From cigarettes to coconuts: Dalli’s Bahamas trips and the Commissioners’ Code of Conduct

  1. Volley says:

    Hilarious!

  2. Alexander Ball says:

Is it possible that Muscat has put Dalli in a job because he sees the PN a bigger threat if Dalli is involved with it?

  3. Antoine Vella says:

How does Kurt Farrugia come into it?

  4. ciccio says:

    Ah, the Commissioners’ ‘briksa’.

  5. Joe Micallef says:

    Glorious!

  6. La Redoute says:

“But recent revelations about dubious dealings by Dalli in the Bahamas, involving millions of euros and international con artists, have opened the door to a new chapter of Dalligate. However this new chapter may end, there are some clear implications for the ethics rules intended to govern Commissioners – the Code of Conduct for Commissioners. “

  7. La Redoute says:

“Whatever the former Commissioner feels, if he was involved in setting up a new charitable foundation then he should have listed this in his online declaration of interests. This declaration includes all the interests that Commissioners are required to declare under their Code of Conduct, including information on former and current outside activities, financial interests and assets, and spouses’ activities.”

  8. Cittadin Malti says:

JDalliBA. High premium coconut milk. Produce of the Bahamas.

  9. Jozef says:

Marie Louise Coleiro just got a stern telling off from the Speaker’s office.

He may wear the wrong socks with the wrong shoes, but no one’s messing with his staff.

  10. Jozef says:

Custom built shelters, the cheapest shop awning you can get bolted onto a couple of square profiles, If that thing lasts a year I’m a dodo.

Rather embarrasing this morning, direct sunlight slowly moving up the horse’s side as Galdes ranted on.

Water to be provided later on he said. Bad for horses anyway, known to drink themselves to death, tsk.

Just love their defensive, ‘ghallinqas ppruvajt’.

  11. Jozef says:

‘…..The report pointed out that a €200,000 direct order for planting and maintenance of trees was issued when the government’s own PARKS department was not even approached to deliver this work. “Government could have procured the trees and their planting at a cheaper rate had supply and maintenance deliverables been kept separate, and even cheaper had maintenance been kept in house.”

However, the PN said that the minister should “stop acting as if he was in Opposition” and understand that the project would not have been eligible to EU funds had the government purchased the trees from its own PARKS department….’

    And that is Leo Brincat.

Maltatoday doing its best to lick ass.

  12. Gahan says:

But he didn’t break the law, didn’t he?

  13. Gahan says:

From ‘pastizzi’ to cigarettes to coconuts.

  14. pablo says:

Galdes asserts that each horse shelter under PN was going to cost Euro 40,000. I just love’em, the way they can shovel figures around like that and then go home to the wifey.

    • Jozef says:

He should have a word with Konrad then.

He won’t even disclose the fees or the brief. But they’ll have us believe this firm was capable of producing preliminary designs in less than three months.

So Konrad forgot to factor in costs related to ‘pre-development’. Indeed he forgot he needs major consultancy work to check on the investor’s proposal. Managing half a billion euros by crisis and direct orders.

This minister’s seriously delusional and dangerously driven, something has to give, which will be our money.

    • kram says:

And did you see the 3,000 euro shelter yesterday on the news. It is just a canopy coming out of a standing metal frame with little protection from the sides. And the parliamentary secretary drew all the media for a press conference at the launch of these shelters, if one can call them like that.

  15. Vagabond King says:

Whatever happened to the question asked Minister Mallia regarding the sale of property, leaving him €495,000 cash at home?

  16. Vagabond King says:

Whatever happened to Mary Swan? Is she still working in Malta? If yes, does she have a work permit?

    • La Redoute says:

She wasn’t officially working in Malta, was she? And she flew in and out at will, so a residence permit wouldn’t have been necessary, either. The flat in Sliema would have been rented out through a trust, rather than to Mary Swann. What are the odds that the rent was always paid in cash, a commonly used means of tax evasion?
