We need to look at this story in the context of today’s news-bomb

Times Dalli Muscat

The Times reported on 18 June:

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today that he did not expected problems with the EU after his decision to appoint former European Commissioner John Dalli to head the Mater Dei Hospital reform.

Speaking on Bondi Plus, Dr Muscat said he had kept a step back and heard all arguments. But once the Police Commissioner had decided independently in consultation with the Attorney General that there was no case against Mr Dalli, it stood to reason that he would use Mr Dalli’s abilities.

He was not Mr Dalli’s lawyer, but once the police commissioner of his own country said there was no case, he took his word.

The government was pro-Europe, but it could not accept any diktat from anyone in the EU. It was the government which took the decisions in Malta, Dr Muscat said.

The government was not asking (EU Commission President) Jose Barroso to change his position, but being a good European did not mean saying yes to everything, Dr Muscat said. He had heard the argument but once the Maltese authorities had decided independently, it was time to move forward.

Perhaps this time he’ll need a pilgramage to Girgenti rather than just a thanksgiving mass.

It wasn’t in St. Bart’s was it, where Joe Sammut threw a party for the Gaddaffis?

Incidentally what happened to the funds Sammut was entrusted with?

Surely, nobody could lay claim to them after Muammar and most of his sons were assassinated, Seif arrested, and the rest of the family in exile.

My bet is that most of this money was used to fund the Labour Party.

      Well spotted. So it was.

Joe Sammut had one of the Gaddafi juniors over with his entourage when Benghazi revolted. It seemed his idea of a penhouse in St.Julian’s should include a helicopter pad.

What a catastrophic success ‘Joseph’ is turning out to be …

This must be another one of those decisions highlighting GuziPL’s bloody obvious lack of foresight (remember Cyprus, Iceland, etc?). Jghaggel wisq ir-ragel.

The unfortunate thing (for us ALL) is that he is now in the controlling seat.

I have some questions on my mind. Are the AG and the Police Commissioner fit for purpose then? Are they puppets on a string? I believe these and other questions about their handling of this case need clarification.

I wonder what psycho-social therapy John Dalli is going to need after this story broke out today?

And how is the our PM going to respond? By brushing it aside and pretending it’s not happening?

I just cannot understand Dalli. He has access to many millions stacked up somewhere and he still hangs on. Let go, John – and enjoy the money.

    or The Republic of Bananas?
