vote Muscat, get Mintoff.

  21. Aaron balzan says:

who the fuck are these 65 traitors of their country, Dr Muscat never said that Malta shouldn’t help these unfortunate People.Far from that but we are to small to handle big burden of these illegal emigrants, And what assurance does Malta have that they are not criminals or terrorist, so before putting a petition against your country , think wisely

    • Corinne Vella says:

The rule of law is central to a country’s security. The signatories are lawyers. They know a thing or two more about the rule of law than an ex-Super One reporter and, it appears, more than a criminal lawyer tuned minister too.

    • FP says:

Your definition of “wisely” bears true witness to your own wisdom, or rather, lack thereof.

    • Josette says:

You are certainly too small minded to show the minimum empathy and respect fellow human beings. I will always support my country. I will never support my government when I think it is wrong and this government – and people like you Mr Balzan – is dragging us down even further than the gutter we were in in 1987.

    • Il-Cop says:

      @ Aaron balzan

I did think wisely. So much so that I voted PN. I had every reason in the book, which is much larger and thicker than a briksa, not to vote for personal reasons. But I pushed aside my grievances and voted for the good of the nation and to keep these buffoons out. I also thought wisely when I signed the petition against the pushback.

Yes Aaron, I also thought wisely when I voted in favour of divorce even though it was no skin off my nose. I am not the gullible fool who will blindly do as the party I support tells me to do. I have a brain and tend to use it instead of letting it be manipulated.

Then there are the traitor sharks who also have a brain but only use it for their personal gain.

    • Jozef says:

Let’s see, you’re stuck with a scratch built model of the Graf Spee in your basement.

where we can even read some ‘divine and immortal’ wisdom as if it was the original idea of the saviour, erm traitor, no, no, sorry, saviour…

    • Liberal says:

Dear Aaron, if justice and human rights requires me to be a “traitor”, then I will gladly take on that label. After all, there is nothing to be proud of about sharing a nation with semi-literate dimwits like you.

  22. C Falzon says:

    In the Independent:

“Prime Minister Joseph Muscat explained that the migrants had been separated, with the healthy male members of the group being considered for the push-back.”

This is becoming scary – no need to mention what this type of language reminds one of.

    • FP says:

It didn’t take a whole five years for it to become patently obvious:

There’s nothing prime about our Prime Minister.

  23. Betty says:

Don’t worry about any monetary cost because it will be YOU sur Priministru who will sorely bear the POLITICAL cost of your tantrum with the EU.

You have probably escalated this issue purposely, to ensure that the issue will come up in your discussions with Van Rumpoy on Thursday (if he turns up). I can just imagine him listening to your and your Castille Cretin arguments, to try to justify your idiotic actions regarding “pushbacks”.

You shall surely notice that you have succeeded in earning the reputation of a spoilt brat at the next EU meeting.

Through their ambassadors, your counterparts would know fortunately that Malta is not in synch with your tactics.

You are an embarrassment to your party and your racist symphatizers and surely to your Social Democrat friends.

  24. Ghoxrin Punt says:

Well said Dr. Gonzi. You are sorely missed.

  25. Rocky says:

Muscat will look a bit of a fool and hypocrite if the Pope mention this. Direct or indirect.

I must admit that a solution has to be found, but not this way.

  26. P.S. says:

This idea of seperating the migrants and choosing the healthy male members is reminding me of what happened in Auschwitz when Jews arrived by train and were selected for slaughter. Can’t believe this is happening in the year 2013.

  27. Likki says:

If Muscat feels comfortable sending back all these migrants to torture and maltreatment in Libya, what would he have done to the 2 Libyan jet pilots in the early hours of the Ghaddafi conflict?

Two years ago malta was praised for its courage and assistance. Our harbours screened “live” on CNN and BBC. Now we get a reprimand from the EU, a court judgement from ECHR and god knows what will hit us in the coming hours.

  28. P.S. says:

So the same week Our dear Pope Francis visits lampedusa and sends a message of compassion and understanding towards all migrants, we in nearby Malta do the exact opposite.I wonder if our Prime Minister when visiting The Pope recently spoke to him about his plan of action towards migrants or was he too busy making sure the wonderful photo session with the Pope would give good results.

  29. matt says:

Muscat thinks he can bully people around like he routinely does at Castille. He is totally isolated from reality. To some people he is looked as a tough PM but to many people with a brain see him for what he is- a man who is not qualified to be a prime minister.

I recognize that our tiny island with limited resources can’t handle the influx of all the immigrants, but diplomacy is the only way for a proper humanitarian solution.

  30. Lomax says:

There are many many more lawyers ready to step up the fight.

  31. bookworm says:

Prosit Karl Schembri meta ghidt, ‘tghoddnix tieghek bl-ebda mod’.

  32. Jozef says:

Very moderate of Muscat to take it out in parliament on NGOs whose role is to carry the voice of the ‘unsuitables’.

Bit of a critical week this – someone has to back down, either a government we can identify with, or an adversary we can’t.

An anonymous adversary becomes an enemy to blame for anything. He lasted four months before ceding to their comfort zone.
