‘Those that sow the wind shall reap the whirlwind’ – Hosea 8:7

Joseph Muscat is guilty of a dreadful evil: stirring up dormant hatred, racist, and xenophobia to bolster his support in the polls and distract electors from the fact that he is having trouble governing and is held hostage by men such as John Dalli.
Playing with fire doesn’t even begin to describe it. People who think like this are now feeling enabled and encouraged, vindicated and supported.

This is Joseph’s legacy
I can’t understand this Joseph Muscat. Yesterday he declared that he sleeps well at night because he has a clean conscience and this morning at about 9.00 (in the midst of such a crisis) he is at the gym accompanied by about four security people. Inkredibbli.
[Daphne – Exactly what does he do at the gym? He’s overweight and completely out of shape.]
He swings. No, not THAT. He tries to lift far too much weight and ends up swinging from the hip instead of using his biceps. We’ve all seen the video. In any case, he needs cardio. CARDIO. Forget the weights. Fewer calories, more exercise.
I assume, by cardio. you meam ‘heart’, friend.
Amen to that. Jogging, cycling or swimming I say. OUTSIDE. So he gets a decent skin colour.
I would not bet an old penny what he goes there for.
Maybe he likes to see men in lycra shorts.
His four security men carry him in and out of the gym, then pump iron on his behalf.
Maybe he gets all ripped by osmosis?
Should anyone wish to check the veracity of Joseph Muscat’s being at the Spinach Fitness Centre in Pembroke almost on a daily basis between approx. 9.00am and 10.00am (today Thursday included), a site plan is provided here:

Is Joseph Muscat aware of what he’s doing? I hope he realises what all this is leading to and dampen his enthusiasm of proving himself macho or else it looks like blood will be shed in the not too distant future.
And this is not in the national or individual interest.
The Church, political parties and NGOs should condemn such sentiments before its too late.
Yes day by day more amd more immigrants are coming and more and more Maltese are supporting the PM .
No. Day by day Joseph is spewing more hate and making people think that it is acceptable to hate – so long as it’s African immigrants naturally.
Remove that wool from over your eyes if you’re capable. We’re going down a slippery slope.
People always need a target and Joseph has provided them one. And I can’t sleep at night thinking that soon a mob of righteous Maltese will think that they can hunt down and kill these people at will. They’ve already made declarations to that effect on Facebook.
At the moment we’re either in pre-War Nazi Germany or post Civil War American South. Just take your pick! Neither is a time period which I ever wanted to experience.
It’s all a deception. Joseph Muscat steered the country’s attention well away from Dalligate.
He knew that if the pressure had been kept up and the police were forced to check Ladybird’s passport the situation would have got well out of hand and most probably his resignation would have been called for.
It’s pathetic how everyone has fallen to this simple ploy.
And the level of dangerous cynicism which this “ploy” reveals is extraordinary. I wonder if it has reached sociopathic levels.
It has. Long before the elections. Weren’t you a witness of Dr.Gonzi’s character assassination done by the Supa Wan machine?
Pyrrhic victory. He’s deflected attention off Dalli’s mess, by creating an equally big one himself. At least Dalli embarrassed a nation by our proximity to him, but Malta elected PMJM (thank you Qormi Mayor – I quite like that abbreviation).
Don’t get fooled by the idiots making all the noise online – many of those who would be outraged by Muscat’s move won’t start a row. Having said that the only “I’m not a racist, but…” comments on my Facebook are from diehard labour voters – one in particular is the son an old Labour MP.
There is no need for anyone to “force” the police to follow up on the serious allegations of multiple identities and passports. All that is necessary (and not even that really in a democracy) is a “nihil obstat” from the political superiors.
If Muscat were man enough, he’d call a press conference to condemn racism in no uncertain terms.
He’s not a man. He’s just a dangerous boy who should have been spanked daily as a child (I’m against corporal punishment for children but I’d make an exception for him) and who thinks that he can pull wool over everyone’s eyes all the time. That’s why he hates Dr. Gonzi. He always had this way of looking at Joseph which showed him that he saw through him,
Clarification: I’m against corporal punishment, normally full stop. But I’ve discovered that I would be willing to make an exception in this case.
How can he condemn racism when he clearly does not give a toss about these people?
In fact, he cares for no-one except himself and puts on a façade of caring only when he can get something out of it. And I’m not only talking about political gain, I think even in his personal life, he is a user.
He even uses his children, for God’s sake.
And his wife is exactly the same; fake and self-absorbed.
Muscat had better tell us how many new jobs were created since he took over.
And didn’t he say he wanted unity, as did our President? They are both failing on this count.
May I ask where the President is? Not a single word in the midst of all this. Has he not boasted of going to help such people in Peru???
Wouldn’t be surprised if this charade is set up by Muscat simply to push a wedge between the electorate and the EU. He wants to pick an issue with the EU, on which he has the majority behind him. That way he’s ‘legitimized’ in taking us out.
I’d be surprised if that was not the case.
It is now fairly obvious that the push-back operation was a bluff and he knew he couldn’t get away with it. He’s achieved what he wanted; the admiration of xenophobes and a common enemy, the EU, to unite them.
It’s a very dangerous game he’s playing, though. He has backed himself up against a wall and if a face-saving solution is not found, he might yet try and go the whole hog.
Two brids with one stone; it’s this and shifting attention away from Dalligate.
Joseph said that the burden is weighing heavily and EU should help out. When did he say that he is against niggers on our island? If someone misinterpreted what he said than it is his problem. Please stop accusing him as you are sounding ridiculous and childish.
‘…When did he say that he is against niggers on our island?..’
Unbelievit.
Joseph Muscat and Manuel Mallia separated the men from the women and children. They refused to allow NGOs access. They tried to circumvent the immigrants’ right to demand refugee status and they had the planes ready to take the men to a country which is deemed unsafe.
I think there is no misinterpreting their actions.
“Joseph Muscat and Manuel Mallia separated the men from the women and children”
Reminds me of the train station platform at Auschwitz.
Niggers? Seriously? And you have a problem with those who sound, according to you, ‘ridiculous and childish?’
On L-Iswed fuq l-Abjad, Claudette Buttigieg described how government benches were silent yesterday.
She’s convinced there was major dissent, which also explains why the matter wasn’t even brought before parliament and matters precipitated in the lapse of an afternoon.
Who’s pushing Muscat?
I wonder if this is the way right-thinking Germans felt at the beginning of Hitler’s rise to power. I never like Muscat, he put me off – to smug, snide, know-it-all. But I never thought he was this evil.
Joseph told Al Jazeera that he can’t sleep at night because he’s getting nightmarish calls telling him there are more boatpeople on the way.
And less than 24 hours before, he answered Caroline Muscat’s opinion piece by saying that he sleeps at night because he’s consistent in his politics.
Words escape me.
Are you surprised? Consistency has never been his forte. Self-interest is.
Nightmares? Not about the immigrants’ plight, no doubt, but rather about being prime minister and unable to handle the responsibilities.
Bloody incompetent.
Maybe he’s sleepwalking his way through the legislature.
You are absolutely correct. Muscat bniedem imhawwad and, in my opinion, he is out of control
He didn’t say he can’t sleep at night. He said the calls are nightmarish.Of course they are. They a) wake him up and b) remind him that he’s got a job to do. On the rest of the matter, he sleeps easy. As he said himself, it’s because he’s always been consistent.
Qed niftakar. Dan ma kienx qalilna li se jiggverna bil-proza u l-poezija. Ezatt.
It is a sad feeling, but have to say that for once I feel better being in the minority than in the majority.
Yes because, sadly, Malta has lost its charitable soul in favour of populist extremism.
People are calling this ‘having balls’ and ‘not falling for the foreigner’.
They are not realising this is a game of wise people over naive ones – echoes of past nationalism policies of the 1930s.
They are not realising this is a game of frequent events of getting close to illegality, up to a point where there is no line anymore between what is good or bad, what is moral or not, what is illegal or not.
This is how it all starts, the seed of evil. I just hope there are enough people in my minority to ensure this doesn’t happen.
A fitting quotation, even if it is thousands of years old (i.e. not so ‘liberal, modern and progressive’).
I heard it from an insider during their first month in office that they didn’t have a clue what struck them or where to start from.
So your guess is most probably correct. Muscat is stirring up this latent racial discomfort (which in many cases is overtly hatred) to cover up his government’s ineptitude and incompetence.
I hear quite a few ‘righteous’ people airing the view that yes WE have a problem and that it is alright for Joseph to take it by the horns.
They forget that the vast majority of these immigrants are very civilised and in many cases also subdued. They are the ones who take up the jobs the Maltese refuse to do.
Finally, what would the local political scene be like without your blogs and opinion column. Pretty drab I’d say. In spite of the controversy surrounding you, you inject a much-needed dose of straight, original thinking.
This blog in particular is a haven of sanity amid the insular narrow-mindedness, mediocrity, superficiality and twisted reasoning my fellow countrymen unfortunately indulge in.
Xi hdura ghall emigranti qajjem fil-pajjiz. Kollu fuq il-kuxjenza tieghu dan.
Ghalhekk ha jibqa miftakar – li salva lil Malta mill-emigranti mhux li ghaqqad lil Maltin bhalma tixtieq Mrs Muscat.
I was speaking about this with someone and he said that these migrants are the ruin of the countries they go to, they pull it down to their level and never learn how to live in a civilized way.
I said to him that that is precisely what the Labour voting community do to Malta, they never learn and they pull the country down to their level by voting the scum back into power.
Where should we send these Labour-voting idiots who, after 25 years of living the good life have opted to drag everyone back to the horrible past we all dreaded would come back one day?
I wonder if Mrs. Michelle Muscat still has the same views of how she wishes her children to remember their father.
Her hopes have certainly been dashed. He is most definitely not the man who managed to unite the country.
On the contrary, he will be remembered as the man who ruined Malta’s reputation enjoyed since the beginning of times as a beautiful Island with hospitable people.
There father is a shameful example of what a statesman should be and the sooner he resigns the better for all including his children.
Mrs. Michelle Muscat in an interview once said that her wish is that her husband will be forever remembered as the Prime Minister who managed to unite the Maltese.
Vera qed jaghmel min kollox biex jaqta’ x-xewqa taghha.
Do they sell pastizzi at the gym? These people cannot be honest even about what they eat.
Daphne ,
keep J. Dalli post going as commissioner of police and Muscat have sidetracked your blog . Dalli seems to take hold over Muscat and the truth need be known . With Dalli being brought down Muscat has much to lose.
