Playing around with words and technicality of meaning, now – I’m surprised Malta Today would allow Dalli to take them down with him
John Dalli has released an exclusive statement to Malta Today, as he usually does:
“I am prepared to give a power of attorney to a trusted individual to make all the checks with any or all the banks in the Bahamas to verify this. I declare that I do not have any bank accounts in any other jurisdiction except in Brussels where I received payments from the Commission and in Malta where my pension payment is deposited.”
Nobody imagines that there is anything in his name. He should instead invite a search in the names of members of his immediate family: brothers, daughters and so on, and companies held in their name.
I’m quite sure he isn’t lying when he claims that he owns and holds nothing. Technically speaking, that’s almost certainly true. Whether others hold it for him is another matter altogether.

Muscat was happy to boast that Dalli phoned him first out of his resignation meeting, transferred the chief of police and the top detectives who knew there was enough on Dalli to at least have him give evidence on oath, and gave him a top cabinet-level job.

PBS has avoided showing recent footage of John Dalli with Joseph Muscat in its news about Dalli. Shame on PBS. Muscat was so happy with his acquisition.

Why are you assuming that John Dalli still has his money in the Bahamas?
He had all the time he needed to put his money in a safe place during the election campaign. Leave it up to Giovanni Kessler if he takes the matter in his hand. No one can do it better than him.

Even if The Bahamas property was rented in his daughter’s name, was it proper for John Dalli as EU Commissioner at the time to be linked to the Bahamas in this way anyway?
The Bahamas has one main connotation and John Dalli, if he was anywhere near clean, should not have been there, especially as EU Commissioner.
That is just sending out one clear message that he is ‘open for business.’
Joseph, independently and by association, is no different.
The by association part clearly needs a deeper investigation.
