Saviour Balzan thinks that John Dalli is naive, and he is prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Well, good luck with that.

Saviour Balzan, ever ready to break a lance on Dalli’s behalf, thinks it is very odd that Dalli concealed his trip to the Bahamas, and that he went there in the first place for a charity project.

But he is prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, because Dalli is “naive”.

Saviour also says in his column that a friend sent him a text message about Dalli when the story broke: “Either he is the unluckiest person in the world or a bloody idiot.”

He could also be a crook and a liar.

One thing’s for sure: neither of them is as bright and sharp as he thinks he is.

Saviour Balzan in Brussels last Thursday addressing the EU parliament

“In Malta, the culture of resignations and ethical resignation is much much higher than Brussels…and I’m proud of this. After Malta has been taken to the gutter by a former Italian magistrate who has a problem with putting words to his mouth….Yes I am proud to say that our ethical standards and idea of political responsibility is much higher”

The gall of this man is unbelievable.

  2. nathan says:

“Either he is the unluckiest person in the world or a bloody idiot.”

That will be seen according with his reactions. Until now his only defence is to attack everybody else, which is a sign of desperation and something who does not speak well about him.

    San Gorg Dalli, megalomartri

  4. Harry Purdie says:

How the hell did this twerp get to address the EU parliament?

  5. Gahan says:

By Balzan’s standards, Dalli is naive and Tonio Fenech is corrupt.

    Now to this one:

Can you imagine renting a villa in the Bahamas for $8,000 a month , and the landlord starts to send you threatening emails, comes to Malta to do business and what not?

What does John Dalli do normally when he feels threatened? He goes to the police.

This is simply not normal behaviour.

  6. anthony says:

If Saviour Balzan believes that Dalli could possibly be naïve, then I dread to think what Balzan is.

Dalli is neither naïve nor unlucky nor a bloody idiot.

No, he is very blatantly something else.

  7. Joe Fenech says:

Sending Dalli to Brussels was a poisoned chalice. The PN knew what he was likely to do and that his downfall would be a massive one. Machiavellianism at its very best.

  8. DalliBahamas says:

Saviour Balzan is working for his paymaster – John Dalli. Now we know who funded MaltaToday all along. And to think that he spent so much time calling other people witches and worse.

Prosit, Saviour. Anke int mibjuh, mid-dehra.

    • Joseph Ellul-Grech says:

Spin, spin if you want to, Saviour. Your paymaster needs your support.

No one has ever heard such a lot of clap trap. It now turns out that Dalli went to the Bahamas with his daughter to conduct some very suspicious
      philanthropic financial transactions.

John Dalli’s financial wings spread from Malta to Jersey,Switzerland,Libya, Qatar, Brussels, Bahamas and possibly further. Boot lickers always spew up a lot of BULL***T.Well done Saviour, what would Malta do without a hypocrite like YOU. By the way, you forgot to mention my “poisonous” blogs. http://jd-4th-one.blogspot.co.uk/

  9. Alexander Ball says:

Some confusion has been caused by the fact that there is a discrepancy in the OLAF Report concerning the 14 minute telephone call between John Dalli & Silvio Zammit, on the 6th July 2012.

On page 26 of the OLAF report, it states that John Dalli telephoned Silvio Zammit at 18:00 on the 6th, but then on Page 30, it states that it was Zammit who phoned Dalli, the other way round.

Maybe the fact of who phoned who will come to light during Zammit’s trial.

I take the view that it is more likely to have been Zammit who telephoned Dalli at 18:00 on the 6th July, because Dalli was in Cyprus on EU Commission business on that day.

It makes more sense for it to have been Zammit who telephoned Dalli, given that it was Zammit that had been interrogated by OLAF the day before, i.e., 5th July.

I am surprised that this error in the OLAF Report has not been highlighted by anybody else before now.

It doesn’t make any difference in the overall scheme of things as to who actually telephoned who, but the truth would help to avoid speculation, so that we can all be singing from the same hymn sheet.

  10. Gahan says:

Can anyone ask Dalli whether he has a time share property in the Bahamas?

This is what one gets for $8,000 per month.

  11. Mister says:

Maybe some leads could come from his own declaration of interests.

The date he signed this is way back. Don’t they ask them to ‘submit’ any changes to their declaration if this changes in the meantime?

I’m disappointed that it’s so brief and vague.
