Former European Commissioner John Dalli had admitted to police in December that contrary to what he told OLAF investigators, his former canvasser Silvio Zammit had alerted him to the EU probe when they spoke on July 6.

Hadn’t someone better ring Joseph Muscat now and ask him whether he still thinks appointing John Dalli to an executive role is justified?
He can hardly claim that the police said Dalli did nothing wrong, now we know Dalli admitted to the police that he lied to OLAF’s investigators.
This is one of the charitable organisations Dalli is usually involved with.

He’s wriggled out of bad situations before, let’s see him get out of this one.

What seriously gets to me is that he went on the Labour Party’s TV station attacking Dr Gonzi and insinuating that it was the PN who was hacking his emails etc etc when all he wanted to do is distract everybody else from what was REALLY going on.
This whole saga has now become utterly ridiculous.
Why Dalli should persist in making a complete fool of himself in the media is beyond comprehension.
In his place I would go to the Bahamas, stick a hog banana in my mouth and stay there forevermore.

I will be going to a seminar in Almedalen at 10.00, where the corrupt former Commissioner John Dalli will try to convince the audience about his virgin-white innocence. Dalli resigned as EU Commissioner when it was discovered that through an agent, the restaurant owner Silvio Zammit, he attempted to get Swedish Match to pay him a bribe of half a billion dollars for him to suggest that snus will be sold throughout Europe.
Swedish Match refused to pay and reported the bribery attempt instead, which led to the EU’s anti-corruption unit,OLAF, conducting an investigation. This led to Mr Dalli’s firing from the EU Commission.

In my opinion the evidence is more than sufficient for Dalli to be fired as commissioner.
Dalli is a corrupt politician who got caught.
It will be very nice to hear how he will try to deny it.

I am curious if he ever provided a certificate of “psycho-social illness” to whoever he says is promoting the trust in the Bahamas, and what was their reaction to that.
Meanwhile, Malta is slowly turning into a Bananahamas republic.
Lies are like smoke and where there is smoke there is fire. It is unbelievable how the new Police Commissioner didn’t see anything wrong with John Dalli’s lies.
On 6 July he asked if he could be absent from an official dinner. This was quite clearly a last minute request. Yet he now tells journalists that the visit to the Bahamas was pre-planned. Is this another porky?

Why give power of attorney to anyone to prove he doesn’t have accounts/money in the Bahamas?
MEPs do not do investigations. Police forces do, and they might find something Dalli doesn’t want known.
So, if an MEP can say they didn’t find any evidence, does that mean we can all go away saying “That’s alright then”? I still think this needs a proper and impartial investigation.

It’s the way Dalli conducted himself after being alerted by Silvio Zammit that makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.
Dalli does not contact OLAF and does not distance himself from his old buddy who has just supposedly ruined his reputation.
Instead he took the decision, as an EU Commissioner, to lie to the OLAF investigators in the first hour of his first interview.
Here is a EU Commissioner, vilified by ‘a wide world conspiracy’ as being a crook and bribe-taker, who then sees elegant wisdom during the investigation in secretly zapping off to the Bahamas and zapping back to EU business before being missed. And lying about his whereabouts.
Here is a EU Commissioner, so ‘cruelly accused of dishonesty’, saying today that no member of his family rented a villa in the Bahamas, because “it was a company owned by” his daughter which rented it (choke).
John Dalli is a whole lot more than a ruddy liar. Is he still being allowed to harm the Nationalist Party?

How is it that Johhny Cash Dalli has never blamed Silvio Zammit for putting him in all this trouble ? Wasn’t he (SZ) an accomplice ?
Silvio Zammit knows too much.
And Dalli never sued Zammit for Dalli’s claim that Zammit could be damaging Dalli’s reputation, although Dalli had said that he had sent Zammit a legal letter.
Even those who supported him during his time with the PN are liars and corrupt.
